IPod music deleted?! (Over 50 songs gone)

Hey, all. Since scouring the forums has led to no progress, I've decided to start a new topic.
Just yesterday, I was going for a drive, and started listening to my iPod. Only, I noticed that many of my songs were gone.
I had 118 songs on my iPod, all legitmatly purchased from the iTunes store. I now only hav 52 songs.
No, I am not out of Disk Space on my iPod. I still have 3GBs left. Strange enough, when go to iTunes on my computer, it's as if I never had the songs. They were erased from my iPod as well as my purchase history. I don't know what to do. Anyone have an idea.

If they were erased for your purchase history and the device was signed into the account that purchased them, then contact iTunes.

For the disapearing from the iPod problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Help!! I was trying to delete an album from iTunes and I accidentally deleted over 300 songs, idk what the **** I did

I thought I was ust deleting one album from iTunes but I must have accidently hit the shift button or something becasue it deleted over 300 songs and now I can't get them out of the trash and back into iTunes, any suggestions? Be warned I am "technoligically ********!"

Are the songs still found in the finder -> Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Media -> Music?
If so, you might be able to import them again from there, else you can try to move the songs from your trash to an other folder.

  • My iPod touch had over 200 songs on it.

My iPod touch had over 200 songs on it, but when I went to sync it with my Mac, it only synced 33 of my songs! How do I get my music back on my iPod?

Do the non-syncing songs play in iTunes on the computer?
If they were purchased from iTunes do y have any Restrictions set that would prevent syncing those songs? Settings>General>Restrictions
Is there anything different about the syncing and non-syncing songs like detailed format or where they came from?

  • My ipod ramdomly deleted all my songs

I plugged in my ipod mini and went to the music store to get a new song. I found the song I wanted, Bought it, and tried to update the song onto my ipod. When the computer said it was ok to disconnect the ipod because it had finished updating my ipod, I did and I went to the main menu(on the ipod mini) went to the song lists that are supposed to have all my songs on them in alphabetical order and it was completely blank. I had updated my iTunes account to the latest virsion just before this happened. PLEASE HELP! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!

well i just changed my computer to a windows 8 computer and i tried to sync my music. so when i synced the music all my music deleted. i really need help on how to get my music back.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Also, iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
As you found out, if yo sync automatically to a new computer/iTunes library your iPod gets erased and the media in the new iTunes library get synced to the iPod

  • IPod mini reset itself, all songs gone

Help! I turned on my mini last night to find the language screen asking what language I wanted...then I found that all my songs and playlists were gone. I'm away from my home computer all summer so is there any way I can get those songs back? I miss them already!

Laura, I wish I had an answer, but I'm posting hoping that someone else will answer too. I encountered the same problem last night. I turned on my mimi last night at the gym and all the songs, playlists, everything, were GONE! I tried to copy the playlist to my mini when I got home, and the Powerbook and iTunes recognized the iPod, and let me copy the playlist over, and I could see the playlist in iTunes through the computer but when I ejected the mini from the computer, nothing was on the mini. I'm at a loss.

  • IPod name ghosted in list; songs gone; can I retrieve from Purchased list?

After I updated my 2GB nano's iTunes software (and wiped everything out) I figured it would be a piece of cake to restore the songs. WRONG!
Not only is my iPod's name ghosted in the folder list but when I try to import or export songs from my hard drive file I receive a "nothing to xxport" message. The ONLY place I can see my songs is in the Purchased area of the Music Store.
    Resetting the iPod didn't help.
Is there any way I can "reinstall" my purchased songs? Or at least get the nano to "see" my iPod's name in the folder list again?
    Many thanks.

It is probably not wise to leave your e-mail and phone number on a public forum.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    You purchase one download only.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • My ipod keeps skipping over the songs

i tried to plug my ipod into a different computer and so i did then it got all messed up i cant listen to my music they skip songs the new ones i buy dont skip its just the old ones i put from my cds skip and some that i bought from the itunes store i dont want to resore it beacuase ive spent about 150 ta 200 dollars on songs and videos but how can i get this to stop or if i send it to apple how long will it take for me to get it back

"i dont want to resore it beacuase ive spent about 150 ta 200 dollars on songs and videos"
And you don't have a back up of these items?
If not, you're in a spot of trouble here because either way (a restore or a return to Apple) will result in all the files on the iPod being erased.

  • Brand new IPOD 30GB reboot over one song!?

Just got a brand new IPOD 30GB I grabbed an album on my itune library copied it in the IPOD so far so good...played the first track the ipod "slide" on the screen the track with the album cover but before it fully done DARK for a few sec then a white apple logo...reboot back to menu.
This Apple lossless file that creates problem is paying fine in itune from the library and from the ipod...does anyone had a problem like this?
P.S I tried to restore the ipod same problem with the same file

To all posters here with the issue. Please check the iPod and report back if any of you have version 1.2 of the iPod firmware. If so, turn OFF the equalizer on the iPod and then try playing those tracks again and see if it still reboots.

  • My ipod had over 8000 songs an now it's empty. my itune still has all my songs .Help.

My Ipod classic had over 8000 song an now it's empty .My itunes still has all my songs.Help

    Hi Tom35hoboken,
So it sounds like your iPod had music on it that is now gone, and you want to put the music back on from your computer, is that correct? Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
To put your music back on the iPod you will need to sync it again with iTunes on your computer. The manual explains how to do this -
    manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1195/en_US/iPod_classic_160GB_User_Guide. pdf
In particular see page 19 - Syncing music automatically and page 23 -Managing iPod classic manually.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ipod mini skips over downloaded itunes songs only

after downloading songs from itunes, the ipod mini skips over the songs after playing them 3 or 4 times

Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes and iPod Updater, and do a restore with the Updater and resync the songs via iTunes.
Generally skipping purchased songs are related to out of date software and updating and restoring or reputting them back on seems to help.
