Ipod mini with Bose Sounddock/remote issues

Just purchased mini & sounddock, but for remote to work, software version must be 2.2 or later; my mini will only update to 1.4.1. Can this be remedied, or do I kiss the remote feature goodbye?

The latest version of iPod mini is 1.4.1, (2.2 - is related to iPod dock connector i.e. iPod 3Generation).
Please have a read the following

Your iPod mini should be able to control by using the Bose soundock's remote control as I do.

  • Trying to update my ipod software so I can use my Bose Sounddock remote

    Hi,
I have a 30 GB 5th Gen ipod that is running Version 1.2, apparently I need version 2.2 to use my Bose Sounddock remote. After searching the Apple website to find a way to download version 2.2, Apple kept bringing me back to the latest itunes 7 download which is supposed to alert you to any ipod updates. So I have downloaded itunes 7 which tells me my ipod is updated with version 1.2. How can I get 2.2 on my ipod?
I notice other people are having similar problems with no solutions, thought I would give it another try, any solutions?
    Thanks,
    Jessica

Version 2.2 of the software is designed for a different model of iPod, most likely the third generation models, and is older than your model of iPod. The current version of the iPod software for your model is version 1.21; if the remote doesn't work with this version, you probably can't use it with your iPod.
The version numbers are determined relative to the release of the original iPod for first through fourth generation full-size models, and relative to the release of the first iPod with that product name for other iPods, including the iPod photos.

  • IPod touch 4 with Bose sounddock portable

Hey buddies, my IPod touch 4 (iOS 5.1.1) isn't fit with Bose Sounddock Portable, how come? You guys have any solution? Thx

If you mean theat the 4G iPd does not full mate with the dock you have two solutions:
    - Modify the dock with knife and duct tape to make it fit.
    - Use a dock extender:

  • TS2771 itouch stopped working with Bose sounddock after software update 5.1.1

Have an iTouch that used to work well with Bose SoundDock.  Then updated iTouch software to version 5.1.1  and as usual apple ITouchOS now does not recognize the Bose SoundDock at all now.  Error message iTouch does not support this accessory.  What the heck?  How to fix?  Buying new dock is not solution. iTouch is gen 4.

You can try the standard fixes:
    Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
    - If still the problem then it appears that the iOS update broke the compatibility. That happens sometimes. In that case you have to wait for an update from either Apple or Bose.
    - Also, use the communities search box in the upper right and search for. bose. I think other users had same problem. It is hard to remember the dock manufacturer.

  • Old iPod mini with a new iMac using a different iTunes library

I just bought a new iMac (never before owned one). I have an iPod mini with a bunch of music on it that I downloaded from a library on an IBM, which I no longer have. How can I transfer all of the music that is currently on my iPod mini to the library in iTunes of my brand new iMac? I can't seem to find any options that allow me to do this. It looks like I can only erase my iPod memory and replace with the Library on my iMac, which is currently empty. Please tell me that I don't have to re-create a new libray on my iMac.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the information. I just got done with the iPod. I was able to use Senuti to dowload all of the contents of my iPod into iTunes and then update my iPod mini's software and reload all of the songs back onto the iPod. It was freakin' awesome!!
You really saved me a huge headache and a boatload of time!!
    Thanks again!!!

  • Ipod mini with OS 9

Just bought an ipod mini for my daughter's birthday thinking if I had itunes it should work in spite of not having OS X. I was wrong. I currently have OS 9.2.2. Does anyone have suggestions for a fix other than what I'm doing now, taking it to work to download from a PC (how embarassing, attaching a Mac product to a PC) or upgrading to OS X? Please help.

You can't use an iPod mini with Mac OS 9. First and second generation full-size iPods will work with Mac OS 9's iTunes, as will third generation full-size iPods which are running version 2.0x of the firmware.

  • Can I use a Ipod Mini with the Nike running chip?!

I'm looking at buying a Ipod Mini, but I was told that it might not work with the chip in my running shoes from Nike! Is there anyone who knows if this is true or not!!

Can I use a Ipod Mini with the Nike running chip?!
No. Only the iPod nanos and the second generation iPod touch are compatible with it.

  • Bose Sounddock remote doesn't work with 6th Gen 160GB iPod Classic

I have recently purchased a Bose Portable Sounddock and whilst my iPod Classic (160GB 6th Gen) will work in the docking station, the only buttons on the remote that work are the volume buttons - everything else has to be done on the device.  It does charge when in the docking station as well.  I have an iPhone 4 that works perfectly a Nano that works perfectly but the Classic won't.  I have spoken to Bose who tell me that there should be no issues with my Classic.  I have reset it to factory settings and it hasn't helped.  I have tried another Sounddock in a local shop and it has the same issues.
Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?  Any help appreciated.

Assuming that the Bose Soundock, is brand new and not refurbished or pre-owned
    My Suggestions
Check that the remote batteries are good.
Hard Reset the iPod, (press menu and select buton for about 10 secs or till the Apple logo comes ON)
Restore the iPod (this is to fix any corrupted firmware)
If the above doesn't work, bring the iPod to the Bose store and try it on their Soundock (bring your remote and test)

  • Charging with Bose SoundDock [ipod 2g]

Ok, I know it doesnt work, and I am so ****** off about it you have no idea, paid $450 for it.
Its still in warranty, if i take it back, is there any chance they will replace it with the new Bose speakers that do work?

The Bose SoundDock II is suppose to work with the 2G iphones/itouch not the original/previous SoundDock.
I recently bought, via a very recognized online auction, a new and sealed Bose SoundDock. The package seal date was 10/2007! Bose had the SoundDock listed on their website literally about 2 weeks ago then it's gone now as the company finally phased out the older model.
At least I got a deal online as the original price was $399.
    Let's see...
I bought mine with "free shipping" for $195. If I bought it at retail, it would've cost $399 + 15 sales tax in my state = $414; I saved 53%!! Woo-Hoo!
Too bad it's now "outdated" and replaced my an updated, lower cost model! AUGHH!
    Oh, well!
The SoundDock works well with my older iPods (30Gb/60Gb/80Gb) and 1G/2G/3G nanos (Yeah, yeah! I'm building an iPod farm!. I won't be buying any newer iPods soon).
    Anyway...
Despite the limitations of the SoundDock of not having an auxilliary port or limited remote functions, it works well. Music and speech sound fine and clear! The speaker is meant for the "older" iPod versions (i.e. NOT the 2G iTouch/iPhone or 4G (chromatic) nano).
Bose's newer SoundDock II is meant to be backward compatible as well as compatible with the newer iPods! At least the price for the newer version dropped from $399 of the original to $299, though it's still pricey!!

  • IPod Nano (2nd generation) not fully compatible with BOSE SoundDock

I can't get the remote control for my BOSE SoundDock to function with my newly purchased 2 GB iPod Nano (2nd generation).
The BOSE manual states that the remote control will not function properly if the iPod doesn't have the proper (or later) version of Apple software installed.
The "correct" software that BOSE identifies for the iPod mini (Nano) is version 1.2 or later.
This, however, appears only applicable to iPod 1st generation Nanos.
My brand new ipod Nano has version 1.1.2 software and iTunes has confirmed this to be the most current software for this 2nd generation unit.
Is this a common problem? It's hard to believe the BOSE unit does not cover 2nd generation iPod Nano software.
Other than the non-funtioning remote control, the BOSE unit works fine and with the BOSE-supplied black adpater for the Nano.

Actually, the BOSE SoundDock is compatible with the iPod Nano.
After troubleshooting with the BOSE staff, and some excellent customer service, the problem was narrowed down to the remote control device.
BOSE sent out a new remote control and the unit works fine with my iPod Nano.
Appreciate all who offerred assist in this matter.

  • Connection Error with iPod mini to Bose Home Theater System

When connecting my iPod mini to my Bose Home Theater system, it recognizes that iPod has been connected, but after the "Acquiring Signal" process, it gives me an "iPod connection error. Please re-insert iPod into docking station." I tried several times, but the result is the same.
My iPod mini has been updated with the latest software, and I did a system restore to return everything to factory defaults, but still no luck.
    Any suggestions.

Hi. What you need to do is Launch DVD Player. Go to Preferences. Select Disc Setup tab. In Audio Output under Audio in the second part of the menu, select Digital Out-Built-in-Output. Then click OK. See if this works, 'cause mine does.

  • IPod w/video works with Bose Sounddock

Just received my black 30GB iPod. I haven't seen it personally since I'm at work, but my husband is getting it all setup for me. He checked it in his Bose Sounddock and it works fine. So glad they left the width the same! He says the decreased thickness isn't a problem with the sounddock. I will be trying out other accessories this evening. Docks, headphones etc.

Well since ITunes uses "Quicktime" you are going to have this problem with MPEGs files that are "Muxed" or Multiplexed where the MPEG Container contains the audio and video in sepearte files. Read these:

  • IPod Touch 4G works fine with Bose SoundDock

I just want to report that I bought the Bose SoundDock portable system yesterday, and it works fine with the iPod Touch 4G. Despite what I had read on these pages and elsewhere, there is absolutely no problem docking the Touch, and the system works great. What fun to have this as a battery-powered go-anywhere system!

I used to have a problem getting both of them working but then i realized it was a problem with my iPod itself which got resolved and now they seem to work great after all!

  • 6th generation iPod with Bose Sounddock I

I just received a new Ipod (6th generation) from the replacement program and I can no longer use it with my Bose Sounddock I.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Or contact Bose and send your Sounddock to them and they will covert it for about $100.

  • My iPod Touch is not working with Bose SoundDock.  How can I fix it?

My iPod Touch is not working with Bose DoundDock Series II.  Can anyone suggest how I can get these 2 to work together?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79 Y can do the exchange at an APple store or sent it in.. They do not fix yours.
