Ipod mini was washed

I tend to take my mini every where and once in a blue moon leave it in my pocket after i change pants. But always before i leave again i grab it. well. non-the-less i left it in my pocket and as i was sleeping my mom decided to clean my room, grabed all my clothes off the floor (yes im a messy teenager) and washed my jeans along with my Ipod!!! and of corse thinking i knew everything i tried charging it all ready and have had it plugged into my computer sence Saturday which was about five days. Still no life and when plugged into a speaker it has a high pitched noise and then thats it. once in a while you can hear the clicking as i rotate the scroll wheel. But thats all it does, no light, no songs. Any ideas or is my mini going to the grave yard?

I don't suppose you need me to tell you that it was a bad idea to try to charge it until it was thoroughly dried out huh?
I think this iPod needs proper repair. iPodResQ is worth a try as they'll give you an estimate.

  • Ipod mini was doused

Hi, My ipod mini was in my athletic bag today, and my nalgene spilled all over both my ipod and cell phone, the phone is fine but my ipods screen is turning various shades of the greyish color backgroud and nothing will come up. however, at the top where the hold button and head phone jack is, the plastic is warped up and i think water may have gotten into my ipod that way. does anyone know what could be done to salvage it?

  • IPod Mini was formatted as "Mac," trying to get it working on PC w Windows

    Against my advice, my daughter just purchased a PC. It's an +HP Acer+, w +Windows Vista+.
Her iPod Mini was *originally formatted* on my computer, an iMac, and all of her iTunes were loaded from this computer.
However, she tried to get it formatted on her new PC. When she did ...from the installation disk that came w her new iPod Mini, and which said it could be formatted for PC and gave the steps to do so...it froze somewhere in the formatting process.
Her computer froze and she could not turn it off. I told her to unplug from the wall outlet and re-boot. It worked and everything on the computer seems to be working.
However, all of her tunes on her iPod are gone. (Quite a few, in the hundreds.)
It would appear that the problem lies in trying to format and transfer tunes that originally came from a Mac-formatted iPod and tunes that came in from Mac iTunes.
But that's just conjecture. I don't know what the problem is.
    Any thoughts? Advice?
    Thanks in advance

    Few points :-
    1. If you format an iPod (Restore to factory setting), it will erase all data on the iPod
    2. You should always go for iTunes to Restore the iPod instead of using the old version iPod updater.
Try to download and install the latest version of Tunes and use to restore the iPod again
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    3. After finishing the Restore, your iPod (formatted now on a PC) will still able to read by your iMac (but not the other way round), do you update with your iMac (transfer back on the songs to the iPod).
    4. Installa 3rd party software on your PC, use it to copy the music from the iPod to the iTunes on the PC. Please do a Google search for the software, there are plenty

  • Problems when iPod mini was transferred between family members

My father and I both have iPod minis. My father, after a few months, decided it was too hard for him to use, and subsequently gave the iPod to my sister. She doesn't have a computer of her own, and would like to use mine to keep her music on. The problem is, when I connect the iPod to my computer, it charges, but isn't otherwise recognized by iTunes. I suspect that this is due to the fact that my father had initally set it up with his laptop, and somehow it is already seen as being registered to a computer that will no longer be using it. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
    Two other semi-related problems:
    * I downloaded a song for my sister, but using my own iTunes account. I want to play this song on her iPod, but again, it won't be recognized by iTunes.
    * She wants to change the name of the iPod (minor, but still an issue). How can you do this?
Any help would definitely be appreciated.

I just fixed this problem. Apparently, after reformating the iPod completely (via the computer, not via the manual way to do it on the iPod itself), it allowed me to change the name and register the iPod on this computer.

  • My 4th generation iPod nano was washed, screen is super dim, how can I fix this?

So a few months ago, I accidentally left my blue 4th generation iPod nano in my pant pocket. My clothes were set to wash with the iPod in my pants. I'd completely forgot about it being in there. After finding out what had happened, I let the iPod soak in a jar of rice for about a month. I took it out to see if anything had worked but it wouldn't turn on.
Thinking it might need a charge, I plugged it in and found that it turns on only while it's plugged in and instantly turns off when unplugged. I also noticed that the screen is extremely dim, even when put on full brightness. It's as if I turned the brightness all the way down, even though I'm putting it all the way up. I also tried connecting it to iTunes to try to see what I could find. The attempt was unsuccesful as the iPod went unrecognized on iTunes v10.5.
I'm not sure what else I could do to fix this. Has anything similar to this happened to you before?
Also, I have a 4th generation iPod touch and iPhone 4. I honestly don't need this iPod at all, but it'd still be nice to get it fixed for extra use.
Thanks for any help in advance!
    -Tony

I would recommend taking it in to your local Apple Store to see what the people at the Genius Bar can do for you.

  • I have an ipod mini....and I have an Ipod jack in my 2007 Honda Accord

My Ipod mini will not play in my car but my son's Ipod touch does. The handbook in the car says I need a Ipod later then generation 3 or 4 I cannot remember is there anyway to fix or update to newer software??

    Hi,
Unfortunately, the iPod Mini was from 2004, and only had 2 Generations. If you have an Aux out, then I'd use that, as that will work. The earliest iPod that most cars support is the 5th Gen Video.

  • Ipod min has stopped being recognised

My ipod mini was installed on my windows XP and tunes bought/downloaded from itunes. Six months later and computer has stopped recognising ipod. Message says to "reset" or "restore" and only the restore option (with subsequent loss of songs) can be activated.
Need suggestions to ensure that original PC recognises ipod.
Posible cause of problem: ipod was connected to a Mac to download songs from a friend's itunes (no songs bought).
    Thanks!

I have now removed and re-installed every piece of Apple Software on my laptop. I assume this would result in the drivers being re-installed.
However, when I plug the iPOD in a message comes up 'Installing Device Drivers'. Then a message comes up that they are installed successfully, but it does also say 'Searching folders for preconfigured drivers...'. After 10 mins I assumed this did not mean anything and closed the window.
It is not convenient for me to check the other computer's drivers. Anyway, the iPOD used to work on this computer. The only thing I have done on this computer re device drivers is to start using a USB mouse (which installed drivers) and I also checked them all for updates. Only the Intel ones updated.
Needless to say the iPOD is still unrecognised in iTunes.
    Any further help much appreciated.

my laptop crashed while my ipod mini was charging and being updated by itunes 7. i switched the computer off while the ipod was still pugged into the computer via usb port. i switched my computer back on. however, my laptop is working perfectly, by my ipod will not switch on (even though i know it had at least charged 3/4) even when i plug it back into the computer there is no sign of life from it. the computer does not pick it up neither does my itunes. i have tried the 5 R's, but to no help. it still will not switch on. the apple logo does not appear neither. my laptop is a advent, using windows xp media centre. i have redownloaded itunes7, but this has not helped either. Any other suggestions?

  • ITunes has killed my iPod-mini

A few days ago iTunes started saying my iPod-mini was "corrupted" and would no longer sync (or add new stuff).
I was suspicious that this was not true, but in order to ever add anything else I had no choice but to allow iTunes to reset the iPod, which means it is now EMPTY.
Then I resynced and iTunes claimed to have put everything back on the iPod, but when I try to eject the iPod-mini, iTunes hangs, and I have to "Force Quit." Meanwhile, the iPod-mini remains empty!
So now I have an empty iPod that iTunes claims has content and whenever I try to eject the iPod, iTunes crashes!
My nano seems to be syncing without any problems.

    More details:
Since trying to eject the iPod-mini from iTunes crashes iTunes, I also tried ejecting it from the desktop. When I do this NOTHING happens.
Naturally, if I just remove it. I get an error message and the iPod is still EMPTY even though iTunes claims to have just put all then content on the device!
    This does not make sense!

  • Ipod mini no longer connecting nor shows up in iTunes

My ipod mini was working fine but the past week I have been unable to get it to show up in iTunes! It is fully charged (I am able to charge via my computer) but still no go on showing up.
The "Update iPod" is greyed out and when I go to iTunes/Edit/Preferences/iPod it says that iPod is not detected. Please help!!!

Its 2:30 am but i somehow fixed it.... here's what i did:
Problem: itunes wasn't showing my ipod so basically they werent connecting
    What I did:
    First I went here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711
I followed: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall , Restore
Didn't work so I went to the link that has this article under "An 'iPod Service Error alert' or 'Please Reinstall iTunes' message appears in Windows" (link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716)
    I followed the instructions there
Didn't work so I went to the link meant for LAPTOP owners link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301343
Somewhere between the "An 'iPod Service Error alert' or 'Please Reinstall iTunes' message appears in Windows" Link and the Link for Laptops it started working!
Try it out, let me know how it goes. GOODLUCK

  • Itunes not reading ipod mini

My husbands ipod mini was syncing earlier but then he "updated" it and now itunes doesn't recgonize it, So I reset the sync history and it still didn't read it. when I plug it in on the screen of his ipod it says do not disconnect yet itunes isn't doing anything to it! I reset it and it didn't do it. It worked fine before the update. Please help...

Okay, so i was readin through other discussions and i found this tip {"try resetting the iPod while it's connected to the computer: hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo. This will often get it recognized." by Mark Jone3. it worked for me, so hopefully it will for everyone else too!

  • Ipod mini scrolls trough all the songs in the playlist!!!

My ipod mini was working fine until now. When i play one song, it plays for less then 1 second and goes to the next song in the playlist, and then it does the same for the next... so i basically only get to hear less than 1 second of every song! I've tried reseting it a few times, but that doesn't seem to do anything..... if anyone knowa what to do, please help!!! thank you, Morgan

I was thinking,my computer crashed, so i had to put the songs from my ipod mini onto my computer using the tips from the dicusion "my computer crashed!!!" so i was wondering if this would effect the odd patern of my songs.????

  • My  ipod mini has a messed up screen! help!!!!

PLESA HELP ME!!!!! my ipod mini was taken away at school and put in the office. no student had touched the ipod mini. when i got it later theat day, there's a screen that says
    remote test
    hp ok
    press remote keys
there is also a list of things below it in faded print. what are remote keys? how do i fix my ipod mini? PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!

What happens when you press anything? Nothing happens? Try to reset it, hold the menu and center buttons at the same time until you see the apple logo on your screen and then let go. You might have to try this a couple of times in order for it to work. Try to use it and see what happens. I have no idea what a remote test is but if nobody fooled around with your ipod while it was in that office then why would it say that?? Can you read what that list says, the one in faded print or it's non readable because of how faded it is??

    Never tried it.
There are other softwares that you can download that can do this also. Search the forum for something like "computer crashed" and you'll get plenty.
    I hope this helps!
