Ipod mini in tge car

i have had my ipod mini for a year and a half now and havent had any problems. Recently, i accidentally unplugged my ipod while it was plugged into the computer and said not to disconnect. Then the ipod started randomly skipping through songs and pausing then jumping back to the beginning of the song. I restored the ipod to factory settings, and now it works fine, except when im in the car and the ipod is attached to the tape deck. It's still doing the same thing. Help please

  • Hooking your iPod mini to your car stereo

Hi. I was wondering if someone could tell me what is the best product to hook your iPod mini up to your car stereo. I have looked at some but I would like some opinions. I want a good product not something that will break right away. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

b Various Methods to Connect to a Car Stereo System, or Listen to Your iPod in the Vehicle
    b Best:
Direct connection via the dock connector or headphone jack of your iPod, to the mini-jack input (or AUX RCA input jacks) of your car stereo. Not many low/moderate-end cars have this feature yet, but it is becoming more popular. Some aftermarket auto stereo units may have this feature.
There are also some after-market, moderate to fairly expensive direct interfaces, that hook into your existing car stereo to provide a high-quality, direct connection. Most will also power/charge the iPod. Pretty slick, but can be pricey ($80-$300). If money is no object, a clean way to go. Not very portable from car to car – if at all.

    b Better:
Connect your iPod to a cassette adaptor and play your tunes through your car's cassette player. Some new cars no longer come with a cassette player, so it may not be an option. It will provide even better audio quality if you can run the audio feed out of the dock connector (see the SendStation link below). Can be portable between cars that have a cassette player and also be used in your home cassette system.
    b Good:
Attach an FM transmitter to your iPod and play the tunes through an unused FM station. Convenient, but wireless FM transmitter signals are susceptible to static and outside interference, and can vary in strength and quality depending on your location. Some noticeable degradation and distortion, depending on the quality of the transmitter, the sensitivity of your ears and the airwave congestion in your area. Highly portable between cars, and may be used in a home system. FM transmitters that need to be plugged into a DC auto jack may not work in a home environment (without some sort of adaptor).
    b Marginal:
Attach an external speaker system to the iPod and play it in the car. Workable, but not too good - unless you spring for a $300+ Bose (or similar) system. But why? Only if your vehicle has no Stereo system, perhaps.

Whichever you choose, power the iPod through your car’s DC power -- either from a power adapter, or as part of the combined audio adaptor. Have a method to secure the iPod to the dash/console/etc. See the reviews for all the various accessories at the iLounge
You will also get better audio output if the dock connection plug is used, rather than the headphone jack. See this URL for a novel adaptor: https://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pd_lousb.html. Others types are also available via this site.
I have read positive and negative reviews of each method, and within method there are great variations in performance of different manufacture's systems – and peoples’ opinions of their performance. Some cassette adaptors/FM transmitters work poorly, some better.
FWIW: I have the iTrip Mini & the Newer Technology RoadTrip!+ FM transmitters, a Belkin cassette adaptor (used both with & w/out the PocketDock) and two vehicles with the BlitzSafe direct interface. Using the same song in the same car, I found that the FM transmitters worked, but not as good as the cassette adapter via the headphone jack. Using the PocketDock on the cassette adapter resulted in a significant audio quality improvement. As expected, the Blitzsafe direct connect was exceptionally better than everything else: less tinny, a more warmer/richer sound, and close to true CD quality.

  • How to use iPod mini USB in car - manage playing

I am getting reacqauinted with my iPod mini and see that I can play it in my car using the USB port, but can't seem to access the controls...it just displays do not disconnect. I turned the car off before I disconnected the iPod. Will appreciate any feedback here!

Yes I have the same question too. When I plug my fairly new160 gig ipod classic into the USB port of my new car, all the ipod screen info defaults over to the car's screen and you have to navigate what you want from the touch screen in the car. Fine no problem. But when I try to do the exact same thing using either of my old ipod minis (which otherwise work just fine with headsets) I get an error message which basically says. this is not going to work. WHy is that? ...Anyone?

  • Listening to the iPod mini in my car

When I listen to my mini in my car through an Audio jack it causes my speakers to crackle a bit. I tested the stereo out to see if a newer generation iPod made a difference. The nano sounded much better. Does anyone know if it is because of an output level that is lower than newer generation models or some other reason? I haven't been able to find a spec for this type of thing...

Some stuff from iTunes is in protected format. You can only copy the songs 5 separate times (i.e. to 5 different computers, or 5 different disks, players, etc.). To activate the songs, try playing them from within iTunes. You'll get a dialogue box asking for your registration info, and then you're all set.

  • Using iPod Mini in the car!

My boyfriend just got a new car and I want to get him something so he can use his iPod in the car. We used the tape adaptor in his old car, it wouldnt okay but he wants something better.
He is intrested in the iTrip but I have heard that it doesn't work that well. I want to know what you guys think - I am not looking for the cheapest solution. I want good quailty at a fairly reasonable price.
I see there are new iTrips with an LCD however they wont fit 'right' on the mini, they will work but will sit off center. There is another one coming out that uses the dock connector but then you can not charge it and listen at the same time.
I did find this on the apple site
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/canadastore.woa/70609/wo/cO2Xen orCQg32EU4hVM1tg9vqQG/2.SLID?mco=EF8F05F6&nplm=TC100LL%2FA
and it will fit nicely on top of the mini.
Anyway, any input would be nice!

  • Ipod mini/car audio

Does anyone know how I can connect my ipod mini to my car cd player's aux port? Is there a cable I can buy for it? Or am I better off getting a FM transmitter? Thanks for your help.

b Various Methods to Connect to a Car Stereo System, or Listen to Your iPod in the Vehicle
There are several ways to connect any iPod (or MP3 player) to a car audio system. There are also many opinions on which works better than others. Here is my synopsis:
    b Best Way:
Direct connection via the dock connector or headphone jack of the iPod, to the mini-jack input (or AUX RCA jacks) of your car stereo. Not many low/moderate-end cars have this feature yet, but it is becoming more popular. Some aftermarket auto stereo units have this feature. b Better:
Connect your iPod to a cassette adaptor and play your tunes through your car's cassette player. In my opinion (via testing in my car using the accessories I have), it has better fidelity than FM transmitters. Some new cars no longer come with a cassette player, so it may not be an option. It will provide even better audio quality if you can run the audio feed out of the dock connector (see the SendStation link below). Can be portable between cars that have a cassette player and also be used in your home cassette system.
    b Good:
Attach one of the many FM transmitter devices to your iPod and play the tunes through an unused FM station. Some noticeable degradation and distortion may be heard - depending on the quality of the transmitter, the sensitivity of your ears and the airwave congestion in your area. Portable between cars, and may be used in a home system (an iTrip or other self-powered unit).

Whichever you choose, power the iPod through a DC adapter running from the car (separate, or as part of the audio adaptor). See the reviews for all the various accessories mentioned above and more, at the iLounge
You will also get a better audio output if one uses the dock connection plug, rather than the headphone jack. See this site for a novel adaptor: https://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pd_lousb.html. Others types are also available via this site.
I have read both positive and negative reviews of each method, and within method, there are great variations in performance of different manufacture's systems – and peoples’ opinions of their performance. Some cassette adaptors work poorly, some better. I got lucky with my choices and have not had any big problems, yet...
BTW - I have a Belkin cassette adaptor and an iTrip Mini FM transmitter (as well as a Newer Technology RoadTrip!+). Using the same song in the same car, I found that the cassette adaptor worked significantly better for me than the FM transmitters.
I am now waiting for two (one for each car) Blitzsafe direct connection cables to arrive in the mail.

  • Playing ipod mini in car?

hi i am very new to this (turning 18 soon) an i was wondering what is the best way (as in what is the best product) to play my ipod mini through my car speakers?

    jenna,
I'm new to the ipod mini, but I know that it seems like everyone makes ipod accessories. These are just some examples of what is out there:

  • IPod mini only works with car charger!

My iPod mini only works when it is plugged into a car charger. It is 4 months old. It does not work (frozen - no response or display at all) on its own, or plugged into the AC charger, or the USB connection on the computer. I have tried the reset procedure several times and with different power connections with no results. The iPod seems perfectly fine when using a car charger otherwise nothing! Whats going on!!?!?!
    Anyone else with this problem??

    Try to reset it.
Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons - at the same time - until you see the Apple logo. This should take about 6 seconds. Also, you want to do this procedure while your iPod is connected to your computer. Ipods are supposed to work with USB port cable and AC Adapters, not only car chargers.
If this doesn't work, then try to update it using iPod Updater software. Open iPod Update, plug in your iPod to your computer and wait until the software recognizes it. Once it does, you should be able to click on the "Update" button. If you can't, click "Restore"

  • Connect Ipod mini to car stereo

I have just bought a new car (ford Fiesta) that has an aux socket for an ipod/mp3. Where and what cable to i need to get to connect my ipod mini to this.

  • Problem With Turning On My iPOD Mini

Hello. I just got my new iPOD Mini. I had to send in my old one because it had received the "sad ipod icon". So, the service went smoothly, and I recieved it back within a week. Everything seemed to in order, except for one thing.
Ususally, with an iPOD, all you have to do to turn it on is press the play button. However, with my iPOD Mini, you actually have to reset it everytime. I have tried toggling the hold switch, and I have even restored it to factory sealed condition twice, but it still needs to be reset! At one point in time, I got a VERY different screen where it wanted me to run these tests. It ended up disappearing, but I was baffled by it. I have also recieved a message on my computer saying that my iPOD is corrupt, and I need to restore it, which I did, but it did not take care of the issue.
I am still under the 90 day return policy, and I was wondering if I should return it, or if I have somehow placed the iPOD into a weird setting everytime I restore it. Any help would be appriciated. Thank you for your time.
    -Heather

    AliasailA, you are kidding, right??
You cannot use someone else's serial number or Apple Care Plan--it doesn't work that way.
I noticed you had another post that said the mini was given to you and has a "sad face icon" and out of warranty. Hummmm.
You really have to send that mini in for repair/replacement or consider it a lost cause. Maybe it is time to buy an iPod Nano for yourself.

  • I have an ipod mini....and I have an Ipod jack in my 2007 Honda Accord

My Ipod mini will not play in my car but my son's Ipod touch does. The handbook in the car says I need a Ipod later then generation 3 or 4 I cannot remember is there anyway to fix or update to newer software??

    Hi,
Unfortunately, the iPod Mini was from 2004, and only had 2 Generations. If you have an Aux out, then I'd use that, as that will work. The earliest iPod that most cars support is the 5th Gen Video.

  • My first gen ipod mini does no longer sync with itunes 11.0. It says "cannot write or read". Ist this the end?

My first gen ipod mini (that I use in my car) does no longer sync with itunes 11.0. It basically says "cannot write or read". Is this the "end of life" of that ipod?

You mean you can't get to the Summary pane?
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

  • Having TWO problems with my iPod mini.

I've had my ipod mini for a year and a half. I only ever use it 2-3 times a week for 30 mins at a time at the gym, and sometimes in the car. Already I'm having two problems.
Problem #1- Battery. I've noticed alot of other people on here seem to be having this problem aswell. I'll charge it fully and leave it in the charger over night. I disconnect it, Start playing it, and 1 or 2 songs later I get the message saying "battery low, please connect to power source" It just came OFF a power source. I have 2 different ways that I charge my ipod. I use the computer. And I have a clock radio that it sits in to play the ipod and charges it at the same time. It dosen't matter which I use.. I have the problem either way.
Problem #2- When the battery actually is working(which is rare) sometimes the music sounds like it's under water. Basically, The music plays, but with very low bass. I usually either listen to it through my car adapter, or through my headphones and I get the same problem either way. This isn't all the time though.
I've never dropped it, gotten it wet or left it in the sun. It's had no physical damage at all.
Does anyone know what may me going on? I've followed the steps and tips from other posts on the battery issue but nothing has worked for me. The only thing I can think of (and probably the only thing anyone can recommend) is that I send it in to get it repaired. However, I refuse to do that. I don't think I should have to pay to repair apple's 1.5 year old products especially since I paid close to $300 for it in the first place. I also don't want to receive a refurbished one, I want MINE fixed or a brand new one(which I know won't happen).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    1. Place 1 drop of rubbing alcohol on the home button.
    2. Press the button repeatedly with pencil eraser making sure to get liquid into area surrounding button.
    3. Dry off area with paper towel.
    4. Press home button until it works again.

  • Ipod Mini battery - how long?

I have a 2nd gen Ipod mini 4Gb. I estimate that the battery lasts 10 - 12 hrs max with 50% vol and minimal hunting round the menu. I have just got an itrip and despite griffin's statements, it looks like its chewing battery!
How long do you folks get with normal operation and how long with an itrip mini attached?

I have a 2g 4GB mini and the itrip, On a few long car trips I've found that a full battery will last 7-8 hours, beyond that I had to buy a car charger. On about 10+ car trips the battery has lasted into the 7-8 hour range.
    Hope that helps.
