Ipod mini short playback time

I just bought an ipod mini about a month ago, and haven't put much use to it yet, but i have used it. i've noticed that it has a short battery life after i charge it. the last time i charged it, the battery indicator immediately went down just a little bit after i unplugged it from charging. so, i plugged it back in to charge back up the rest of the way. Then, i didn't use it for probably 2 days, and when i turned it on, the battery indicator was half empty. then a week went by without using it and the next time i turned it on and the battery indicator was on its last bar. whats up with that?

I have a first generation ipod mini and I was having the same issue. the battery would say that the charge was completed, but then I would try and play it and it would die really fast. it wasn't holding a charge that well. I called apple and I am still covered under warranty and thus, they sent me a brand new ipod in a about a week. not only is the battery problem solved, but its brand new and still in the plastic.

  • Ipod mini dies every time we have a power outage-help!

my ipod mini dies every time our power goes out.it has been working great with a new(ipodjuice/milliamp)battery, but we've had 2 power outages since, and it shows no signs of life for days and then suddenly next time i pick it up the logo is showing and we're back to normal.we've got a safety switch on our mains circuit board, every electronic gadget is plugged into surge protector power board, and yet this happens every time. the ipod lives on its no-brand charger/speaker-could this be the culprit? & now it's got a new battery it takes forever to fully discharge & come back to life.

  • IPod mini reboots every time I turn it on

As of late, my 2nd gen. iPod mini has been acting up. It seems when I don't use it for longer than a few hours, it reboots when I turn it on. By reboots I mean it takes a few seconds showing nothing and then the apple sign comes on. Shortly after that the menu comes on and everything is as it should. After it reboots everything works properly and all my settings are still set. I guess its okay because it still works, but its quite annoying. Any suggestions?

The iPod goes into deep sleep after a period of inactivity of about 36 hours. If it's happenning after just 5 or 6 hours, that's not normal.
    You should try restoring it.
If this doesn't help, then you might consider just ignoring it. Rebooting in this manner isn't hurting your iPod although it's a nuisance.

  • IPod Mini, the third time around...

I've had quite a few problems with the Mini.
The Apple Store has replaced my Mini 3 times, and I wish "the third try's a charm" could apply in this case. The other two were replaced due to faulty batteries (they would not last over 2 hours) and then a faulty click-wheel.
    For my third,
1.) I plugged in my Mini to my USB port and got the folder with the exclamation point.
2.) I scavanged the Support site for advice, trying the 5Rs.
3.) My iPod Mini is now locked on the Apple logo. I can't get it to go to Disk Mode. Pressing Menu+Select makes the logo appear again, but nothing happens after that.
4.) Downloaded the iPod Updater just for kicks; it doesn't recognize it. My Computer does not recognize it either.
I'm very tired of experiencing all these problems with the Mini. If there's no technical advice you can give me, could you at least tell me how to convince the Apple Store to give me a nice Nano instead :P ?

    Reset your mini.

Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

  • How to put songs on housemate's (same computer) iPod Mini ???

Hi everybody, backward dino posting question. Bought 2 new (green, blue) iPod Minis in 2005 and then got so busy, never touched them until today, too busy with unexpected events. So they're brand new.
Have an iBook G4 14". 2 accounts on it; mine and Lynn's, my domestic partner. My iTunes Library is just fitting on this iPod Mini, short of 4G. All my music was imported from CDs I own. Flip on same computer to Lynn's account, and she has about a dozen songs in her iTunes Library that she purchased from iTunes Store. All she has.
*How can I put my iTunes Library on her iPod Mini?* Can't find the info in the Help feature. I already have my Library on Share.
Same time in 2005 bought a Bose SoundDock at Apple Store so could listen to iPod loud in house. Everything's working splendidly except can't figure out how to put my playlists onto Lynn's iPod.
    Help! Thanks!
    Leska

In your iTunes, create a new playlist called "Lynn", and copy the music from yours to the playlist, then connect Lynn's iPod with the computer, do a Restore for the iPod and register it to sync with Lynn's playlist that you just created for her

  • IPod mini won't load software

I just bought a new iPod mini and each time I try to load the software onto my pc I get a message that says error 0. I don't know what to do

From what I've been reading on the iTunes forums, updating to the latest version of iTunes (6.0.3), has sometimes cured the issue of the freeze up.

However, have you considered that the song(s) it stops at may be corrupted in iTunes and causing the freeze up? Does it always happen at the same song(s)?

  • IPod Mini Stuck On 'Language'

I have reset the iPod Mini a hundred times, but when the Apple disappears, the 'Language' list appears and thats it. Doesn't move from there at all. Nothing responds.... no scrolling, nada. Cant select the language type displaye either.
    Sugestions anyone?

This might help: Restore Your Ipod to Factory Settings
It will delete everything on your iPod, though.
    Good luck!

  • Ipod Mini playback sound distortion

Just received Ipod mini for Christmas, have all current updates downloaded, music plays fine from itunes. When playback from ipod, can hear the music but words/voice is distorted. Hooked up to computer speakers same problem. Reset several times as read in a few suggestions, still same problem. Can anyone help?

i had the same problem with playback through the mini. I think it has something to do with a disconnection between the headphone jack and the motherboard. Apparently the soddering wasn't too good. I took mine to the apple store and they replaced it, right there, on the spot.

  • IPod Mini not recognized by iTues or Computer since last time I connected.

I am creating this as a new post to get some data not a fix. If you find an answer start a new post.
Around Thanksgiving my iPod Mini that worked for over a year is no longer recognized by iTunes (Actually it shows as a bad file folder then dissapears in Windows Explorer).
I did everything the trouble shooting instructions suggest at least 5 times, except I can't restore because the computer does not recognize the iPod.
I was about to give up on iPods when... in a meeting at work I learned 3 out of 5 iPod users said the same thing happen since Thanksgiving and the others don’t think they have sync'ed yet.
Please just post a ME TOO! response if you have the same issue described above and (In this order):
1.You can not get the iPod into the Disk Mode.
2.You have reset your iPod while pluged into your computer.
3.You have double checked you connections and tried different USB ports on the same computer.
4.You restarted your computer and made sure you have the latest windows software updates installed.
5.Removed iTunes software and then reinstall latest iPod and iTunes software.
6.CAN NOT RESTORE your iPod because your computer does not recognize it.
If this describes your issue PLASE REPLY with ME TOO!
Hopefully the number of responses to this post will get someone’s attention at Apple.

  • IPod Mini continually skips tracks all the time every half a second!

My iPod Mini continually skips tracks all the time every half a second. The only thing that stops it is if you press pause but once you press play off it goes again. This means noi music is able to be played because it's always skipping. The menu button works as does the backlight if you hold the menu button down. The enter button works and the touch pad navigation also works. Both skip buttons have no effect on the unstoppable skipping. Can anybody help or at least verify the problem with other users of simular problems and if they were able to fix them simply, without having to go to an Apple dealer (it's out of warrenty i think)Any help would be appreciated.

The new one i recieved did come with a 1 year warranty, but since then i have moved to spain from Ireland. Does anyone know if Apple will repair it for me a second time????????? and... will i have to go to Ireland? I would be grateful for any help on this one.

Much like your iPod, the warranty has expired. It expired in August 2006.
The warranty on replacement iPods is for 90 days, or the remainder of the original 12 month warranty whichever is the longer period.

  • My ipod mini locks up ALL THE TIME

I think I may have gotten a lemon. My ipod mini just stops playing and none of the buttons work until I reset it. This happens at least once every time I use it sometimes two or three times. Really annoying. My boyfriend has an ipod mini and uses it at least 7 hours a day. His has only needed to be reset once ever.

Very possibly your iPod is faulty. Is it new, or has it ever worked correctly?
Before you think about sending it off for service, have you tried restoring it?
