IPod Movies

I converted about ten movies and downloaded them to my iPod, no prob. Now I want them off my iBookG4. I tried changing the update videos automatically option to not update and that took every movie off my iPod before I could even eject it. I noticed you can't change this option unless the iPod is plugged in which makes this even more confusing. I need to free up this space off iBook but I would like to keep the movies on my iPod. Any suggestions? I'm also curious if you can use an iPod to back up .txt or .html files? I need something to back up my school work and I have plenty of free space available on that. I also have iPod shuffle if that woks. Any feed back is much appreciated

You would need to Manually Manage Songs and Playlists for you to have the files on your iPod but not on your computer. See this tutorial Video http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt3.html
And as for backing up .txt or .html files you can but you would need to enable your iPod for Disk Use. To do so also see this other tutorial video http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt13.html

  • ITunes + external hard drive + iPod movies = headache. Help?

    Hey folks,
I'm in need of some assistance. In theory, this should work just fine. But iTunes and I have a history and it's not cooperating again.
    Present setup:
-Macbook (with a hard drive that is almost full)
    -Music is saved on Macbook
    -All is well
What I want the setup to be:
-Brand new WD 500 GB External hard drive
-An iTunes folder has been created on the external drive
-All my music was copied from my laptop to the external drive into the iTunes folder
-iTunes was updated with the new location
-Everything is fine UNTIL I unplug the hard drive, at that point iTunes resets itself to the Macbook folder. When I plug the external drive back in I have to reset the preferences to that location again and it updates my iTunes library - which is a pain to say the least.
It gets slightly more complicated at this point ... I'm in the midst of moving roughly 60 movies onto my iPod. I have a folder on my external drive named "iPod Movies." I was able to transfer 27 movies onto my iPod just fine last night. Now, when I transferring movies into iTunes I get this error, "Attempting to copy to the disk "My Book" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
Basically, I want my external drive to be my iTunes/iPod drive and it certainly is not working that way. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Set your folder structure on the ext HD to mimic what is on your Mac - iTunes>iTunes Music> etc - then make sure that the iTunes Library and .xml files for the library are on the ext HD. Then when opening iTunes hold down the 'Option' key and direct iTunes to the ext HD.

  • What is the file format stored in Ipod movie

what is the file format stored in Ipod movie.Want to see the MPEG4 movie in the Ipod

Your iPod should accept MPEG4 formatted videos.  If it's not, it's likely that there is no some peculiarity of the file that your iPod does not like.  Try using iTunes built in converter to convert it to a more friendly format.  To do this, highlight the video and select Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu in iTunes.
See this article for more information on syncing videos to your iPod.

  • IPhoto 6 not printing photos imported from iPod Movie

Thought I had it beat, on a 6 week tour of Europe I downloaded all my photos (2,500) from my digital camera straight onto my iPod movie. This worked beautifully. Could even preview photos on iPod. Got home, imported all photos from the iPod onto my iMac PowerPC G4 using iPhoto 6 - v6.0.6, the leftover photos on my digital camera went straight onto the iMac.
Trouble is the photos that were downloaded from the iPod will NOT print. The photos in the folder downloaded from the camera WILL print. All photos can be viewed and edited but the photos that were stored on the iPod simply will not print.
What do I need to do to get these photos to print?

Are you sure there are no updates for iPhoto 6 waiting for you to install?
Run software update and be sure.

  • Scrolling the IPod movie window

I can't see the 3rd column of my movie list when I scroll the IPod movies in ITune wondow.
Is there a way to change the view of the window?
There is no scroll bar and I have to use the cursor on my keyboard to move up and down the thumbnails.
Moving the cursor to the left will not display the 3rd column.
    Thanks

You don't say or show what you've tried, so it's difficult to
    show what
    you've done wrong.
From your description it sounds like you want to open a new
    custom
chromeless window. To do that, you need to use the Javascript
    window.open() method.
You can find thousands of examples in this forum with a
    simple search.
You can also google "window.open" and get thousands more

  • IPod Movie Converters - which one to buy?

    Hi,
I've recently been using IMtoo iPod movie converter trial version to convert videos but I want to buy the full version. I was just wondering is I should stick with IM Too or is there better software out there that I should spend my money on instead?
    Thanks!

Audigy 4 as its newer, better and more powerfull than audigy2 zs. also audigy 4 has seperate jacks for headphones line in and out. i rip vinyl to mp3, so need seperate line in/out. that is why i never bought an x-fi card, has stupid 3 way jack going on there.

  • Is there any way to NOT have iTunes/iPod movies show up under Movies in FR?

I only want the movies in my Movie folder to show up in Front Row. Right now the movies in thr Movie folder are relegated to the bottom, after a long list of the mpeg4 files that I have in iTunes. These are lower res. movies to watch on my small iPod screen, whereas the higher res movies in my Movie folder are for watching on my large monitor. Is there a way to eliminate the list of iTunes mpeg4 movies from the Front Row menus (or at least combining them into one folder)?
    G5 Quad   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi Marty J. I tried what you said, but all my iTunes Movies still form a longlist at the beginning of Front Row's Movie selection.
Incidentally, unless I misunderstood you, you can't "change" the "Show" box to anything. All I could do was to type "iPod Movies" into the "Show" box. Afterwards, FR shows no category called "iPod Movies" and all of my iPod movies still create a long list before I finally reach the movies of my "Movie" folder (i.e., Users>username>Movies). I want the contents of the Users>username>Movies folder to show up at the top of the list in Front Row. I don't want to have to scroll all the way thru 60+ iPod movies before I get to this folder's contents. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

  • IPod Movie and Firewire

Does anyone know if it is OK to use an old firewire cable to connect the new iPod Movie with a Mac? I do not have USB 2 on my machine and am not real excited about the idea of having to move over 20 Gigs of data to my new iPod through a USB 1 cable; but, I don't want to plug it into a firewire cable if it's going to fry my device.

I just ordered the new video iPod (60gb). I specifically asked the Apple sales rep who sold it to me if I could sync with firewire instead of USB, since I have the last iBook made with USB 1.1. He went and checked with his supervisor and assured me that there would no problem, new iPod will sync with firewere. So if you guys are correct that it WON'T sync with FW, I will be really dissaponted and send the thing back. How can I upgrade to a better device and be forced to accept a slower connection? Lame.
Any further confirmation on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Itunes / ipod/ movies

I just got a ipod, (yes, i updated my software 3.5 weeks ago) , so my ipod set up went ok. Then I made a photo imovie then did share to ipod , it did the compressing opened itunes, then nothing.
I after many hrs called apple , well a first for me, no luck and they didnt know why. But I decided to see if even the movie sync even works in itunes. So I broke down and bought a movie from itunes, it down loaded fine. So in my ipod i set it up to sync and add the movie, nope, I keep getting the unknown -50 error code.
Ive been a faithful apple user since1983, and Im very disappointed, the only help they gave me was to redo the update, he admitted there were a few probelms from the first update I did in july. I didnt update quicktime, because it said something about losing the pro version and possibly havig to buy quicktime .
    Can someone help me PLEASE.
This has been 24 hrs of total stress.
    Thankyou
    Pamela

  • Changing Thumbnail for iPod Movie in Quicktime

I have Quicktime Pro and I use it to export to movies to my iPhone.
I know you can create a poster frame from any frame in the movie. However, I'd like to make a poster frame that isn't included in the movie. And by that I mean, I'd like the iPod movie thumbnail to be an image not from the movie. I'd like it to be a graphic, and I don't want that graphic to appear in the movie.
Is there any clever way to go about doing this?

Use the Finder Get Info window:
Leopard creates "custom" icons for most file formats. Use it to do the work.
Create your image file (or use one already created). Open the Get Info window and in the upper left corner you'll see a small icon of your file.
Single click (to highlight) and Command-c to Copy.
Switch to your iPod file Get Info window, highlight the icon and Command-v to Paste.
The custom icon should now appear as "artwork" in apps like Front Row, iTunes and hardware devices like Apple TV and the iPods.

  • Added iPod movie to iTunes - can't find it in the library

I converted a movie for my new iPod, and it seems that the only way to add movies to the iPod is to add them to the iTunes library.
Well, I did that, and the weirdest thing happened. I could add the movie to iTunes, but I couldn't add it to the library, the "plus"-sign didn't show there, but I could add it to one of the playlists. It also got transferred to the iPod, where I can watch it.
Since this was only a short test-clip, I wanted to remove it afterwards. Oops! it was in the library, and iTunes wouldn't even find it with the search-feature. So I re-synced the iPod with iTunes, to see if it was still there....and it was, but where? It was on my iPod, but I still couldn't find it on iTunes.
A search on spotlight revealed it: in the "Recently Added" playlist, but not in the library. Why is that?
After that I tried to delete it, but I couldn't delete it from the playlist. I had to use Spotlight again, and delete it from the finder.
Has anybody an explanation for all this? For now, I'm not adding anymore movies to the iPod, scared to lose some content with this unexpected behavior.

iTunes sorts all of your content into different Libraries depending on how it has been classified, e.g. Movies you download from the iTunes Store go in the Movies Library, Music and Music Videos go in the Music Library, and TV Shows go in the TV Shows Library. In Preference under the tab General there should be some options to show or hide certain Libraries. Make sure that the Movies box is checked and it should be fine.
If that doesn't work, or if it does, please come back and let us know.

  • Itunes ipod movie sync problem

I have a bunch of videos on my ipod but just recently all the movies sort themselves in music instead of movies(on my ipod). when i sync a new movie it sorts itself under movies.
    my question is: how do i get all my movies to show up under movies.;
and yes i tried changing the media kind to movie. but that dosnt fix the problem.any help is awesome!

    Hi dg,
I had something similar happen to me, this is just a shot in the dark. I had set my iTunes to play on a remote speaker that was connected via an Airport Express. Any time a video came up, only the audio part played, because a video can only play on the local machine. I think it's the latest "remote audio" solution.
I had to tell iTunes to play from the local machine, then it was fine.

  • Classic iPod movie to my HD TV

Can I view my new "classic" iPod downloaded movies on my HD TV?

If you are only using the IPOD on a HD TV then get the component cables as these give better quality but if you want to use your IPOD on other (not HD) you will need the AV somposite cables.
Bit of a rip to be honest - and especially for £ 35.00 from Apple.
I think both cables should be supplied for this

  • Transfer iPod Movie toe Library (PC)

I am new to the iPod scene and do not know how to transfer movies from the ipod to the PC. I purchased a move from the iTune Store using my PC at work. I want to add it to the PC at home from my iPod (30GB Video). How do you syncronize the iPod to upload the movie to the PC library?

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store content from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
