Ipod nano 2 g has error message The ipod owners ipod cannot be updated....

My Ipod has been working great until now. When I update it in Itunes I get the message The iPod "Owners IPod" cannot be updated. The required folder cannot be found. My itunes has 220 songs but the ipod has 90. I can still add new songs though. I have reset. Uninstalled itunes and the ipod software. Tried to wipe out the ipod with the updater software but I get the message can't mount ipod. I have tried to chage the ipod to a disk drive to erase but it will not. I have unchecked all songs, erased photo files. Tried the Apple's 5 R's. Nothing works. Now trying to reach Apple or someone to help is very hard. .................Jeff

there are a lot of different FM trasmitters.. My choice would be a kensington or belkin.. I have both and they work well.. Before you buy one in the description of the product it should tell you what model they will work with.. just make sure it will work with your nano.. do a google search on "fm transmitter UK" Im sure you will get a ton of options.

I have NO photos on my Ipod Nano.  I select "Photos" and the Ipod goes to a blank screen with the msg "No Photos" at the bottom.  There must be some other file missing.  Itunes won't connect to the Ipod, I keep getting the same error over and over.  It would be nice if it told me what file is missing.

    Hello,
    Did you reinstall lately?
My 10.4.11 Drive seemes to have iTunes 7.6.2 on it, have you tried Software update to see if iTunes is listed?
Another 10.4.11 drive has iTunes 6.05 on it... I hate upgrading iTunes, seems worse at every upgrade.
The 10.5.8 drive I'm booted from now has iTunes 8.02 on it.

I know this doesn't help you Bud, but I've had this issue for at least the last couple of versions.  If I can ask, what is you enviornment like?  Local PC only, libray saved on another PC/Server?
In my case my library is on Windows 2003 server with the share mapped to drive M:  This has worked for many years through both XP and Windows 7 until and update a while ago.

  • Error message the file "itunes.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

I had to do a system recovery with a prior date.  now I get an error message: the file "iTunes.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.  Anyone have a solution?

I know this is an old thread, but the information in it solved my current problem (Windows Vista, upgraded to iTunes 11.2 and resulted in this same .itl error message).
So, I'm here to thank turingtest2 for his excellent instructions to fix my problem. One of tt2's many detailed instructional tips). THANK YOU TURINGTEST2!
PS I'm generally reluctant to "mess with files and such, preferring to use Windows Restore, because it just doesn't seem right to me that end users of Apple devices should have to get into the guts of files and such. Sadly, I have finally just accepted that iOS updates never work right and I either have to deal with work-around fixes or never update. Eventually we do need to update or there will be other problems. All I can say is, I'm sure glad there are folks like turingtest2 here who spend so much time helping us.

How are you launching iPhoto? From your Dock? The Dock icon may still be linked to an older iPhoto version. Just to be sure, you are opening really iPhoto 9.6, launch iPhoto by double-clicking the iPhoto icon in your applications folder. Your crash log  with the the "Library not found" error message should show the version number of iPhoto. Which version is it showing?

I opened iTunes and downloaded 2 songs from http://www.reverbnation.com. Shortly after I started getting this error message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54). Anyone dealt with this before?

    == Error -54 ==
From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Some of the old codes still apply to OSX although there is no formal list of OSX error codes.)
First, try simply restarting your computer.

  • .itl error message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved...

Does anyone know what causes this error message: "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. A folder was specified instead of a file."
Long story short, I am tranferring my library to a new computer. On the old computer (XP, iTunes 10) it referenced the library from an external hard drive. On the new computer (Windows 7, iTunes 10) it references the C drive (my choosing). I put the iTunes Library folder onto C/Libraries/Music/iTunes/I manually put the .itl file in C/Libraries/Music/iTunes, and it worked (all of the playlists and file data were retrieved successfully). But then iTunes starts giving me that error message, and the .itl dissapears from C/Libraries/Music/iTunes. Then when I try to reopen iTunes I get this message: "The iTunes library .itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder in the "Music" folder.
Why is iTunes having trobule saving the file? Or do I need to somehow mondify the .itl so that it is functional in this new location (on the old computer it was in a differen folder. THanks for any insight.

    Hi,
I got to messing around in the iTunes folder and now NOTHing is visible in my iTunes Library. I had made a backup of the ~\My Music\iTunes folder before I messed with anything and so deleted the entire iTunes folder. Then I restored it from the backup. There is still NOTHing in my library.
I can import one item at a time but it's impractical to do it that way due to the volume of music. How can I import All of my music into the library? Is there a way to import an entire directory, consisting of sub-directories and their music - into the library?
    Thanks very much.

  • Uninstalled Itunes because of issue, reinstalled with newest version, now it won't read my library.  Error message "The itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes"

Error message when opening itunes...The itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created in a newer version of itunes... how do i fix, it will not open with any of my ipod, ipad, iphone.

I don't know why this error occurs, unless you have attempted to downgrade iTunes.
This method should get you up and running again.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Trying to re-install itunes error message "the older version of Apple software update cannot be removed" ?

Unable to re-install itunes as error message appears "The Older Version Of Apple Software Update Cannot Be Removed"
Been to control panel and found apple software update but still unable to remove   Help!!

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Error Message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. Unknown Error 13001

    My error message says:
The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An Unknown error occurred (13001).
Ever since I loaded the new 3.0 touch upgrade I have been bombarded by error after error. I have turned off genius which seemed to fix the problem at first but about an hour later the error warning popped up again. I have tried the shift start and selected my library with no improvement. It seems to pop up if I load a new podcast or download something and then fails to download.

Hmmm, that error message came up a lot with older itunes & Genius, like 8.0 version. But you have 8.2.
I don't know why it would crash on a download unless it is maybe a permissions problem. The download starts, but permissions make it so it cannot save it at the very end? Make sure you have ownership and full control over your itunes folder and all its subfolders.

And since you've turned off Genius, try deleting these 2 files

Restart itunes and see if there is any difference....good luck!
