IPod mouse control

I manage a network on which Windows and Mac computers share files and internet access (simple file sharing, one router and un-managed switches/hubs). An iPod user is using AirMouse, I believe, to maliciously take control of the mouse on other computers (both Windows and Mac). Does this program work through the network (I don't see how it could gain access any other way - surely it can't take physical control of the hardware)? How can this program be blocked? Is there a specific port on the firewall, or ....? Thank you in advance for your help.

This looks to be a step in the right direction: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1947

  • Quicktime Interactive Movie Mouse Control

I have a quicktime interactive movie saved from keynote with chapters added in.
The file pays full screen but at 800x600 screen resolution, the mouse left click button is not advancing the presentation. If I change the resolution to 1024x768 the mouse works again. What is the relationship between resolution and mouse control and how do I get it to work at 800x600?

    Tristan,
As Rick indicated in his post, the answer lies in "manually"
pausing the slides by inserting click boxes or buttons. I just
wanted to add that if you have already recorded your movies and did
not use Simulation mode, you can still easily insert a click box on
    each slide to pause them.
    1. On the first slide, insert a click box and set the options
as you desire (turning off success/failure captions for
instance...just don't uncheck the Pause movie until user clicks
option, otherwise you will change the "nature" of the object that
    Rick was referring to.)
    2. Size the click box to as small as possible and place it in
an out of the way location on the slide. (We often hide it under
another object if it does not need to be clicked such as when used
in conjunction with the auto playback controls.)
    3. Copy the click box
    4. On the filmstrip view, highlight all slides that you want
    the movie to pause
    5. Right Click on any one of the highlighted slides in the
filmstrip view and select Paste Object
This will paste a copy of your click box in the same location
on all slides with the same settings as your original.

  • Webforms10g: initialize of mouse control?

    Hello,
It happens sometimes in a multi record block that the cursor stays on the item of the current record and does
not move to another record with a mouse click.
Is there any command to initialize the mouse control?
    Maybe: synchronize?

This has been an on and off problem with every version of Jinitiator. I've seen it many times before. Just use the TAB once or twice, and it will work again.

  • No mouse control on mac mini

hi, I'm a new user to ARD 3, I have it installed on my iMac core duo and use it to control/observe 2 machines in my home, my mothers and a freinds via internet. All of the machines are running 10.4.6 with the latest clients installed and the all work fine apart from one of the macines in my own home connected via ethernet. The mac in question is a 1.25ghz G4 Mini, I have done all system updates etc.. it has latest client, it has NO third party software as I have performed a clean install, The problem manifests itself by not giving me full mouse control. I can observe fine, I can apply cutains, get reports put to sleep etc. But when I try and control the mouse, the pointer appears in the very top left corner of the screen, I can pull the point away by about 2 inches(5cm!) but it just springs back again and won't let me click on anything???? weird or what?
please shed some light on this as I think i'm going mad.
    regards steve

I don't have a solution exactly, but a clumsy workaround that helps.
I use my Powerbook to control a handful of computers for a volunteer job, but I also use it to control my two mac minis. The problem I have only happens, that I notice, on my own computers within my home network:
Occasionally, the admin screen will stop updating the client, and the easiest way to get back control is to close the window, and retake control from the main admin window. Or, sometimes the wireless will go down due to me resetting/unplugging it or the occasional fluke. Regardless, after one of these occurences, there is a 1 in 3 chance that I can't control the client's mouse anymore.
Just as described above, you can move the mouse a short distance (or really a short amount of time (~ half a second) before it snaps back to its original position. I always reasoned that the client still thought it was being controlled (i.e. I, the admin, never lost control) and so when I took control again, it thought another admin was vying for control. So either the original admin gets full control, or it can't resolve two admins controlling one client at the same time (makes sense, right?).
So, the easiest workaround it to log out of the client computer and log back in. Occasionally, this isn't enough, and I'll restart the client, which always works.
It really is interesting how Apple seems to put enough work in this to run almost perfectly for a home user to control a handful of computers, but it lacks in proper support for people who use it as it was intended, to administer a multitude of clients.

  • Mouse Control Panel Looses scroll options and multi-button options

    Hello-
I just bought the new Magic Mouse. Once it is paired with my bluetooth the mouse works fine but the Mouse control panel looses the secondary button and scroll options. Mouse will not scroll normally or momentum scrolling. As well the Bluetooth control pane does not show mouse battery level reading, and there is no Mouse name. What's happening here??

  • Possible fix to iPod voice control flakiness

If your 3GS iPod Voice Control is always matching whatever you say to the same incorrect artists or albums (probably the first few in the alphabet, and just the albums by them.) or is giving you "No Match Found" for everything, do this:
On the computer you sync your iPhone with:
    - Close iTunes
    - find the folder containing your iTunes library file.
    - Move or delete the *iTunes Library Extras* (.itdb) file, +not your actual library+
    - launch iTunes
    - go to Store -> Update Genius. (or turn Genius on if it's off.)
    - Wait until it's done (will take a while if you have a large library) and then sync your iPhone.
    - After syncing, power the phone off and on again.

Same here. Voice control works fine for requesting it to call people and dial numbers. It used to work fine for the ipod but one day just stopped. I went to my apple centre and they suggested it's a software issue (which would make sense) and to wait for the 3.1 release and hope this fixes it. If not go back in to see them. So here's hoping. Roll on September.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
volume controls issues are windows, not firefox.

  • Left mouse controls not working... very strange

I don't believe this is unique to R40 so any help would be appreciated
I have just installed new hard drive and now the left track point and ultranav left mouse does not work. If I go to
mouse>ultranav> settings> buttons> left click  and select jump to start it works until standby power off or logon screen. So
again it works until any of the above and then I need a usb mouse to re enable the left mouse control. I do not believe it is a
hardware issue as all 3 left click methods will work until standby etc. i have re-installed latest drivers and am now considering a
    reinstall of Windows XP.
    Any suggestions???
    R40 2723

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • ARD mouse controls school related

is there anyway to copy what the mouse controls of one pc are doing on all of the computers in a group eg changing power settings for all of the macs in a class. also each teacher has there own account which logs onto are network with a log on window to the windows server is there anyway of enabling the mac to auto type all the data upon logon so the teacher dosent have to do anything
    thanks
    craig

Confirmed that this bug still exists in OS X 10.9.4 and 10.9.5. It is likely that the command line version of the restart tool (which is what ARD would send) does not honour the preferences. I’ve filed a bug (18571950).

  • Capture a user's mouse control over the player

There is video streaming using RTP to the QuickTime viewer in a web page
The major issue is that the z-index of the player seems to be infinite, not allowing mouse events to be captured over the top of the player
Is there anyway to get around this? I'd like to use javascript to *capture a user's mouse control over the player if possible.*

mgulesian, you might want to query the system properties.
System.getProperty("user.name")Please note that this property is subject of security constraints (and there're good reasons for this, read the Java Tutorial, Trail: Essential Java Classes, Lesson: Accessing System Resources for details). For example, web applications running inside Tomcat are not allowed to query this property by default. Think twice before doing this, you have been warned!

  • Mouse Control

I don't own OS X Mavs yet, but can someone tell me more about the Mouse Control thing? Is this new to OS X? Does it allow one to control the keyboard/mouse using voice input?

Richard, its probably not an adjustment issue. I had the same problem with the std. wired mouse that come with the machine. The cursor would just disappear to a corner and somtimes randomly jump. I tried a WOWPAD (thin and smooth mouse pad) to no avail but you should check the surface its running on. If there are any imperfections, ridges , scratches etc. it will effect the way the mouse performs I finally replaced it with MS Wireless Optical Mouse which has been working great plus no wires. I didn't like the single button anyway.

  • Screen sharing w/o keyboard/mouse control

    Hello,
I would like to be able to share my screen without the other person having keyboard and mouse control. How do I do this? Thanks!

    Hi,
You ask them very politely not to touch anything.
There is no way to take complete control in the manner you describe.

  • Losing keyboard and mouse control

Hi I use LogMeIn rescue, on windows 8 64bit. most of the time I can connect fine to my customers systems, some work in the same office some work in different offices, some work from home. Connection is fine through the VPN and across the internet. But nearly always, about 5mins into the session I lose keyboard and mouse control. I can still view the remote desktop and can message them instructions on what to do. Sometimes mouse and keyboard come back. Anyone seen this before? We use Cisco Anyconnect as the local firewall, and AT&T VPN. CheersSi
