Ipod mini screen never worked

Hi
Sounds silly but it's true. I bought an ipod mini green when I was on holidays in Atlanta (USA) in august 2005 but when I went back to France, the screen started to disappear and now I can't see anything on the screen!!! it never fells, I treated really with a lot of precautions...
I don't know what to do, do you think that I can send it to Apple and they will fix it?? and where??? I'm in Scotland for a year for my studies... it is really complicated...
thanks for your help!!
cheers

The warranty for your iPod has expired so the Apple option will be prohibitably expensive.
If you've tried these The Five Rs, then i would suggest a repair option such as this one.

2ng gen ipod touch, Apps NEVER work after sync.
am i missing something? i basically have to lose all my apps in order to add tunes.
its doing my head in, Help pweeeessee..

    Hi
Try to reset your iPod and then deauthorize and reauthorize your computer, then sync the iPod again.
To reset the iPod touch just hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo appear.
You can deauthorize the computer from the iTunes Store menu.

  • Ipod touch screen not working even after resetting to factory specs

ipod touch screen not working even after resetting to factory spec.  lock symbol appears at top

That indicates you have a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod mini si not working and I can't find the answer.

My ipod mini is not working. I have done all the R things. It won't switch on unless I toggle the hold key, once switched on it asks me to choose a language but pressing the select button does nothing. Can it be saved or should I throw it in a heap with my Dyson vacuum?????????

It's no longer under warranty? Rather than throw it away, there are 3rd party repair site here in the UK (iPod Doctor is one).
Might be worth a try because it seems like a hardware issue rather than software.

  • Ipod mini screen has gone dark, and when backlight goes on v

Ipod mini screen has gone dark, and when backlight goes on the centre part with writing etc is almost black with light around edge. will this go? do i need to send it back?

Maybe your backlight is burning out? That's what I would think when the center is black but the edges have light. I'm not sure if a reset would fix the backlight but you can try (hold the menu and center buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo and then release). If I were I'd send it back to Apple but do you know if you are still under warranty? You should be if you've had your iPod less than a year.

  • How do I play my iPod Mini on my work computer using iTunes 7?

I had iTunes 6 on my work computer and I could easily play songs from my iPod Mini while I worked. Then I downloaded iTunes 7. Now I cannot play music from my iPod Mini. iTunes 7 wants me to sync my iPod Mini. But this erases my iPod Mini. Does anyone know how to play music from an iPod on another computer using iTunes 7?

Is your ipod set for "Manually manage music"?
If not, that would explain the problem. Mine is currently set to manually manage music and I'm using it on my work PC with iTunes7
There are however, alternatives to using itunes to playing music from your ipod if you can't get it working...e.g. Pod Player (http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=podplayer.Homepage)
    Hope that's of some help

  • Ipod mini screen issues

I had an first gen. IPOD mini that broke was replaced by apple about 4 months ago. Now the ipod is acting up again. I recently gave this ipod to my sister because I was buying a new one. When I had it, it never had any issues. Now that she has loaded her music on it it has started acting up, I dont know if that is related to anything or not. (maybe a corrupted file she loaded.) The problem is that when you push a button on the ipod to turn it on, it turns on but the second you release the button the screen goes blank. If you put on song, the screen will blank but the song will still play. Also if the backlight is on, the backlight will stay on, but there will be no words on the screen. If you hold down any one of the buttons the screen stays on, even if its a slight push on the buttons it turns the screen on.
I have already tried restoring factory settings, and updating the ipod. Neither of those solutions worked. Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, if neither of those helped the situation you may need to send it in again.

  • My 4GB Ipod Mini Doesn't Work

My Ipod Mini stopped working and anytime I try to charge it, the screen displays the Apple logo and then a low battery logo. I tried charging it for more than 12 hours, but the two pictures remain the same.
    Compaq   Windows XP

    Did you try these?
    iPod won't turn on.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize the iPod is connected.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
When restoring the iPod, it's recommended to put it into disk mode first.

  • How to get ipod touch screen to work?

Hi I have an issue getting my Ipod screen to respond to my touch or any period. It seems to only work on the left side of the screen, which means I can't slide it to my app page or even turn it off. I honestly don't know how it happened? It was out in the sun while I was skating and it never worked since. =c PLEASE HELP I don't think I have a warranty on it. =/

If you restore from a backup, it restore yore settings to the last time you synced to iTunes.  This will restore the latest password, which should now work.

  • Wall Charger Picture on My Ipod Mini Screen

After selecting to restore my ipod mini, the program instructed me to plug in the ipod using a wall charger. I plugged in the ipod using the charger and now the ipod just shows a picture of the wall charher on the screen.
I think the charger might be bad, even though it is new. My ipod charges when plugged into my computer; however, now my computer will not acknowledge the ipod until the restore is completed. Any ideas.
    Thanks

I had the same problem with the AC adapter icon never going off ,even when I had it plugged into the wall. I took it to Circuit City (they had a free clinic this week.) They tried everything too, as a last resort they plugged it in using a firewire. That did the trick, fixed it. I think they sell firewires for around $30. Hope this helps.

  • Ipod mini screen scratches

I have a few scratches on the screen of my ipod mini. Any suggestions for removing them? Thanks!!!

    Hello Joan,
You may not beleive it, I used the original toothpaste and managed to remove some scratches on the screen of my iPod . However, if you do not want to take this risk go and buy this stuff - RadTech Ice Cream iPod Acrylic Polish, which works as well ..

  • Ipod Mini screen

I just got an ipod mini and the screen keeps fading so I turned the contrast to the maximum and it was good for a minute or so then it faded again. With the contrast a max the screen is still as if the contrast was at minimum. the rest works fine so what should I do.

    Christopher,
If you just got it (I assume it's brand new), you would be better off returning it for an exchange.
You could try restoring it, but this sounds like more than a software issue.

  • 1st Gen iPod Mini won't work with new version iTrip

    Hello all,
I cannot get my new iTrip (which connects to the bottom of the iPod) to work with my girlfriends iPod mini 1st generation. The new iTrip works fine on my video iPod but not on her mini.
We had the original iTrip and that worked fine but nothing is happening at all when the music is playing and the iTrip is connected. Anything i need to do or install to get this working? I have tried to search the discussions but failed to find a similar problem.
Any help or info will be much appreciated.
    Many thanks.

Ah, i seemed to have fixed it! Well i've been trying for a few weeks now to sort this out and as soon as i put up a post it works. Oh well at least its working now. It seems like that the iPod needs to be playing BEFORE the iTrip is plugged in the turn it on.
    I'll get me coat...

  • Brand new ipod touch screen not working properly

My sons brand new ipod touch 32gb (well bought april 14) only occasionally will respond to the touch sceen, and when he does get into it the next screens dont work properly. Any suggestions?

Try #2 and 3 in link below. If neither help, it's most likely a hardware issue then. Contact Apple and get it serviced.
