Ipod mini not recognized by iTunes 7
When I was at my Uncle's house downloading music, I did too many songs at once and it froze...just stopped updating but the iPod summary page still showed up.
Now, on my dell laptop, my ipod is recognized by the USB drive because the drive folder is shown when it's plugged in and it IS charging, but it's not showing up with iTunes. Any clues, anyone? Any help at all would be great.
Also, I just noticed this "record"...when I got back from my uncle's house I had the iPod plugged in before start up and before windows loaded, the computer gave me this. After this I changed the drive to I.

I bought my mini in 2005, and I had no problems until last night. I just bought a new song and I plugged my ipod in to update, but it didn't show up. At first Windows recognized it, but then it didn't. My brother has a nano, so I plugged that in to see if it was my computer or my ipod, and Itunes saw it right away. I tried looking at my service options, but when I typed my Serial number in, it said it was not right. I double-checked, and I typed the number in right. What should I do?

Need help? Some of my Ipods are not recognized by Itunes with my Windows 8 PC. (Ipod Nano 4th gen and Ipod Nano 6th gen), but on my Windows 7 PC, they work fine. My Ipod 3rd gen and Ipod shuffle work both on Windows 8 and 7 PC's. On the non-working Ipods, the Device sync test says "No device found". reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8. After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes. My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem. I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

Have you tried on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem?

Sorry, but you need iTunes 11 which requires OS 10.6 or higher and a Mac with an Intel processor. In other words, you need a newer Mac.

After I updated my ipod and my itunes, now the ipod is not recognized in itunes. I went through all the recommended steps; starting and stopping various programs on my control panel, turning ipod on and off, checking cables - everything short of standing on my head. In the process of all that, I realized that the menu/task bar on the upper left side of the itunes page was gone. It wasn't there when I started this odyssey and it still isn't there.. I uninstalled and installed itunes again. I have Windows 8. Still no menu and still not recognizing the ipod. My ipod is 32gb touch screen. Probably 3 years old or so. Was working fine before the updates......

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. -

The cord might be the case, but first, try these suggestions:
Try putting your iPod into disk mode, then try connecting it to your computer again...

Do you have a wall charger? If so, then try connecting your iPod to that, and does it charge, or not?
