What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the Nano to sit and charge for at least 30 minutes, try resetting it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. You'll want to make sure the Hold Switch is not in the On position as well.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont turn off

my ipod shuffle wont turn off! it is 2nd gen i think it is silver with clip on on the back. when i pause it it will pause but when i turn switch to off green light still flashing and will still play if press play button any ideas? or do i buy another one . it is about 9 months old.

thanks for your reply. in the end i took it to an apple service centre and coz it only 8months old got it replaced for free in two days, seeing as im in darwin i was quite impressed!!. i agree it is made cheap but i use it for the gym and no other portable music player is equipped with the clip on the back which is the most simple design feature and no-one is catching on. have seen the new one , which looks brilliant, if my replacement craps itself after its 1 year warranty then i will just get the new one. thanks again for the reply.

  • IPod Nano 7th gen wont turn on after a restore

I tried holding down the top and middle buttons and it wont work, this is a replacement one for an iPod Nano 7th gen with corrupted software, could it be the same problem?
During the restore it says it's restored and not to disconnect my iPod but then can't seem to find it so it repeats the restore again and again
Starting to get really annoyed with it now

  • Ipod touch 1st gen wont turn on passed apple logo

Ok so i have an ipod touch 1st generation that wont turn on passed the apple logo screen. Like a week ago it shut down cuz it ran outta battery cuz i didnt notice my charger wasnt plugged into the wall properly. So i plugged it in and had to spend like 10 minutes readjusting the extension cord its plugged into. Since then it charges just fine, but wont turn on passed the apple screen. Ive tried letting it charge till its full but it just stays on the apple screen till it dies again. Ive tried leaving it completely off for a few days but that did nothing. I keep seeing that people recommend i plug it into the computer and reset it, but that risks loosing all my data on it. I have over 5000 pictures (It has 16GB) on this thing that i use for references to almost all my work i do, All my notes and backup contact info and certain apps that track important things i never write down. I just cant risk loosing this data. This ipod has never been successful in making a backup in passed attempts. So im not sure what to do. So i guess my question is, Is there anything else i can do or anything im missing that would fix this?
PS, buying a new one or taking it in is not an option, i got this one as a birthday gift like 5 years ago, i could never actually afford to buy a new one. Also i have no idea what iOS its using, as far as i can remember i haven't updated or changed it since i got it, i know its before iOS 3. cuz i cant download any apps passed that.

Try the following. However, it is likely the iPod will be erased:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod nano 4th gen wont turn on ! help me !

okay i got this ipod nano off one of my friends. I plugged it into my own computer and the apple logo came onto the screen, then after a few seconds the main menu screen came on, but while doing this i accidently knocked the cord connecting my ipod to the computer, then my ipods screen went black and said "please eject before disonnecting " but as it slightly came out it was "disconnected" so i tried putting it back it but the ipod wouldnt turn on, only a blank black screen. I have tried all the steps from apple but none of them are working, please tell me whats wrong with the ipod and how i can fix it !!! i really need this ipod !!

  • Ipod Nano 4th Gen wont turn on.

My Ipod Nano 4th Generation will not turn on. I plug it into my computer and get nothing, i tried resetting it and that did nothing. I then plugged it back into my computer and i got an error message on Itunes saying that my Ipod was corrupt. I know can not get Itunes to recognize my Ipod, even for a 'corrupt' message. I have had my Ipod for over a year now and wondered if anyone els had had this problem and even better knew a way of fixing it. I cant afford a new Ipod and need one for work. If anyone could help me i would be very grateful. Thanks.

I have the same problem. I've had mine since Christmas and when I went to listen to it today the screen just shut down and it's unresponsive to anything. Even being plugged in to my computer. The only thing it does it make a clicking sound when I take it off hold.
I've also done the Five R's and none of them worked.

  • IPod Nano 1st Gen Wont Charge With USB Cable

I just purchased a brand new 4 gb white 1st gen iPod nano. From the moment I took it out of the packaging and tried to charge it with the provided USB cable I noticed it was not working. No response at all, nothing was getting into the iPod. I tried multiple USB cables with equal luck.
I have a Dension I.C.E Link Plus in my car, I figured I'd try it, sure enough the iPod Nano began charging and booted up. I finished charging it to a full charge in my car.
After a few days of use, I went to charge my iPod via USB cable and when I plug it in, it connects to the computer I can transfer songs perfectly but it constantly states that the iPod is "charged" displaying the plug battery icon not the flashing thunder bolt. So I figured it was charged, when I unplugged it from the USB cable the battery meter was clearly not charged.
So, I assumed it was my computer USB ports being messed up so I purchased a A/C Wall Charger Adapter. Once again it would only display "charged" so far the only thing that will charge my nano is my car.
With the A/C wall charger I have even tried multiple cables with no luck.
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!?!?!? I thought it was suppose to charge with the provided USB cable? Thanks!

Yes you have a one year warranty from the date of purchase from Apple. Go to this link and on the bottom right hand side it will ask you to enter your serial number and will tell you if you are still under warranty. http://www.apple.com/support/
If you are you can take it to a Apple store, or request service online here http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
If it is out of warranty you can google a third party service provider and get it serviced out of warranty. There are two that I know of that provide free diagnostic service. You only pay for shipping and they will tell you what is wrong and what it will cost to fix. They are ifixipodsfast.com and ipodmods.com but there are others also (I just have no experience with them) Good luck and as was stated it should charge from your usb. and just for grins, look at the docking connector on your ipod and see if there is any obstruction that is obvious.

  • My ipod touch 4th gen wont turn on or charge and is in recovery mode.

my ipod touch 4th gen wont turn on or charge and it is in recovery mode but when it says preparing to restore it on itunes when i plug it up then the ipod disconnects from the computer and just shuts off again help me please. when it does act like its going to charge it doesnt charge and just brings up the "connect to itunes" thing.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • IPod Nano 1st Gen Replacement Program Problem

I recently sent my iPod Nano 1st Gen off for the replacement program.
I wanted to make sure I would be receiving a refurbished 1st Gen back, not one of the latest gens, so I called Apple Care to confirm this.
I'm really fond of the 1st Gen and would like to keep it as a collectors item, plus mine was in relatively good condition as well (And absolutely love the scroll wheel).
The woman I spoke to at Apple Care assured me that I would receive a refurbished 1st Gen iPod Nano, she was very clear on this.
I sent off and just received a box in the mail with replacement. To my dismay, they replaced it with a 6th GEN.
I don't want to sound ungrateful, and I do appreciate Apple keeping up customer service even for old Apple products.
But I specifically asked if a 1st gen would be returned to me, which was not the case.
I called Apple care again today, and they said they didn't have the stock and provided me with whatever they could.
Had I been told there was a chance I wouldn't receive a refurbished 1st gen in return, I wouldn't have sent it off in the first place.
Can't be too upset with Apple, but not particularly happy. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just sent a request for the shipping materials today, and if I get back a refurbished 1st generation nano, I'll be more than happy to trade it for your 6th generation
