Ipod Mini Touch Power Button Broke! :(

Hi, My Ipod touch mini's power button is broken and i am wondering if apple fixes the ipod for free or for money and if you need the warranty still on it to be able to fix it?

Not really. If it's stuck as in you've pressed it and it won't come out, go to your nearest Apple store and they should be able to fix it.
Or:
If you press the button and it doesn't have any effect on the iPod Touch, deffiantly go to Apple as the button may be broken.

I just restored my ipod and the power button works, as well as the home button but when I slide the unlock button it doesn't respond. Basically it is not sensing that I am touching it and I can not get out of the home screen. I've tried restoring it and restarting it but nothing seems to work. I've tried everything, is there anything I can do myself to fix it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Apple will most likely exchange it. The one you receive will be refurbished.

If you forgot your screen-lock passcode then:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.

  • IPod 4th Gen power button broken, game center and some apps won't load.

iPod 4th generation, iOS 6.1.6, power button is broken (will not click at all, I can't let my iPod run out of battery because I won't be able to turn it back on).
Game center, and some of my apps will not load.
I also have issues with apps and Safari crashing, but that isn't a major problem.
For the apps not loading, I've tried deleting them, and then reinstalling them, but it didn't work.
Is there anything I can do about this?

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
For Safari problem try going to Settings>Safari and Clear Cookies<data and History.

  • IPod Touch Power Button Issue?

I have an 8GB 1st Generation iPod Touch (The one without the camera, power button on the left side instead of the right, yada yada yada). I've had it since Christmas, and it's run perfectly well, until yesterday. I began to notice that the power button (the small button at the top) was sticky. Not stuck, but simply sticky. Instead of having to tap it and add a slight pressure to get it to turn on, turn off, lock, ect, I now have to push down so hard that it leaves imprints on my fingers, not to mention that it doesn't always respond, as if it's jammed, and if I'm not very persistent it will lock, but not turn off. I have to try three or four times to turn it off using the power button, though occasionally the screen will flicker like I'm hitting the button multiple times. It's not like the button is stuck - I can still use it, but it's sticky. I was wondering if there is any solution that doesn't require sending my iPod in?
If you need any further explanation feel free to let me know, I'll be willing to tell you. Sending my iPod in isn't a problem really, though if there's a simple fix that I'm not aware of (seeing as this is my first iPod) I'd be much more willing to keep it here.

    Hi,
I have an 32G 2nd generation iPod touch with a problematic on/off button, and I'm not sure this is a physical problem at all.
My touch worked perfectly well until the version 3.0 update, and then I started having problems with the on/off "wake/sleep" button.
I often have to take 3 or 4 attempts to turn the screen off, and then when it does turn off it comes back on again with the "red bar" to switch it off. This is only supposed to happen when you purposely hold down the on/off button, but it does it when it feels like it now!
Like I said, it worked perfectly well on the version 2.0 software, but you couldn't possibly get into DFU mode to return it to version 2 because holding onto the button no longer seems to get the "red" bar to come up, so I've no idea where I am with it! It drives me nuts, but I'm almost positive it's an issue with the software.
Yes, I've tried a restore on several occasions, and turning it off and on so many times I can't count, but the problem never goes away!
I've asked Apple several times to deal with the issue, but they've had at least 6 attempts now, and nothing has been done about it. My Touch will now be stuck on 4.1 forever as I can't get iTunes 10, because I have an old mac that's on 10.4.11.
I'll have to live with it as it is, as I can't afford to upgrade, and I don't want to anyway because it works perfectly well, EXCEPT for this one annoying issue.

  • Is the Ipod Touch power button also a volume control?

Ever since I got my iPod Touch, whenever I press the power button, the volume goes up one level. I never thought anything of it until I started wanting to take screen shots and the volume control icon ends up in the picture, which is REALLY annoying and no one else seems to know why.  I read around under apple support and in discussions, and no one else seems to have this problem. Is this normal? And how can I fix it?
I added a screen shot that I took on my iPod Touch so you know what I mean by volume control icon.

    No it is not

  • IPad Mini Display + Power Button Malfunctioning

HI I just got an iPad Mini (1st generation) two days ago and it was workig fine until today when I was clearing some app data in my settings, then the screen went out. I tried holding the power button to get it back, but it wouldn't work. However, I held in the home button on the bottom, and Siri still worked but I searched for something on the voice command and I couldn't bring up what it found because the display is still out. Can someone please send me options on possible ways to get the display back?  Thank you

I have noticed this same exact thing with my iPad mini with Retina display. I notice it on YouTube, but it does it for only some videos consistently. there is this game called "Don't Starve" that I watch lots of let's plays for on YouTube, and the game has an over all sepia tone to it. Whenever I first start the video, some of the colors look off, but it fades sort of to where it should be. I pinch the video closed and everything looks off *outside* of the video, like there is no contrast, but it then kind of fades back to normal. Sort of weird, not exactly sure whether it is a display problem, or if it is a kind of auto adjustment feature... I notice it NOWHERE but videos. It doesn't really bug me, and I don't mind the screen fading back to where it should be after a video, (because at least the colors do go back to normal, rather than staying washed out!) but at the same time, it does concern me because I am unsure whether this is a software feature to enhance colors in video, or if it is a display problem. I have heard the retina mini does have image retention problems (for some devices only), which means that if a particular image is left on the screen for a long time, and then it suddenly changes, you can see an after effect of the previous image for a bit, which is a screen defect. Also, the iPad mini with retina display does have a lesser color gamut than other apple devices, seen easiest when comparing it with the iPad Air, it even can be seen when comparing to an iPad 3rd generation, or iPad 4th generation. I have observed this between my iPad mini with retina and the iPod touch 5th gen, iPhone 5, and this would also be seen between the iPad mini with retina and iPhone 5S, because the iPhone 5S uses the same screen as the iPhone 5.

  • HT1212 trying to restore ipod but the power button is stuck and i'm unable to turn it off. I don't know the passcode and it says to connect to itunes. what do i do

I tried following the directions that I received about restoring my iPod touch. But there is one flaw. My power button is stuck and I am unable to turn it off. How can I go about either getting it fixed or restoring my iPod?

Easy, first make sure that the itunes on your computer is up to date. Next connect the ipod to your computer. If you have itunes 11.0 or above, wait until the device appears in the upper right hand side of the screen, or you can press ctrl-s, and the side menu will appear, and you can see more clearly the ipod appearing under the device category. Next simply click on the ipod and on the summary screen, you should see restore. Press restore, and you will see a dialog box asking to back-up & restore, restore only, or cancel. If you have information to save, press back-up & restore, if you want to wipe the device clean and start over, press restore. Once it's all done, you should be good.
If your ipod is less than a year old and not a refurbished device, contact Apple at 800-676-2775 for assistance on repair and replace. If you are near an Apple Store, go to http://www.apple.com/retail/ and find your local Apple Store and set-up a genius appointment and go in and have your device repaired or replaced. If your ipod is a refurbished device, it has to be 90 days old or less to be repaired or replaced for free.I hope this helps.

  • My ipod nano's power button is stuck?! What should I do?1

I got my ipod nano 6th generation for christmas. It's been working fine the past months I had it but then suddenly this morning, I found the power button stuck! :/ What should I do?!?!?!

Schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and see if there is anything they can do to help. If they find that the problem is not the result of abuse, they should replace it under the 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects.

  • My mini's menu button broke!

My ipod mini is pretty old (8gb 1st generation), but it's given me very few problems since I bought it. Last week, it went through the washing machine, and we thought we fixed it by sucking the water out with a vacuum and then letting it sit in rice for a few days. It worked perfectly for about 2 days, and then the menu button stopped working, and the ipod was stuck on shuffle. I plugged it into the computer for a bit and it went back to the main menu screen, but the menu button still isn't working when I disconnect it. This means I can't go back once I choose a song, it's stuck there, and I can't reset my ipod either. HELP!

Unfortunately the only way to put the iPhone in recovery mode is by using the home button. If it is broken you won't be able to do this, I'd suggest to get the iPhone replaced by Apple.
