  • Corrupted Music storage

My iPod Touch 5th gen (64GB) is about 2 years old now and I'm having problems with music storage. I think its probably due to the usual wear and tear, but anyways, my issue is that when I try to adds songs onto my iPod to my existing songs on it (Like I have 4700 songs onto it and I'm adding an additional 12 tracks), the existing songs disappear on my iPod and it shows up as Others in the storage on iTunes. I've ran diagnostics and factory reset my device on several occasions and the problems constantly reappears. What else can I do?
Thanks in advance for reading my post.
Also, when I go to Manage Storage in the settings, none of the missing storage for my songs shows up.

    - Try another cable.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Try another USB port

  • Increasing Music Storage Setting?

Hi, I've had my nano for about 6 months or so... it's a 1gb one. I was wondering if you can increase the settings of the music storage settings since you can only utilize 217Mb... 892.5Mb free space. I would like to use the free space with songs/mp3s but it is reserved for videos/photos/etc...???
    Any suggestions?

You are aware that an iPod (in fact any hard drive) does not have the full amount of storage space available?
As a rough guide it's about 7% less.
The OS accounts for a few mbs of storage space.
It's the way that storage space is calculated by manufacturers, and the way that computers read it differently.
Read this. Although it refers to hard drives (and the nano has flash memory), the calculations are the same, and that accounts for the so called "missing space".

  • What is "Other" in iPod Touch Storage?

What is the "Other" in iPod Touch Storage on my ipod touch 5th genereation? I have over 2GB of Other and I have 32GB. Is it IOS 7?

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Normall "other" is less than 1 1/2 GB
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Unable to put ipod music onto itunes help

    hi
i lost all my computers memory along with iTunes. ive still got my music on my iPod but cannot transfer to iTunes plz help as i don't want to lose my music
thanks for your help any welcome

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • HT1335 ipod music to a new computer

i have an ipod nano and i want to transfer the music to my new laptop, how do i do this without erasing all the songs, the computer i used to use was a mac, and my laptop uses windows

To use it with Windows, the iPod's storage will need to be reformatted (to a Windows format), so it will be erased. Although a Mac can read the Windows format, a Windows PC cannot read the Mac format (without extra-cost third-party software).  So, Windows cannot access the data currently on the iPod, using iTunes or any other application.
Do you have access to that previous Mac?  If you do, you should transfer the song files directy between that Mac and your Windows laptop.  You can use an external drive that is formatted using "FAT," which is accessible from both Windows and Mac.

  • Computer Crashed, Can I transfer my iPod music to the new iTunes?

My computer suddenly crashed before I could back up my iTunes library. Can I transfer my iPod music to the iTunes on my new computer?

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it: Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Edit>Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box.
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.
