Ipod mini stops playing songs when it hasnt been updated

after a little while off the charger my ipod mini will not play my purchased songs. is there something wrong with it? do i need to get it fixed?

hey yea my ipod mini does the same thing i dont kno
what to do either!
Did you see my post?
Also, try these...
Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they play?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer...
iTunes
iPod Updater
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs work now?
If they still won't work...
Deauthorize the computer. (Go to advanced-->deauthorize computer in iTunes)
Create a new user in the system. (Start-->control panel-->user accounts-->create a new account)
Download the free song of the week in the new user account. (First, log out of the current user and log in to the new user account. Then open iTunes and download the free song)
Play the song in that username to authorize it.
Restore the iPod in the New User account, sync just the Free song of the Week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it plays fine on the iPod when syncing with this user name (after you followed the above instructions), it would indicate a bad iTunes Library File. Post back for instructions on how to fix that.
Now, if it still won't work (you followed the above instructions with the new user account) and the iPod still won't play the songs, then post back.

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • IPod mini stops playing in middle of songs

After hemming and hawing for a while, I decided to buy an iPod. After all, all the cool people already had one.
So less than a week ago, I bought a 4 GB iPod mini from Apple's online store. I'm already having a problem.
I copied music over to the iPod and at first everything seemed fine. Then I realized that several of the songs wouldn't play all the way through. After trying a few again, I verified that they were stopped at specific points. (That is, it wasn't just randomly stopping.)
At time 1:55 on one song, for example, it would just stop as if it had reached the end of the song and go to the next on the playlist. The display showed the correct length of the song.
As an experiment, I removed several of these problematic songs from the iPod and then added them again. The exact same problem recurred. Also, the times at which they stopped were the same.
The songs play perfectly fine on my computer in both iTunes and Windows Media Player. The length of the songs are correctly displayed in WMP, iTunes, and on the iPod. However, the iPod simply won't play them past a particular point.
Can anyone help me solve this problem?
If not, can anyone tell me how to go about asking for a refund?

In case anyone was wondering, I managed to fix the problem.
The problem was that the format of songs downloaded from iTunes wasn't always working correctly on the iPod due to the digital rights management.
    So, I removed the DRM.
This was probably illegal. I really have no idea.
In any case, I was reduced to an act of piracy to get my legally purchased music to play as advertised on my legally purchased music player.
    Ain't technology grand?

  • HELP ME- ipod mini wont play songs!

i have rescently moved houses and had to load my ipod mini on to a new computer and new i tunes list. I re loaded all my music on to the new list and transfered my ipod to factory settings to wipe all my old music. But when i went transfer all of my music to my ipod everything went bad!
my ipod says it has the songs on it but when i go to play them it plays none of them and just skips them all! Also when my ipod is connected to itunes i cant play the songs that are said to be in my ipod, but all the songs in my library play perfectly! (which are the same as the ones in my ipod)
please help me im going crazy!!!

    Hello Anna,
Have you any tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store? Did you authorise the new computer: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation you could also have a look here: Troubleshooting songs that skip on iPod
One last thing, when your iPod is connected to iTunes and you try to play it through the computer do you get Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen? This would mean that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. The display still shows that music is playing, but it doesn't start playing until I reset it. Then sometimes the sad iPod will show up and I have restored it 3 times now and this is still happening... is it shot??

  • Ipod mini not playing songs

    Help
Have had Ipod mini for 18 months and since downloading latest ipod software it is being v temperamental! If you choose an album to play it will start then immediately skip through all songs to end and go back to menu. This is happening on existing albums (ie have been on for some time), new imports and strangely new imports that played 2 days ago.
    Can someone suggest anything
    Custombuilt; XP SP2; 1.2ghz athlon; 512mb RAM;

Play the purchased songs once on your computer. Just go into iTunes, click on the purchased song, and hit the play button. Let it play the song(s), then exit iTunes.
Hook your iPod up to your computer. iTunes should open automatically, as per usual, and will load the songs (if you have chosen to update automatically). Once the update is complete, try the iPod. Mine worked after doing this, thanks to the poster above.

  • IPod Randomly Stops Playing Songs

Hi, Some songs on my iPod Touch running version 3.1.2, (mostly songs that I downloaded a long time ago) stop playing abruptly about 30 seconds before the song is over. The iPod says that the song is playing, but no audio is coming out. It is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or had found a solution. Thank you for helping me.
P.S. The songs play fine on my 4th generation iPod, (A.K.A. the "iPod Click Wheel") so I know the files are not corrupt.

No, I don't. Even if I did, that would not explain why no audio comes out of the speakers / headphones.

  • TS2634 Why does my apple iPod touch just automatically stop playing songs and it also when I am doing a google search just goes back to the home screen

My iPod touch just stops playing songs automatically.
When doing a google search it sometimes times goes back to the home screen.
Also it sometimes takes several goes before it will accept the charger!
    Would appreciate any help, thanks

    - The charging issue could be due to a poor connection or a problem with the iPod. Try another cable first
    - Try the following, it is mainly for the not playing and other problems:
    Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why does my ipod classic stop playing after a few songs?

why does my ipod classic stop playing after just a few songs?

is your battery charged?  How many songs do you have on the playlist (if you are playing a  playlist when it stops)?   I know that when the earbud wires are accidentally disconnected from the ipod body, the music stops automatically.

  • Ipod shuffle stops playing the song after a few seconds

My Ipod shuffle stops playing the song after a few seconds, i can skip to the next song but it happens again for every song..
the thing is its random, sometimes 5secs or 10 secs or at the most a whole minute
i have updated, restored, reinstalled an all that but i really dont want to send it back as im in afghanistan and would be weeks before i see it again an i use eveyday!! for running.. i thought maybe sweat had got inside it, its not the headphones i have already tried swapping them.
please help out a soldier in need?

mine is doing the same thing; I have updated it, and restored the factory settings, and it still isn't working. I use mine for running as well; I think it has something to do with the sweat. Hopefully someone posts with a fix.

  • IPod stopped playing songs

I have an iPod mini that used to work.
I linked it to another PC (and iTunes) for a few seconds and since then my ipod will not play anything.
You can see all the songs that I used to have on the ipod, and when you try to play an album it just skips through each song, just displaying the name on the ipod for about half a second, then displaying the next song, and so on.
When I look on the ipod, the available space is 3.7mb which is the max it can be, so it looks as though the actual songs on the hard drive have been deleted, but the names remain.
I have tried connecting it to my pc a number of times, have tried getting updated versions of iTunes and iPod updater, but to no avail.
    Any suggestions ?

You may want to read the user's guide at
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPodmini(2ndGen)UserGuide.pdf
which states the following which is most likely your scenario:
Transferring Songs and Playlists to iPod mini Automatically
By default, iPod mini updates automatically when you connect it to your computer.
iTunes updates the iPod mini music library to match the songs and playlists in your
computer’s music library, transferring new songs to iPod mini and deleting songs from
iPod mini that aren’t in your music library.
You can set iPod mini to transfer only certain songs in your iTunes music library. This is
useful if you have more music on your computer than will fit on your iPod mini.
By connecting to another PC, you may have begun the update process which deletes your music first and then attempts to match what is found in iTunes on the PC you connected to... You should view your ipod mini as a hard disk storage device and check to see if there are any songs on it. I imagine if you connect back to the original PC with your iTunes account, it should hypothetically resynch it and place all your songs back onto the device if any are missing. That is if you haven't mucked up your original iTunes library.
The most common troubleshooting recommendation for ipods doesn't hurt also. That is, reset the device by switching the hold button to on and off. Then press the menu and select buttons simultaneously for 6 secs.
    Good luck!
    ~Eric

  • IPod stops playing song and becomes unresponsive...

My iPod classic stops playing, and the iPods menu won't respond. After 30 seconds or so it works again, and acts as if it had been playing all along (it has moved along to the next song)... any ideas on how to fix this? I reset the thing already to no avail..

I had this  issue too, but it was skipping the song either on Mac and iPhone.
For me worked erase the song in all the devices and download it again.
