Ipod multiplies my radiohead songs everytime i connect to computer

after buying radiohead's new album off their website, everytime i connect my ipod to my computer, it doubles my radiohead songs. so now my ipod looks like this:
REM
Radiohead
Radiohead
Radiohead
Radiohead
the Ramones
so basically everytime i connect, my ipod creates another radiohead slot and adds the same 50 songs to my ipod.
in my library music and in my ipod music headings, radiohead is only listed once but my ipod has them down 4 times. i have no idea how to fix this.

That's even weirder than my problem. itunes won't let me import the new ablum at all. Here's my thread: (don't know if this will work)
http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=5588774
Just search on radiohead if that doesn't work.

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!

  • IPod 4G screen is white, Won't connect to computer, wasn't restoring or in dfu. How to fix?

iPod 4G screen is white, won't connect to computer(Even though it's plugged in) no restoring was in process at the minute, and won't react to anything(Including turning on/off, no DFU, no Restoring, Home and power button aren't doing anything) How do I fix it?
Today, I was "screwing around" with an iron. When I pryed it open, (I'm guessing it must've hit my iPod 4G on the ironing board, I know, stupid decision) Next thing I knew, my iPod screen was white, or turning white, from an app I was in. I started freaking out because it wouldn't turn off or on. The sliding thing didn't even appear. I tried doing the "hold home and power button for ___ seconds" which didn't do anything, I tried plugging it into the computer, but the computer couldn't even tell it was plugged in. No restore or anything. It's currently white while I'm typing this... It's been about maybe a hour since it's been white. Any help or suggestions please? I'm not looking forward to taking it apart because recently I got the iPod fixed from when I had accidently shut it into the car door when it was in the pocket of my cardigan, which got caught in the door.
The back has a big diagnol dent across it, and I'm at a young age and not very experienced with this field, so I'm not opening anything. Again, this would reeeaaalllly help if anyone could help me with this issue! Thanks!

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • Ipod re-syncs same songs everytime

My itunes somehow got damaged and rebuild itself a few weeks ago. When it finished I had to reset some things with the way itunes displays and plays my music. Also somehow it duplicated a couple of my playlists. I deleted the duplicated playlists and reset all the diplays back. Now it works fine.
The first time I synced my 160g classic is seemed to sync fine. The second time it came up with notice that it couldn't sync to the ipod and I had to reload the software and reset the ipod. I did this and it reloaded my 16,000+ music library. (I have the latest itunes and ipod software)
Now everytime I sync the ipod it reloads the same 60 songs everytime! These songs play fine in itunes and on the ipod. Anybody have a suggestion on how to stop these songs from reloading to the ipod everytime it syncs?

Update- I found that if I go in and change something in the song info (genre) then the songs reload once and then stop the constant reloading. So I guess something about the info on these songs got wacky when my itunes library rebuild.
    Thanks

  • IPod 80 GB Classic will no longer connect to computer

All these problems started yesterday afternoon. Earlier that morning, I had synched my iPod with a few new songs without any problems. Then, I wanted to add more that night and all of a sudden, the problems began. My iPod will no longer stay connected to my computer properly. It will connect and will show up on my computer and I can access my files on it for a few seconds before I get an error message saying that the device is no longer plugged in or readable. Then, the iPod icon will disappear, iTunes won't recognize that it is plugged in, yet on my iPod screen it shows that it is connected. I tried to find help on Apple's site but none of their solutions helped and they wanted $30 to assist me, which I think is a little odd.
Is there any way to try to fix my iPod? I would like to sync new songs to it but again, with the problems it won't let me. The only other solution is to try to restore my iPod but it will erase all the songs on it and I don't have backups of them on my computer so once they are gone, they are gone. It would take a long time to get them all back and I can't use a program to rip them off my iPod because, again, it won't stay connected long enough and some of the songs I have are very rare to get ahold of.
I've gone through many steps to try to fix it. I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've gone through so many help threads on the support section of the the Apple page and nothing helped. I haven't tried a restore yet because I don't want to lose all my songs. Any ideas as to what is happening? I can't have a warranty repair because I got it as a gift over two years ago.

Read this Apple Support Article on Restoring iPod.
    It is on step 6.
Restore would reformat your iPod Hardisk, if it is still in good condition, but some iPod Hardisk may be damage, due to abuse and misuse, so the Restore would fail.
For a successful Restore, I would also suggest that
    Disconnect all other USB devices
    Use the USB2.0 port
Do not use any USB Hub.

  • ITunes messed up my songs everytime i connect my iPhone

    Hi,
I am using a Windows 8 laptop and I have iTunes 11.0 Installed, i use this laptop to sync with my iPhone 5 (running iOS 6.0.2) which i don't really do alot. But when i'm just connecting the iPhone to the laptop just to charge the battery, iTunes always opens up but nothing there's no syncing progress or anything on the status bar of iTunes. There's this Purchased playlist on iPhone right, and the songs i purchased from iTunes are sorted by dates of purchase, but when i EVERYTIME disconnect the iPhone from my laptop. In that playlist, there are like duplicates of old songs, some of my new songs are missing, some even deleted and the album artwork of some songs are gone. It's everytime i try to charge my phone this happens. Why does this happen? and how can i stop it?
    Thanks

    Hi Jb4cy90,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Try letting the battery drain completely and then recharging it to 100%/full. This may take a day or so for each (1 day to drain and 1 to recharge). During this process don't use your iPod; just unplug it from the charger, turn it on and then let it sit. When it is completely drained, just plug it in. You may want to bring it to your local Apple Store/Reseller or check out iPod - Service FAQ.

  • Multiple copies of songs after transfer to new computer

    This is really annoying me.
I bought a new laptop and I want to transfer all my music from the old to the new. The new laptop has beatsmusic on it (factory installed).
So first I downloaded iTunes.  Immediately after loading ITunes I had access to all my music I purchases through the iTunes store.  So far so good.
BUT, 95% of my music is CDs that I burned one at a time into my iTunes library.  So that transfer is critical.   I have an external hard-drive I use to backup all my music.  So I transferred the entire library to my new laptop from the external hard drive.
All the music transferred - but not as iTunes MP4 files.  Nope - they all became beatsmusic files.  I don't want that.  Frustrating that computers have to force people to have what they don't want.
I am also dealing with windows 8 - so accessing music library is no longer easy like it used to be.
Anyway - I tried converting all the beats files back to iTunes music files (like they were originally!)  Now I have 2 and 3 copies of every song in my library.
The whole thing really irritates me.
Why can't consumers have what they want?  Do I start over now?  Delete the entire library off the new computer?
I am not going to delete 20,000 songs manually one at a time so forget that suggestion.  And the darned beats music is still the default music player.
Considering throwing away all computers and becoming a survivalist in the woods.

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
Alternativey see this migrate iTunes library post, you may want to revisit the transfer method. If you get it right you don't import anything or create duplicates in the process.

  • Songs disappear without connecting to computer

Help...I was using my IPS today and paused the playback when I got up from my desk for a meeting. I came back 30 minutes later and all my songs are gone. Battery is charged (green). IPS was not connected to laptop, so this doesn't appear to be an iTunes import/export issue...I don't think...but I have to go and add everything back again. If I have to re-import all my songs every month, what's the use?
Please help, this is the second time this has happened. The first time all but 15 songs disappeared. This time they're all gone.
    Thanks.

*what I meant to say was I want to reset to factory settings using charger.*
What you mean is that you want to "Restore" it. You can't restore the iPod without first connecting the iPod to your computer and iTunes: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • IPod got erased, and now won't connect to computer

I've had my Third Generation iPod for well over a year, and it's been fine up until this past month. It's been doing odd things, like freezing up and randomnly muting songs all month. When this has happened, I've just reset it, and it's gone back to normal. This morning, I started to play one of my playlists, and the iPod just flipped through the titles of each song, and then closed as if the playlist had finished. I tried resetting it, and all of my files got erased. When I tried to hook it up to my computer, the computer froze. The iPod still turns on, and seems to be working, but there are no files. iTunes and my computer won't recognise it, so what should I do? I've tried switching USB ports and restarted the iPod several times, even in disk mode. Nothing works. Out of curiosity, I went to the About menu on the iPod, and it says I only have 6 out of 20GB left. This was the amount that I had left when there were songs on it, but now there aren't. How can this be?
      Windows XP

no my ipod's not recognised by my computer or any other program on my computer. so the only thing i have'nt tried is restore-in my ipod as it doesnt appear in itunes at all and i dont no how else i could do it. i have tried to make it work on both my old computer and my brand new so therefore its not a disk drive problem and i cant fix that even if it was because it doesnt appear in the disk managment section either..
_when i run a diagnostic this is what comes up._
    ** iPod Connectivity Tests **
    iPodService 7.5.0.20 is currently running.
    iTunesHelper 7.5.0.20 is currently running.
Apple Mobile Device 1.14.0.0 is currently running.
    Universal Serial Bus Controllers:
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller. Device is working properly.
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller. Device is working properly.
No FireWire (IEEE 1394) Host Controller found.
    every other test works fine.
Is my 5th generation ipod combatable with itunes 7?
if its not how do i install an earlier itunes beacuse when i do it comes up with unable to because an later version has been install and what not.... arghh

  • IPod screen goes black & heats up when connecting to computer - pls help!!

I posted this same question on somebody else's post but thought id post it under a different subject so someone may be able to help.
Im having a problem with my 30GB ipod in that it works fine when just listening with head phones, on my docking station or via my car stereo yet not on computer. When i connect ipod to any computer the ipod screen fades out, goes black & then the ipod becomes quite hot (more near the left hand side of control wheel) and both computer & i-tunes does not recognise it?? Does anybody have any ideas or have had the same problem and fixed it? I pod is nearly 2.5yrs old. thanks

Have you tried a different USB port or a different USB docking cable? It is also possible that the part of the iPod that charges the battery is faulty, or perhaps the battery itself. If it's a 4th gen iPod, the battery is located under the click wheel, more to the left side than to the right. I don't have a 5th gen "video" iPod, but based on the guide here
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-5th-Generation-Video/95
the battery appears to be toward the top of the iPod.
FYI - Here's the guide for the 4th gen iPod.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-4th-Generation/93
Whatever the problem, it appears to be related to charging the battery.

  • I reset my iPod completely, and now it won't connect to computer. What happened?

Just what the title states. My iPod was messing up so I reset it, and now it will not connect to a computer. I have tried other iPods on my computer and they all connect fine. Why is my iPod the only one doing this?
Oh and by the way, the only screen that comes up is the "Connect to iTunes Screen" meaning I cannot get on it at all.

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode to see if iTunes will see the iPod.   For recovery mode see:

  • IPod Mini:  Won't respond, Won't Connect to Computer...Help please?

I have iPod Mini, a little over a year. Model A1051.
It will not turn on, or restart.
When connected to the USB 2.0, the computer does not recognize that it is connected.
I've downloaded the iPod updater, but since the computer does not recognize it, nothing happens.
I know there is nothing wrong with my computer or USB 2.0 ports because I also have an iPod Video, Model A1136.
This iPod Video works fine, and connects correctly to the computer and iTunes.
Two days ago, my iPod Mini would not turn on, but when I hooked it up to my computer, through the USB 2.0, the "battery charging" icon came up and I let it charge overnight. The next day, the "restart" (apple) icon was flashing on and off every other second, and that's when I realized it was not registering in iTunes. Eventually, the flashing icon stopped, and at that point, the computer would not respond to toggling the hold switch and holding the center and on/off buttons.
Is the battery dead for good?
Is there some kind of warranty that covers this type of problem because it is a first generation iPod Mini (I heard that the first generation iPod Minis all had faulty batteries)?
If there is no warranty or coverage, is this fixable? How much would it cost?
Please comment if you have any suggestions...or the cure.

First, have you tried resetting it by holding the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo while it's connected?
Your iPod came with a one-year warranty. Since your iPod is over a year old, unless you purchased an extended warranty, this will not be covered. Don't give up hope though... we'll likely be able to get it sorted.
As for the first generation battery rumor you heard - I have a two year old first generation mini that's still working perfectly.
