IPod mini to iTunes

My G4 powerbook was stolen a few weeks ago, along with my ENTIRE iTunes library... :-(((( However I still have some of the music from my library on my iPod mini. Can I transfer ANY of this into the library on my new computer? I now have an iMac Intel desktop. Can I even use the iPod mini with the new computer without losing all the previous music in the reset?

Thanks, I had already managed to retrieve a few iTunes store purchases that were on the iPod, but the rest is mostly a selection of music I'd collected over the past four years from CD's etc, most of which I've given away now:-(

  • Restore ipod mini freezes itunes and doesn't restore

I can't manage any music on my ipod mini with itunes. So I decided to try the restore...Everything goes smoothly until I get to the progress bar where itunes is "restoring" my ipod. After an hour of waiting and the bar sitting at about a millimeter completed I close itunes. I've also updated, and reinstalled itunes many times. My music is still on my ipod and it still charges and works perfectly except when I want to manage my music. Please help :P

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Mini and iTunes 7

I have an iPod Mini and I recently downloaded iTunes 7.0.1. For some reason, my podcasts won't import to the podcasts folder on my iPod. Is there any way to work around this, or will I just have to listen to them under songs instead?
    Dean

First, I have to say that video potcast won't be synced to a iPod without the video feature. Okay,... If that isn't the problem then plug in your iPod and open iTunes. Click the iPod icon on your source list. Click the "Podcast" tab on the top and check sync all podcasts. If that is already selected, then you should select "selected podcasts" and check everyone of them.

  • Mac formatted iPod mini to iTunes on PC

I have an iPod Mini that's mac formatted, and i do not have access to my mac at the moment. I am trying to upload all my songs on my ipod into this PC...by using MacDrive v.6.1.5. iTunes is detecting the ipod as it should, but i can't seem to drag and drop the songs on my iPod into the iTunes music library. Frustrated as ****...and after talking to a PC using friend of mine, he also has the same exact problem..but his iPod is PC formatted. So it's not because of the cross platform via MacDrive...Any idea on how to extract the songs out of my ipod into the PC? Please help.

  • How do I copy music from my iPod mini to iTunes?

I accidentally deleted music from iTunes and can't find the original CD. The music is on my iPod mini, but I can't copy the music from the mini to iTunes. Help, please. Thanks!
    PC   Windows XP

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.

  • Problems with iPod mini in iTunes 7

I recently installed iTunes 7.0.1.8 on my PC and have been having problems with my iPod mini (Windows format, software version 2.6.1). Initialy I could not see the iPod in iTunes but I followed the advice in a support article to change the Startup Type under Terminal Services Properties to "manual" which seemed to work.
However now new music that I have purchased will not transfer because it says that my iPod software is too old; but the Update button on the Summary tab in my iPod Preferences is greyed out - help?!

    Hi MarcelitaL,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with syncing your iPod mini:
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
If you see your iPod in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8) but not in iTunes under Devices, try these steps. Start at the top and work your way through the steps until iTunes recognizes your iPod.
If you don't see your iPod in My Computer, follow these steps.
This document is for Windows users and most older iPod models. See the following articles if you have this issue on:
    A Mac
An iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch)
An iPod nano (5th or 6th generation) (and you see an alert message in iTunes when you connect the device)

There is also a strange lock symbol beside the Memory status bar on the bottom of the screen. Has anyone ever seen this before or know what to do if if does appear???

  • Arrgh!!  Ipod Mini launches ITunes but isn't recognized

Just about at my wit's end. After struggling for 10+ hours with first mini and finally finding it was defective, got replacement from store. After inital installation, computer would recognize IPod but ITunes didn't and screen stuck on do not disconnect. After resetting, reinstalling IPod and ITunes, updating to 9-23-05 versions, restoring IPod, etc. etc., it is finally at a point where when I plug it in it does launch Itunes, but is not recognized. Any thoughts about what to do next?
This is all on my laptop (Dell 600M with XP Pro SP2, fully updated). on my desktop, windows recognizes the IPod but neither Itunes or the IPod updater recognize it.
    All suggestions appreciated.

This is a very common problem that people are having with minis/iTunes 5.X and indeed that i myself have. The only solution atm is to go to http://filehippo.com/download_itunes.html?184 and dll itunes 4.9, then uninstalling iTunes from the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and then obv installing 4.9... I'm going to keep looking out for future updates of iTunes where this prob is resolved but atm the only solution is to regress =(....iTunes 4.9 and iTunes 5.0 are not extremely differenty anyway, honest.
Hope this helps (and please reply if it does)

  • Sudden issue with ipod mini and itunes

    Hi
Up until yesterday I have never had a problem with my iPod then I connected to iTunes (again never had any issue with this) and iTunes said that the iPod was in recovery state. After some messing about which didn't lead to the issue resolving itself I hit restore. The restore seemed to be fine and iTunes then recognised the iPod.
However everytime I now connect my iPod at the top of iTunes it says 'Updating iPod' for a few seconds and then switches to 'OK to disconnect'. I can't copy anything onto it using iTunes so am stuck with an empty iPod now.
Any ideas on how to resolve?
    Thanks,

I'm not certain I understand the problem: have you re-installed iTunes 6 and now are unable to purchase iTunes Store music?
I have an iPod Mini and have used it flawlessly with iTunes 7 on both a G5 iMac and a G4 Cube under 10.4.7, so "incompatibility" is not the issue here.
iTunes 6.0.5 indeed does continue to allow iTunes Store music purchases...if your problem persists, get back to us here with more info!

  • Ipod mini freezes itunes

whenever i conect my ipod to my computer itunes freezes and the nabout 20 seconds later my ipod mini freezes. why??

I have had a similar problem with my iPod click wheel classic - upon connection, iTunes would freeze, upon disconnect things would go back to normal. After much time troubleshooting (format, restoe, r5's, etc) I ran across a post that said to try a different USB cable...now everything is working.

  • Windows recognizes Ipod mini but itunes does not.

i have been having problems lately with windows recognizing my ipod but itunes will not. i have gone to the support page and have tried everything on their twice now and still nothing. i got the updater to recognize it at one point and hit restore but halfway through it said cannot mount and now all my songs are gone.

If your iPod is recognized in "my computer", changing the drive letter can sometimes resolve this issue.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.
    These also may help.
Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
    Strange iPod behavior.

  • Synchro from ipod mini to iTunes

I had to reinstall itunes after formation the hard drive. All my collected songs are stored in my ipod. If I now start to sychro with iTunes, do I lose all my music??

If you automatically sync your iPod to an empty iTunes library, then yes, you will lose all your music.
Look at the instructions/suggestions in this link to get your music from iPod to computer.

  • IPod mini cause iTunes to crash

my iPod causes iTunes to crash. This means I can't repair it/reset it via iTunes. It also has caused my computer to crash. I've tried resetting it etc already... and iTunes works fine when the iPod is not connected.

    I actually found this page
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
    - the restart ipod services section, useful! Managed to get iTunes working for long enough without crashing to reboot the ipod. Took quite a lot of time but got there in the end... and nice and satisfying. Think my iPod has had too many years of abuse from me.
    Thanks for the suggestion!
