Ipod music file transfer

I have an iMac in the states that's in storage with my entire music library & I used it to load up my ipod before leaving. Now I'm stationed overseas and recently purchased a Powerbook G4. I know there's safeguarding to prevent cross computer ipod sharing. But is there any way to bypass this with Apple directly by proving dual ownership of the computers & any way to prove the music files currently on my ipod came from one of the Macs I own? Or am I stuck hoping this ipod behaves for the next few years?

  • Ipod music, etc transfer back to computer itunes

Old laptop and all back-up lost. Have only ipod. Would like to put all music and other from ipod on to new computer. Can it be done without any loss of data? What is the easy way? Help much appriciated.
    Thanks!

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • My computer not recognizing Ipod music file

My computer crashed and I got another one. Now I want to copy the music from ipod to my computer so when I sync my ipod to the new computer it erases all items on ipod. When I hook up ipod on computer I go into my computer file, click on the F drive and there is no music file in there but when ipod is playing I have 1700 songs. I don't want to lose all this music as that's exactly what will happen if I sync to itunes on new computer. Also if I hook up my husbands ipod and go through same procedure his music shows up in the F drive.

    Hello mshell1271,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Your iPod's Music is located with the iPod_Control folder that is hidden by default. So the first thing you'll need to do is enable hidden files and folders on your PC. Here are instructions on how to do this.

  • Music files transfer

How can I transfer my music files from my computer to an external drive to save space and keep the iTunes running, I use a Dell PC with Windos 7

With iTunes closed move the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> to the root of the chosen drive, e.g. as X:\iTunes where X: is the drive letter. Press and hold down shift as you start iTunes, keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library, click Choose and open the library file at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
I'd also recommend you get another drive and backup the library to it at the earliest opportunity.

  • IPod music files

I recently changed primary computers. How do I get all of iPod mini files in to the iTunes libary on my new computer? It will not allow me to drag and drop.

You need to download an application (I'm assuming for XP) such as PodPlus from www.ipodsoft.com . Unfortunately this costs $15, but you might be able to find something cheaper.
This application lets you take your music off your iPod and put it onto any computer. Obviously, Apple don't like this as it could lead to piracy.
Once you have all your music, you can organise and add to iTunes again.
    Good luck

  • Ipod touch file transfer

Since I can't do bluetooth file transfer from my  iPod Touch I want to try another method.  I know I can use Safari to ftp to my Mac Mini server so is there any way to traverse the IOS file system so I can "put" my photos to my server?

You can use icloud to sync pics taken with the ipod to the computer, or you can import tham as you would from any digital camera using the cable.

  • Windows to Ibook - My IPOD music files

I recently purchased an iBook and would like to move all of my old Itunes music files that i have backed up from my Dell Desktop machine (Windows XP based) onto an external hard drive and install and set them up in I tunes on my new iBook. Can this be done, and if so how?

I would do it just like you have planned, transfer them from the firewire drive to the ibook, and when you open iTunes for the first time it will ask you if you want iTunes to find all your music. Or just select import from iTunes and choose the folder you created on the FW drive.

  • HT4527 Th the music file transfer so slow

How can this be done faster?

Get a faster network (not Internet) connection.
    Get faster computers.
Transfering files via the network has nothing to do with iTunes.  The speed of the network, amount of memory on the computer, and the speed of the processor dictate the speed at which files transfer.

  • IPod music files/videos

I was having problems uploading mp3 songs to my iPod. I have been able to transfer songs directly from a folder to my iPod up until about 1 week ago. Apparently songs must now be in the iTunes Library to be transferred to the iPod and must be in like an AAC format. This is apparently also the same with .mp4 format videos.
1 un-resolved issue, my iPod doesn't remember that I want it organized by song Name, not Artist. Any settings that anyone could suggest to fix this?
    Just some useful information.
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Wow, Apple charged me $450 to repair my iBook suposedly covered by a warranty, a defect is not abuse

ive tried selecting all and dragin to the ipod icon but it jus crashes my computer.
are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Can The iPod music files by imported back to iTunes To replace missing music files?

My iTunes library is missing many of the files that I have saved. Is there a way to import the files from my iPod back into iTunes to replace the missing original files?

Use the backup of the computer to put the files back.
If no backup exists, the content was purchased iTunes, and you are in the US, they can be redownloaded from the iTunes store.
    Downloading past purchases from iTunes.

  • 32GB Issue Xperia Z Music File transfer

I have just bought the above Xperia and sourced a separate 32GB SD card. I formatted the card through my PC, then transferred about 20GB of tunes onto it as MP3 files. The phone only shows 427 songs....
Lost as to where the rest are and the length of time it has taken to transfer. Disappointing to say the least! Anyone any ideas how to solve the "visibility issue" When I put the card back to the PC it shows all the files. The guy in the vodafone shop told me this evening that it is likely that the phone will need time to absorb the new files like an Iphone...not having owned an Iphone, I assume he is talking keek!

The likely answer is that some of the files are in an incompatible format such as wma; are you able to confirm that for us?

  • How can i transfer my music files from iPad 2 to MacBook Pro?

    hello,
I got my mp3 files from PC and transfer to iPad 2. it works good.
And I want to transfer this mp3 files from iPad to MacBook Pro.
I don't know how to do it and it seems like I should 'buy some tranfer program from other website'.
Should it word that way? or iTunes program can't deal this issue?
I have changed some music file information (such as Album, Artist, etc) of mp3 files in iPad from iTune in MacBook. Of course, the iPad was connected to the MacBook. However after I disconnected the iPad from the Mac, those changes were not shown in the iPad (edited album name, artist name...). When I connect the iPad to the Mac again, I can see the changes in iTune in the Mac.
    Another issue.
Does Anybody know how to set calendar from Japanese calendar to Gregorian calendar in iPad 2? When I setup the iPad first time, I might choose wrong calendar but I can't change/see the calendar option from iPad settings...
I have been used PC for 20 years but to transfer myself to Apple, it's not easy....
Issue 1 - music file transfer from iPad 2 to MacBook Pro
Issue 2 - music file info udate in iPad 2 through MacBook and it doen's implied after disconnected.
Issue 3 - Change calendar from Japanese to Gregorian in iPad 2
    Please advise,
    Have a great day!!
    Brandon

A free app that can deal with music files is Songbird.
There are two paid apps that can transfer just about any type of file; TouchCopy and PhoneView
