IPod mini regarding different computers and missing files
a few questions linger in my mind and I haven't got the balls to do them..
1. I set iTunes to manual, I mean, everything to manual... but once when I inserted my mini, it didn't detect some songs which I got from music burned into CDs (my iPod automatically updated)... I had to copy those music to my computer each time... (considering the limited amount of space I have).. now I'm scared to connect...
2. Is it safe to use my mini to and fro Windows and Apple, and vice versa?
3. Is there any way to transfer music from another person's computer without losing any of mine?
I'm such a noob.... :P sorry...
Unsure of exactly what you meant in question 1 but for question 2... You can use an iPod that has currently been used on a Windows system (with an Apple) but not the other way round e.g You cannot use an iPod that's been used on an Apple system with Windows, Windows to Apple not Apple to Windows and question 3... I don't think you can do that, I think that would be breaking a few laws

Using iTunes/Ipod mini on multiple computers (many questions)
Hello I recently purchased another computer for myself. I would like to use iTunes and my ipod mini on this computer but I would also like to continue to use it on my family's main pc. Is this possible? Do I have to worry about that deauthorization of computers, or the license, or is it fine to use on two pcs? I just don't know how all that stuff works but I think I remember something about having iTunes on one pc only.
Now for the second part of my questions. How do I actually go about transfering iTunes and my ipod to another pc? Do I just install iTunes like normal and transfer my files using an external hard drive? My family pc will remain as the main one for now but eventually I'll switch it to my laptop. I don't care about playlists and song ratings because I don't bother with that. What I want to do is simply have the music that's on my family pc put onto my laptop. I have bought an external hard drive so I could transfer the music without much problems.
Finally can I switch between my laptop and home pc? I mean can I use my mini from my laptop and then later update it from my home pc and do other things like that. I'll use the songlist from my home pc for now but eventually my laptop will become my main one. I know I read something about clicking no if I want to change the music library when plugging in my ipod to another pc. Do I have to keep both iTunes updated to the same version and the songlist the same? I'm wondering if there will be any conflicts between the two.
I'm sorry about how confusing this all is and the many questions I have but I hope somebody can help out. Thank you.
Ipod mini (not 1st generation) Windows XPhi Gerhard!
you can authorise up to five PCs at one time:
iTunes: About Music Store authorization and deauthorization
this Buegie post is an excellent resource on moving your itunes to a different computer:

and these resources should be helpful with managing the mini from different computers:

Combining 4 iPods/libraries from different computers on 1 computer
I need help! My wife and I purchased 2 iPod minis some time ago, and I set hers up on her laptop. I set mine up on my work computer. Now our two children have an iPod mini and a nano. I want to move everything (all libraries/songs) to one central computer in our house, so we all can share the library. All music in our respective libraries is our own (off of CDs), and we haven't downloaded any songs. Again, I need to be able to have all 4 iPods hooked up to 1 library on 1 computer! Thanks for any help.
One way would be to use the actual iPods and remove the tracks from them to build one central iTunes. There are a number of third party utilities you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection.
YamiPod
PodUtil
PodPlayer
iPodAgent
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive posted in this thread: iPod to iTunes
Keep your iPods in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return them to auto-sync if you wish. -
Using a ipod with two different computers...
I just bought a new laptop and had to download itunes again but when i hook up my ipod it tells me that that ipod is already synced with another computer (my main desktop comp.). Is there a way to use my ipod with two different computers, or can you just use one computer at a time?
thanks!
Dell Inspiron 1505 Windows XPYou can use more than one computer, but you'll have to load your iPod MANUALLY if you do, otherwise it will keep erasing things to match the library it's hooked up to.

IPod mini always turns on and off when plug in iCarPlay Wireless 200
My iPod mini always turns on and off when plug in iCarPlay Wireless 200. Does someone has the same Problem?
I just bought my ICARPLAY Wireless 200-ZML. I have an iPod with clickwheel (20Gb).
When I conncect the ipod to the wireless transmitter the checkmark sign appears, as described in the manual. After that, instead of returning to the ipod menu, the checkmark disappears and turns up again. This keeps on repeating itself. No menu, no sound. Pressing 'S' on the transmitter has no effect.
Is this what you mean? Anyone also seen this? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

i am trying to restore my ipod on a different computer and i have forgot my password and now it wont let get into it on the computer to retore it! Need Help Please
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
I have an ipod mini....and I have an Ipod jack in my 2007 Honda Accord
My Ipod mini will not play in my car but my son's Ipod touch does. The handbook in the car says I need a Ipod later then generation 3 or 4 I cannot remember is there anyway to fix or update to newer software??
Hi,
Unfortunately, the iPod Mini was from 2004, and only had 2 Generations. If you have an Aux out, then I'd use that, as that will work. The earliest iPod that most cars support is the 5th Gen Video.

I have two separate iTunes libraries on different computers and I would like to compact into one. But I cannot without completely erasing one of the libraries. How can I do this without deleting anything?
Copy the content from one computer to another and import the media into iTunes.
Any playlists, playcounts, etc on the computer the content is being moved from will be lost. -

I accidentally unplugged my iPod before ejecting it, which has never been a problem before. But today it says theres no music on it even though it says there's used space. I don't have my iPod backed up and my music is on several different computers. Help!! How do I get my music back?
See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
