IPod (music) app on the iPad is terrible, or am I missing something?

I think the iPod app on the iPhone is pretty great, but the iPod app on the iPad 2 is really, really awful. Am I missing something? My main issue with it is that you can't browse by genre. There is a Genre tab at the bottom, but when I tap then and then tap a genre, instead of getting a list of artists in that genre, what I get is a little popup window that lists every song by every artist from every albums within that genre. It's completely worthless. On the iPhone I can tap a genre and then see the artists in that genre. Tap an artist and I see the albums by that artists, then I can tap on a specific album and then play it. That's what I want to do. Is there some way to do this with the iPad version that I'm missing?
Even the Artists tap is far from ideal. If you tap that you do see all of the albums by that artist, but they are all listed in one popup window and you can't tap an album and just see the tracks on that album and just play that album. You can start playing on a certain album, but when that's done it will go onto the next album in the list, and that's not what I want.
Is there any way to get the iPhone's iPod app behavior that I like?

I agree. It is certainly one area that can be significantly improved on the iPad.

  • Music app in the iPad & iphone (iOS 6)

i'm just wondering why, when i use the music app in the iPad (iOS 6) i can't see the lyrics, while in the iphone (iOS 6 too) i can see them????

Lyrics aren't supported in the Music app on the iPad in iOS 5 or 6, as to why not I don't know - if it's something that you want then you can try leaving feedback via this page : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Can you tell me what is the music app in the iPad TV advert love?

    hi,
there is a music app in the TV advert love in the scene where there are musicians and an electric guitar connected to the iPad.
the app seems to have something like a rack of music equipment in different colours. i am uncertain as to the name of the app.
    thank you

i think i found the programme. it is "Stomp Box" by Limelight Software and currently featured in Band in your Hand
in the iTunes App Store under "Guitar & Bass"
thanks for those who tried to find the answer for me. i chanced on the app whilst searching iTunes for music apps.

  • Video playlists in the new music app on the iPad 2 are empty

Video playlists in the new music app are empty, they use to play on the iPod app before the os5 upgrade.  The videos playlistists show up in iTunes under the iPad app when connected to my pc, but not when disconnected. Is there a way to fix this? Very frustrating.

You'll probably find your Video Podcast in the Videos App.

  • Can I use iPod Touch apps on the iPad Mini?

I have purchased iPod touch apps and movies for my iPod and now would like an iPad Mini. Can I use all of my old apps to transfer them to my iPad Mini?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
iPad apps are supported on the iPad mini, so some applications will work on the iPad mini and other not, and you'll have to purchase the iPad version of other programs

  • Is it possible to play music videos on the Music App of my iPad 2? or it's only possible in the Video App?

Is it possible to play music videos on the Music App of the iPad 2? Or create a playlist for the Video App? or sort the music videos by artist, genre, album, etc.?

I have two music videos on my iPad and they don't even show up in the Music App - only in the Videos App so I have to conclude that you can only play them in the Videos App.
I could be wrong - heaven knows it won't be the first time - but I see no way to play it in the Music App.

  • How do you restore the music app on my ipad?

I accedintly deleted the shortcut to "music",  and I have no idea how to get it back. I know it's still there, for I can search for it. I just would like it back on my main page.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home screen layout. That will return the app icon to your home screen but will also return the home screen layout to the way it looked "out of the box".
Or swipe from screen to screen and look for it on another screen.
You can also restrict content in the music app on the iPad in restrictions, but I don't think that removes the icon from the screen, so I don't think that's a solution.

  • I sold my ipod (which has always been backed up to Itunes/computer)and am waiting for my new ipad.  Do I have to manually download all my apps on the ipad, or will itunes sync my old ipod apps/music to the ipad?

I sold my ipod (which has always been backed up to itunes/computer) and am waiting for a new Ipad.
Do I have to manually download all my apps on the ipad, or will itunes allow me to sync my old ipod apps and music to the ipad?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can sync your music and apps from iTunes. However since you are moving from an iPod to an iPad, many of the apps will have iPad versions which you will need to redownload.

  • How do I sync my iPad with my iTunes without it trying to put my iPod apps on the iPad?  I don't want to make separate accounts because then the apps that I want on both would have to be paid for twice.

No, they won't. Just create a second profile in iTunes for the iPad. You can then select only what you want synced to it completely separate from your iPod.
Create a multiple user iTunes music library

  • After upgrading to IOS 7.0.2 I can't see the radio button in the music app on my iPad

The radio button does not show anymore in my music app on my iPad after I upgraded to IOS 7.0.2 - it did show briefly the first time I started the app after upgrading but immediately disappeared and is now gone for good. Don't have the issue with my iPhone at all. There it still shows - I tried to restore my iPad and again, opening the music app I was able to see the radio button for 5 seconds and than it disappeared. Any suggestion ?

Following ultimately helped me : Make sure that you are logged in at the App Store App or iTunes App with your apple ID and password with a US account. Turn your iPad off and on and than you should see the Radio button again. It won't work if you are logged on with a foreign account. If you are not logged in at all, it worked, too.

  • I have created another iTunes library (so I have 1 for an ipod touch and 1 for an iPad), but the apps from the iPad appear in both libraries. How can I stop this so teh 2 libraries are completely separate please?

I have created another iTunes library (so I have 1 for an ipod touch and a separate 1 for an iPad), but the apps from the iPad appear in both libraries. How can I stop this so the 2 libraries are completely separate? Thanks

You don't need two separate libraries to manage two devices.
I suspect the reason that the apps are appearing in both libraries is that you have enabled automatic downloads in iTunes and automatic syncing of apps so that all your purchases end up in both libraries, defeating your original aim.
Why not use a single library and make playlists for the media content you want on each device? Disable Settings > Store > Automatic Downloads > Apps on each device, then connect each device in turn and turn off Automatically Sync Apps on the Apps page.
You can now manage your devices independently, while only having to manage the content of one iTunes library, instead of two.

  • I want to purchase music. There are upload options. Which option will go into the music app on my iPad mini 2?

I Want to purchase music and put it on my iPad 2. the store gives you options to upload. Which upload option will go to my music app on ipad2?

IF you purchase music in the iTunes Store app on the iPad, it will download directly into the Music App. Is that what you are asking? The phrase about the store giving options has me a little confused. What options are you presented with?

  • How can I view music video on my Music app on my iPad? I can view on my iPhone!! It does not show video just plays the song,
