IPod mini will not go to sleep

I have been having trouble ever since I DL'ed iTunes 7.
iPod mini started by skipping, then froze. It is no longer recognized by Firewire ports, though same cable allows it to connect to USB.
I did the 5 R's and though the iPod takes a charge, plays music, etc, it is still not recognized on the FW bus (though connecting it via FW WILL charge it).
Also, cannot make it go to sleep and it just stays on until the battery is drained.
Any thoughts?

I'm having the same problem. Also, since downloading 7, my iPod mini is in disk mode and I can't force it out. What's up with this? I'll be watching for anyone with any answers. Thanks.

Refer to my earlier reply, but here is a quick fix to the corrupted filesystem, which might work
Open My Computer
Right-click your iPod -> click Properties.
Click the Tools Tab -> Error Checking ->
Check "Automatically fix file system error"
k Start.
Let the scan complete, eject your iPod and reconnect.

Was the iPod setup via iTunes on this computer?
Setup via wifi?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

IPod Mini will not come on, Help please

Yesterday I was leaving my house and I properly removed my ipod mini from my computer through Itunes. When i reached my car, i pressed the menu button and the ipod mini would not turn on. I figured i would wait. (Seeing as this has happend to me before and the ipod came on in a couple of hours) I tried to turn in on hours later that evening and the ipod would still not turn on and has continued to do that today. Please help if you have any knowledge on this matter.

It sounds like a dead battery...was it charged with you disconnected? Do you have an itrip or other device plugged into it? My itrip kills my battery even when the red light isn't on and appears to be off. Hope this helps! Good Luck

New ipod mini-will not connect to pc

Got new ipod mini today, have uploaded software & plugged it into USB-it is charging fine, but PC will not recognise it as new hardware and it is not appearing in the itunes menu thing.
We have a USB 2 card on the computer, and windows xp. The PC is about 3 yrs old. When I plug it into a USB 1 port the computer recognises it but says it needs a higher powered port-when i put it in the USB 2 ports nothing happens other than it charging itself. I have tried 3 different USB 2 ports. I have removed the software and re-installed it, checked the PC for windows updates and downloaded the updated ipod software from the apple website. When it is in the USB 1 port it shows up as hardware-but nothing when in the USB 2 port.
At the moment I am beginning to think the only solution is to chuck the ruddy thing in the bin....
Is it me, the computer or the ipod? any advice gratefully received.

Then you need to connect your iPod with your computer, and hope that it will be recongized. If you are lucky to reach this stage then you simply need to restore your iPod updater, and your iPod should be back to normal.Please note that You may need to plug and unplug few times in order to let your iPod to be recongized."

My ipod mini will not update

Please help! My computer does not recognize my ipod mini. It keeps saying the USB could go faster maybe that is it? Something is wrong and I do not know what! For a week I have tried to update, and get the latest version of Itunes, I have fully charged, then connected my ipod. Nothing I do will help! I am affraid if I do restore my ipod, I still wont be able to update my ipod and then both my music will be lost and I cannot use my ipod again! Please help!

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.

Ipod Mini will not allow me to add any songs.

Ok so i have a Ipod Mini.. It worked PERFECT until my last update. My itunes is fully updated (1.4.1). I was about to drag my new songs to my Itune Playlist, and it wouldnt let me. As soon as i would let the song drop in the play list this would come out "file:/C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/admin/Shared/T,does not seem to be a valid podcast url. Pleasecheck that you have entered the correct URL and try again." I am not sure what my podcast URL was..And i dont really know where i can view my podcast url so i can fix it ..

After you click "no" to that message, use one of the suggestions here to get the music from your iPod back to iTunes.

There's also another method I've seen posted. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer.
Once you are sure that the music is safely back in iTunes (and not before), you can click "yes" to that message, associate the iPod with your new iTunes installation and start using the iPod and iTunes as normal.

Just set up itunes on new Acer. iTunes recognizes the iPod with details such as serial number, remaining space, etc but will not sync. Is there a problem between this version of iTunes and this older model iPod?

Have you tried restoring the iPod via iTunes? This will erase all the content from the iPod and set it back to its default settings allowing you to start from scratch with it.

My iPod mini will not format

I recently moved from England to Australia. I have installed iTunes onto my partner's pc which is equipped with windows XP. Every time I try to format my iPod (I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times) there is a breakdown after 15 -20 minutes of waiting when a notice appears telling me about a communication problem between the iPod and the pc and to start the installation process again. Because I have been unable to format the iPod, the pc will not recognise the iPod when I connect it and therefore I cannot update my iTunes library. Many thanks for any help.

Ok well you cant just format your iPod by use of the windows format option. You have to use Apple software to 'Restore' your iPod. Here is the link, just install it and connect your iPod to it and then click 'Restore'.

IPOD Mini will not play songs - "shuffles" from start to finish

I don't know why this is occurring, but it shuffles from the first song to the last. It will not play anything at all. Very annoying. Any input would be appreciated as it appears as though this is a recurring problem.

Ipod Mini will not update and sync without mac freezing up

My ipod mini (4GB) cannot hold all my music so I have to single handedly sort out music i want and don't want. So, one day i decide to click 'restore' so i can just drag and drop playlists. Ever since then itunes freezes up when i plug it in and now it won't recognize it. The only way i can get itunes to respond is by unplugging my ipod mini. Then itunes is fine, like nothing happened. Also i have the most up to date itunes software. i don't know what to do.

When the iPod is connected to your computer and in iTunes go to edit-->preferences (in iTunes). Hit the iPod tab. Is it set to automatically update?

You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:

This is the message you see when you connect the iPod to a computer that it's not normally associated with. Clicking 'yes' will do exactly what it says and the songs on your iPod will be replaced with the songs in the iTunes library you are now connected to.
This is how the iPod works. Makes it that much harder to share copyrighted material.
Do you intend to use the iPod with more than one computer?

I am sorry..."TTY" in "Phone Settings" being "on" or "off" has nothing to do with this feature but the issue still remains that it only works when the phone is NOT in "sleep/lock" mode
