Ipod movies and imovie

I have made dvd's in the past (2003etc) with imovie that I would like to download on my ipod. The movies are only on dvd's so the ? beomes, How does one take take DVD's and render a form that IPOD's will accept? I have tried one suggestion of "importing" into Imovie, and went so far to try to get Itunes to do the same, but in both cases the dvd does not appear in the "import" menu. Will quicktime convert this format? Before I start spending $ on programs, has anyone ever done this?

If DanK's reply is too cryptic:

Or if you would rather pay the $$ and not have to read anything, buy DVDRemaster. It is a wonderful piece of software designed specifically for what you are asking to do.

  • IPod Movie and Firewire

Does anyone know if it is OK to use an old firewire cable to connect the new iPod Movie with a Mac? I do not have USB 2 on my machine and am not real excited about the idea of having to move over 20 Gigs of data to my new iPod through a USB 1 cable; but, I don't want to plug it into a firewire cable if it's going to fry my device.

I just ordered the new video iPod (60gb). I specifically asked the Apple sales rep who sold it to me if I could sync with firewire instead of USB, since I have the last iBook made with USB 1.1. He went and checked with his supervisor and assured me that there would no problem, new iPod will sync with firewere. So if you guys are correct that it WON'T sync with FW, I will be really dissaponted and send the thing back. How can I upgrade to a better device and be forced to accept a slower connection? Lame.
Any further confirmation on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • My iPod movies and videos are n my music folder. PLS HELP ME!!!!!!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup.

  • I've recently downloaded Wondershare software and converted many video files. I'm in the process of creating a movie and imovie keeps quitting on me. Wondering if there is a problem with Wodershare imac conpatibility?

I recently purchased Wondershare software. I've converted many video files and made a movie. imovie quitting. Wondering if there is a problem with Wondershare and imac compatibility. Any thoughts?

Not sure about the codec- Wondershare asked where I was sending to in setup and I selected imovie. It did the rest. I have been successful with editing on storyboard, but imovie (09) quits when I attempt to view project full screen, or prepare the movie for sharing. I have removed some files (to ensure headroom), and have installed most recent updates.

  • Photo To Movie and iMovie: Poor quality movies

I am using Photo To Movie, iMovie as well as Keynote.
I am finding that when I burn PTM to movie either Quicktime or iMovie the quality is very bad, in particular on slides that have colors and text on them; these are distorted, while the actual photos are grainy.
I export (Make Movie) from PTM to Quicktime - DV(NTSC), High quality, 720x480, 29.97 fps, 16 bit stereo, 48,000 hz.
All photos are high quality ranging from 2 to 4 megs.
Any idea what could be the matter?
    Thanks,

    Thanks.
Didn't think of that because I'm new at using QT in this capacity.
    It's always so simple.
    Hope that's the problem.

  • QT X can't read .mov and iMovie too

    Hi everybody,
I've got a big problem, with my video part on my MacBook, i cannot read any .mov file.
When I that I cannot, i try to uninstall QTX but it's a very bad idea.
To reinstall it, i had to use Pacifist to extract and install QT X.
But my problem is already there and further more, I cannot update it.
    Is someone have an idea?

To reinstall it, i had to use Pacifist to extract and install QT X.
If referring to patches to the dual QT X/7.6.6 framework, then you have probably corrupted your OS and would have to re-install the original version of the Snow Leopard OS and perform incremental upgrades to fix the problem. If referring to just the QT Player application, then you must be sure you are re-installing the proper version/build to match the currently installed version of the QT framework -- QT Player X v10.0 (113) and/or QT Player 7 v7.6.6 (1709). I have absolutely no idea what will happen if you extract/install the wrong player(s) here.
I've got a big problem, with my video part on my MacBook, i cannot read any .mov file.
Since both my Leopard and Snow Leopard platforms continue to operate normally following the latest QT/QT Player upgrades, I cannot confirm there is an actual "bug" in the software. Based on my own experience, my best guess is that there is either a problem in the manner in which the latest upgrade is installed or there is some application/utility in common use by many users that is in conflict with the latest upgrades. Those few who have reported recovery from specific compression format playback problems following their upgrade, indicate a component was at fault and had to be re-installed. Unfortunately, others having the same problem report that re-installing the same component had no effect. Thus, at the moment, there is too little information available to provide a general solution here.

Mine was last scanned upon arrival in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, it hasn't reached the local facility for delivery and I am beginning to worry.

  • Itunes / ipod/ movies

I just got a ipod, (yes, i updated my software 3.5 weeks ago) , so my ipod set up went ok. Then I made a photo imovie then did share to ipod , it did the compressing opened itunes, then nothing.
I after many hrs called apple , well a first for me, no luck and they didnt know why. But I decided to see if even the movie sync even works in itunes. So I broke down and bought a movie from itunes, it down loaded fine. So in my ipod i set it up to sync and add the movie, nope, I keep getting the unknown -50 error code.
Ive been a faithful apple user since1983, and Im very disappointed, the only help they gave me was to redo the update, he admitted there were a few probelms from the first update I did in july. I didnt update quicktime, because it said something about losing the pro version and possibly havig to buy quicktime .
    Can someone help me PLEASE.
This has been 24 hrs of total stress.
    Thankyou
    Pamela

Hi Marty J. I tried what you said, but all my iTunes Movies still form a longlist at the beginning of Front Row's Movie selection.
Incidentally, unless I misunderstood you, you can't "change" the "Show" box to anything. All I could do was to type "iPod Movies" into the "Show" box. Afterwards, FR shows no category called "iPod Movies" and all of my iPod movies still create a long list before I finally reach the movies of my "Movie" folder (i.e., Users>username>Movies). I want the contents of the Users>username>Movies folder to show up at the top of the list in Front Row. I don't want to have to scroll all the way thru 60+ iPod movies before I get to this folder's contents. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

  • Is there any way to NOT have iTunes/iPod movies show up under Movies in FR?

I only want the movies in my Movie folder to show up in Front Row. Right now the movies in thr Movie folder are relegated to the bottom, after a long list of the mpeg4 files that I have in iTunes. These are lower res. movies to watch on my small iPod screen, whereas the higher res movies in my Movie folder are for watching on my large monitor. Is there a way to eliminate the list of iTunes mpeg4 movies from the Front Row menus (or at least combining them into one folder)?

  • I just created a movie in iMovie 10.0.5 and shared it to iTunes but I cannot copy to my iPod touch

I just created a movie in iMovie 10.0.5 and shared it to iTunes but I cannot copy to my iPod touch.  It says the movie was not copied because it cannot be played on this iPod. My iPod was bought in 2009 and has the latest iOS 4.2.1.  I also tried sharing in all the different resolutions but none of them worked.
    What should I do?

iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
iOS: Unable to import photos to computer
You have a 2G iPod and the can play/sync only SD videos.
If necessary use a converter app to convert to compatible format. I use the free HandBrake

Help!! working on a movie on Imovie. I had to delete a music file from a clip section and now there are some clips that have no audio!!! don't know how to get the audio back to my clips!!!! Help!!!

You can use some third party software to copy the music from your old iPod back to computer first, and then import the music into iTunes and re-sync them to yournew iPod. Here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • When I have made a movie in Imovie and I want to transfer it to Theater I get the following comments: Imovie is updating your Theater, You can't add or remove movies right now. Please try again in a moment. I have reinstalled,  Imovie to no avail

when I have made a movie in Imovie and I want to transfer it to Theater I get the following comments: "Imovie is updating your Theater, You can't add or remove movies right now. Please try again in a moment". I have uninstalled and reinstalled Imovie to no avail, cleaned with "Onyx" etc.

This simply means it is set to Automatically update and you should not have to do anything with it.
When you put new music in iTunes , it will automatically go on the iPod next time you connect it.
This is the default to make it very simple and very easy to use.
If you want to do it all yourself, iTunes prefs -> iPod.
Set to Manually manage songs and playlists.
You have to drag songs to the iPod and delete them from the iPod.

  • IMovie '08 - Skipping to Parts of the Movie and Playing It

I am having trouble figuring out how to fast forward to a part, sto there and play it. I hate having to watch the movie from the beginning just to get to that one part. Please Help, please and thank you.

    how?
Create a GarageBand iPod project. Drop your completed iMovie '08 project file to the GarageBand iPod/Movie track and confirm replacement. Double-click on movie track to open the chaptering window. Add chapter markers by moving the playhead to a point you want to chapter and "insert" the marker. When done, share/export the project to/for desired purpose.

  • I just finished creating a movie in IMovie and now want to burn it to a DVD and make it loop.  Since I just purchased this IMac it no longer comes with IDVD.  My question is how to burn and loop a dvd without IDVD.  Thanks for any help.

I just finished creating a movie using IMovie and want to burn it to a DVD and loop it.  Since I just purchased this mac it looks like they no longer include IDVD.  Is there something out there to help me do this.  I am new to MAC and any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

There is free open source software called Burn that will burn DVDs. Here is a link.
If you wish to pay for software, there are many, including TOAST TITANIUM from Roxio. Apple's retail copy of iLife 11, and Apple's Compressor.
Of these, I would say that iDVD is known for being able to create very professional looking DVDs with intros, menus, lots of interesting templates.
Toast is much simpler and the menus and templates are more plain.
Compressor is a professional tool that does a lot more than make DVDs. Don't expect much in the way of menus or templates.
Burn, I have never tried, since I have iDVD and Toast for those ocasions when I need to burn a DVD. However, since it is free, I think it is worth a try.
Each software package is a little different, but in general, in iMovie, you can use the SHARE menu to SHARE/MOVIE in Large size. Save the movie to your desktop or someplace you can easily find it. Then drag it into the tool of your choice. You can alsouse SHARE/MEDIA BROWSER/LARGE if you have iDVD or Toast.
