Ipod mini keeps turning itself on???????

My 4GB ipod mini keeps turning itself on. It does this even when it is locked. This is a real pain as it keeps running the battery completely flat.
Can anyone suggest why this happens & how to stop it?
Many thanks.

Your welcome. Another thing I ought to have mentioned is to check calendar events also. : )

  • My iPod mini keeps turning itself on.

Well my iPod mini keeps turning itself on although i've turned it off and put it on hold. It's draining the battery and it's annoying me as when i go to use it i can't because the battery is flat. Does anyone know why it's doing this and can help me please?

Sounds like an alarm is set.
Go to Extras>Clock>Alarm Clock and turn off the alarm.

  • Ipod mini keeps turning itself back on whenever I turn it off.

My ipod mini turns itself on whenever I turn it off. It's still under guarantee but if I get new one will I be able to download the music from itunes or will I need to start again?

Are you putting the iPod on Hold using the slider whenever you turn it off? The clickwheel is quite sensitive and a touch will bring it back on. If you were to get another one, as long as all your songs are in iTunes you would just have to connect it to your computer and it would pretty much walk you through the installatation and automatically update.

My iPad mini keeps turning itself off and then the apple logo keeps flashing constantly, i have charged it fully and restored it many times. what can i do?

If you have restored to factory settings and started as new, there is nothing more that you can do on your own. Make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them for help. You might have a hardware problem and the Apple Store techs will be able to determine that.

  • My iPod touch keeps turning itself off

My iPod touch keeps turning itself off. My iPod is fully updated and charged. When i try and turn it on the apple symbol comes on but a bit later turns itself off again (even when on a charger) what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 2G 32GIG iPod Touch Keeps Turning Itself Completely Off????

I've got a 2g 32gig iPod touch that constantly turns itself completely off if I let it sit for 5 minutes or so. It's not locking...It's completely turning itself off. I need to reboot it to get it going again. I thought it might be the older 2v software so I've updated to the most current 3.1.3 or something. Still doing it. Is there anything I can try. I started the music playing and it keeps playing all night. However, once I let it sleep it will only come back on if I try and use it within a few minutes. After that it's off. The battery is fine. If it stays plugged into the USB it is also fine. I'm stumped. Doesn't make any sense.
Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated. This thing cost way too much for this to happen just months after the warranty expired.

    Have you tried:
    - resetting it:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the
Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring it from backup via iTunes
    - Restoring it to factory defaults via iTunes.

  • Ipod mini keeps turning on  and off all the time. Help

I got this ipod mini in may, it worked great, but then all of a sudden it started to turn on and off once in a while mostly now it happens once a day..i checked if maybe the timer was set but it wasnt at all, can i fix it by myself or do i have to send it back to the factory for the warranty repair.

the same thing is happening to my ipod mini, I received a brand new mini in July, and every time I use it it shuts on and off whenever I touch it, even with a fully charged battery, and it also shows the battery sign, do i need to get it serviced?

  • My Ipod Nano keeps turning itself off halfway through a song, anyone know why this happens?

I have had my Nano since November and have downloaded cds and music of downloads.  When I play the ipod halfway through a song the ipod turns itself off. Do you think this is a fault with the Ipod or am I doing something wrong when downloading the music?

    Hey jokoboco,
At this point get your ipod service with apple. Have your Serial number ready. Sounds like your iPod has a hardware issue, a kind of defect. Use any of these options:

    or
    1800 MY APPLE
    or

    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod mini randomly turning itself on

ok so that probably sounds weird. but i'll turn my mini off using the standard method (Hold the play/pause key til it switches off) and it'll go off so i put hold on for safe measure. a few hours later (this is between 2 and 12 hours) i'll randomly realise that my mini has infact, switched itself back on. nothing has touched it - remember, it's also been placed in hold so i can't turn it on.
    any ideas what's going on?

You most likely have an alarm set.
To check go to extras/clock/alarm and set it to off. Check the calendar also, extras/calendar/alarm.

  • My iPod Mini keeps turning off!!

I have had my iPod for over a year...and recently it has been telling me i have no battery power left and I need to charge it. But it tells me that when I have battery power left. Sometimes its completely charged when it says that. My friend tells me that it means it's broken. I dont know if I should buy a new one or send my iPod in. I have already sent it in once for problems. Please help me!

    I had a similar problem.
I took the mini to a local apple store and the support person performed a "low level" format on the mini, zeroing-out all the sectors on the HD.
He said that there could be corruption on the disk that your just now hitting. Makes sense, I guess. Haven't had the problem reoccur, yet.

  • My iPod Nan keeps turning itself off!

When ever I try to play music via the 'Music' section - my iPod resets itself. How annoying!
It can still play via 'Shuffle songs', and it knows there is music on there via 'Settings'and 'About'.
This is a primarily hadware issue - can anyone help me?

    Hi Keemananman,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Are you sure its not in a sleep mode? Knowledge Base Document #60945 goes over The iPods Different Sleep Modes. Is it just through the Music menu? Have you tried putting your music on in a playlist then listening to it. You might need to try "The Five Rs".
    I hope that helps,

  • After updating my iPod 4 and my iPhone 3gs to 5.1 it keeps turning itself off whenever I'm trying to load a larger web-page, or doing some hard operations. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Have yu tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IPod keeps turning itself on and off but wont start

My iPod has been turning itself on, but before it's past the screen with the apple it turns itself back off and it will repeat doing that until the battery runs low then it will sit on the battery screen for a few minutes. After it gets some juice it starts back up with this crap. I figured it wasnt the battery because it was almostly completly fully charged when it started happening. It was when I was charging it, and when I was done I removed it from the computer properly; pushed the button to start it up and its been doing this disturbing ritual since. Ive tried every thats been suggested on this site, and I'd love to restore it, but iTunes doesnt reconize it. I've been trying to fix it for hours working with both the iPod and Windows but nothing seems to have any affect on it. I am afraid I'm going to have to replace the entire thing.
If anybody knows anything that might help, please, I'll take any form of it ya got.

I posted something earlier this week and i realized we have the exact same problem!!!! Sorry, but the bad news is that restore won't work!!! I put it on disk mode so the computer finally recognized it. It also charges on disk mode. I charged it for over an hour. But after i tried restore, it went back its old routine! Now I'm starting to charge it on normal mode for four hours, just in case. Have you tried the 'drain it for 24 hours' thing? I've seen it on several websites, but haven't tried it yet.
