  • Ipod nano 1st gen 2gb will not charge makes buzzing sound when plugged u

this *** this is my 3rd ipod and i really want to know windows says usb plugged up thing not recongnized and has malfunctioed in the past i would slap my ipod and it would work this ***!!!!

Wrong term, perhaps, but I did finally drain it to the low battery warning. When reattached to the ac adapter, it will sleep when the play button is held down, or when sleep is selected from the main menu. After 1hr charge, I detached it and tried to do the same and it would not work.
I reattached it to the charger, and will let it finish charging. Sleep works again after I hook it back up - it's weird that it won't do it on it's own, though.

  • Ipod Nano and really old 20 gb Ipod, will they conflict with each other?

Hi. I guess I'm pretty lucky as I won a new Ipod Nano, 8gb. I'm very happy with my old 20 gb first edition Ipod. No issues ever with the old one. I'd like to use the new Nano working out, etc. How will Itunes know I have a new Nano and will it conflict w/my old one? Can I set playlists for just the Nano? Can I watch videos on a Nano? Any help would be great on features, do's/don'ts, etc. Thank you for the time.

    Hello Litodeck,
Since there is no limit to the number of iPods you can have synced to one library and iTunes account, you should have no problems hooking up the new nano. As to how you want to manage each iPod depends. There are number of different possibilities here. I think for the best help and information regarding these methods, I would check out this Apple support document.
[How to use multiple iPods with one computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495]
As to watching movies on your iPod, yes, you can. You will either have to import videos of your own or purchase them from the iTunes store. On top of that, you will also have to set your iPod up to sync videos from under the Videos tab for your iPod in iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod nano plays really disturbed sound.

iPod nano 6th gen. Worked perfectly for a couple of weeks or so. Then, all of a sudden, this morning the sound has crashed.
Other function still works, actually it even plays the music or radio, just not the way expected.
The sound is higly disturbed, and it is hard to recognize anything. Although if the Low Bass EQ is chosen, the voice part is coming over just enough to hear that there is one. So i guess the problem is low frequences (might be middle as well).
Tried to change volume, the EQ, tried to restore settings (in all ways possible), turn it off and on again of course. Is there some hint yet to try? =)

Actually that was the first thing i tried =)
Three different ones headphones. And checked them after on PC. All of them works just fine.
    It didn't get wet.Certainly.
Although it was connected to PC, so maybe data cable caused this. Then again there's no evidence of some short-circuit (on the outer sides i mean, i have no idea what's going on inside this little wonder).

  • IPod Nano completely broken?

    Hi there,
I got my first iPod (iPod Nano 2nd Edition 2GB) a week ago because I've been using iTunes for a while now and I wanted to get something decent to play my music on the go.
I have also bought the Nike+ Sports Kit and a Nike+ wristband to use it while running.
Now, on the first day everything went well. I could connect my iPod to iTunes, connect it to the Nike+ Sports Kit sensor, it worked perfectly. After I finished my exercises I noticed that the back of the iPod Nano was slightly wet, although I had it savely inside the Nike+ wristband which is specifically designed to it with the iPod Nano that way.
On the Morning of the second day I noticed that the display of my Nano was stuck (frozen) so I looked up the support site and managed to reset it by pressing select-menu for 6 seconds ect.
Recently these freezings have come more often (I've had to reset my iPod around 10 times in the last 4 days). I've also had to restore it a few times.
Now, today when I tried to connect my iPod to iTunes nothing happened. The iPod Nano screen is dark and stays dark, even when I have it connected to the USB cable on the PC. I've tried to reset it about 10 times in a row but the display stays dark. When I connect it to my computer iTunes doesn't recognize it, but Windows XP tells me there is a new USB device connected to my computer so the iPod must be alive somehow. The problem is that I don't know the location of the iPod driver on my computer so I can't tell windows where to search for the iPod driver to install it.
Does anybody know the location of the iPod driver on Windows machines, or does anybody know what I should do next?
I really need your help. Thank you.

    Heya,
something similar happened to me. I didn't get my ipod wet but the last week i've had to reset every time i wanted to use it and like you, mine's not recognised on my laptop and nothing happens when i try to charge it. It's propper dead!
I'm taking mine to a shop that can repair/replace ipods within warranty. New ipod here i come. You may have to do this too.
    Good luck.

  • IPod nano charges but is not recognized

    Good morning.
Im writing this topic, because I saw all the topics about this same problem, and none of them solved mine. I hope you can help me on this, so here is the thing:
When I connect my iPod to the 2.0 usb port, the ipod lights its screen, charges, but neither windows or iTunes recognizes it.
    Ive tried going to:
    1. Going to control painel
    2. Double clicking System icon
    3. Hardware < Manager of Dispositives < Universal USB thing
When Im there, I disabled the options at USB ROOT HUB on "Computer can turn it of dispositive to minimize waste of energy", as I have read on the other article to do, but it didnt help.
Here is something that Ive tried everything to understand, but I cant: In the same place (Hardware - System - Control Painel), when the iPod is connected at the computer, my ipod appears on that list! But it comes with an Exclamation Point right next to its name, and it says that it needs an software to make it useful.
    The real message is:
The drivers for this dispositive are not installed.(Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers of this dispositive, click at 'Reinstall Driver'.
Doesnt iTunes install it or whatever? What can I do to get my iPod recognized by the iTunes and computer, and then sync my songs?
    Please, I need someone's help!
    Thanks a lot,
    Andre.

Did you ever find a solution for your problem. It is exactly the same as mine and I'm so frustrated with all the problems after spending so much money for something that is supposed to be fun.
I too have done everything suggested and still no answer. My computer will not install the driver or recognize the ipod exists.
If you did find an answer, please email me with anything you think may help.
    Thanks

  • Help! ipod nano won't hold as many songs as it says it can

I have an ipod nano that is 2GB and can hold up to 500 songs. I only have 113 songs on it and when i try to put more on it it says that there is not enough room to put more songs on it. How do i make it able to hold more songs????
    Toshiba   Windows XP

Bear in mind that the song limit advertised is based on 4 minute per song, 1MB per minute, encoded as 128 kbps in AAC format.
Check the encoding of your songs. To do this, right click one the sorting columns in iTunes tick bit rate, then click this new column to sort the songs by bit rate. Any songs that are encoded at higher than 128 kbps will be causing excess space to be used for storage. To change the bit rate of these songs you can convert them to AAC format (sound quality will be lost). Or you can reimport them from CD/Computer once you have changed the import settings as detailled below, but that could be time consuming.
To convert go to the edit menu, select preferences, click the advanced tab, and select importing. For best song capacity on the iPod, make sure that the encoder is set to "Import using AAC encoder", and "High quality 128 kbps". Hit OK. Then collect together all the high encoded songs and select them all (click the top one and hold shift, then click the bottom one). Right click the highlighted area and go to "Convert selection to AAC". This could take a while if there are many songs.
Once complete, go to the Edit menu, and select "Show duplicate songs". Delete all the "old" songs, recognisable by their bitrate, format or size. Again, to show these, right click a sorting column, and tick the respective ones.
Once this is done, update the iPod.
If your songs are all changed into 128kbps AAC and are mostly all around 4 mins long, then you should get very close to the song limit advertised

  • Ipod Nano 1st gen not working

    Hello all
I have a Ipod nano 1st gen 2gb. I can restore it, reset it with menu select key, but everytime it starts it loads to the lanuage screen and i can not click to get further into the ipod, it use to work before i upgraded the firmware to the new 1.3.1. is there away to downgrade back to like 1.1.9. I am running vista 64 bit so i cant run the 32bit restore program to try that. If there is anythign anyone can think of that will be great. Yes i have reset it via the menu key and select key like 1000 times...

I downgraded the nano from 1.3.1 to 1.1.1 then down to 1.0 and then back to 1.3.1 and still the same thing, no select function upon the Language Screen. Anyone have anything else i can try?

I am new user to this site so apologize if I am a bit "lo-tech".
MY PC is a 4 year old Dell 4550 desktop with 256 MB of RAM. I run Norton Internet Security 2005 and Webroot SpySweeper and XP Pro firewall turned off.
I have an older IPod 20 GB and currently use a version of Itunes 4. I have never upgraded to any other version of ITunes even though I began reeceiving prompts asking me if I wanted to upgrade about 8 months ago when plugging in my IPod or launching Itunes.
I have also just in the last 2 days upgraded to MSoft IE 7. My Itunes is now behaving strange and will lock up after sometimes only importing 1 CD. I have to use CTRLALTDEL to shut it down and reboot to get the system to start functioning again. I have considered upgrading to Itunes 7.0 but after reading all the horror stories I am very leery of this.
I have never reset or restored my IPod, nor have I ever uninstalled/reinstalled the original version that came with Ipod.
I would welcome any advice from the many experts I have noticed are using these forums......:( help pls!!

  • TS1382 i have my ipod nano 2nd generation for about 4 years then my friend stole it and gave it back 2 years later which was about 3 years ago. i havnt used it since and now it wont turn on.

i just want to know how to get it to start working again.

You would have to buy a new battery like this:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-New-Battery-360mah-Replacement-for-iPod-Nano-2nd-Gen -2GB-4GB-616-0273-Tools-/330824148732?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item4 d06a7e6fc
And then replace the battery. Here is a tutorial:

The replacement battery above also includes some tools although you should have a small screwdriver. After that you should be good to go.

  • My ipod nano doesnt have enough battery for the computer to recognize it

Well my ipod nano is really screwed up!
Ok so a couple weeks ago I plugged my ipod into my computer because the battery was getting pretty low, and my computer didn't recognize it so i restarted the computer plugged it into a different port and it still didnt work. I tried this with every port on my computer and by the time i had done that the ipod was completely out of battery. I have tried resetting it but it still wouldnt stay on long enough for my computer to recognize it. Also, before this happened, it sometimes took two or three times of plugging it in for my computer to recognize it. Then I installed an update for my ipod and when it took all the songs off of it and then put them back on, it put all of the songs I have on itunes on my ipod whether they were checked or not and i couldnt get them off. Basically I would like to know if I should send it in to be repaired or if there is something I can do to fix it myself. Thank you so much!

Why don't you try resetting the iPod while it is attached to the computer?
Also, see if either of these help (whichever applies)...

  • Specs of the ipod nano battery

    Hello everybody
My main question is: What capacity does the original ipod nano battery have?
I'm not looking for a 3rd parity replacement - i'm only concerned about the max. charging current given by apple as 1 Amp.
Li-Ion as well as Li-Poly batteries can be charged at a maximum of 1C (0.5A for 500mAh, 0.7A for 700mAh and so on)
higher charging current is quite dangerous and can result in damage or even explosion.
I doubt that the ipod nano batteries really have a capacity of 1000mAh. So i wonder if the current is limited by the ipod itself.
    Does anybody know this?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
While I don't know a great deal about batteries, charging currents, etc., I would tell you to just stick with what Apple says.
I'm sure there are other parts inside the iPod nano that could be affected by higher voltages, or there is some other reason for this limit.

  • PSP w/ 2gb memory stick VS. iPod nano 2gb

    What would you rather have?
PSP with a 2gb memory stick or iPod nano 2gb
PSP has gaming and internet capabilities though
but iPod nano is EXTREMELY portable and with the nike + apple sport kit launching soon if your a runner it would be cool

They really serve completely different purposes. I have both and would never really consider using the PSP for music. It's just too big & clunky for that. It's great for games though.
What are you looking for, a portable music player, or a portable game system?
    Cheers!

  • Ipod Nano 2Gb Not Recognized

    Hi.
Today I bought a Second Generation iPod nano 2gb. I've downloaded iTunes and connected the iPod via USB 2.0. All my usb ports are on and they don't turn off. When I plug in the iPod, it charges, but does not show up in iTunes or under My Computer. When I plug it in, my computer prompts me to the New Hardware Installing Wizard. It is always of no help to me so I just cancel it. Under my computer, the Ipod does not show. It also does not show in iTunes. I have done the 4 R's 3 times now. I am sure I've searched everything to make my iPod work. I've looked at all the help topics on this page and I've done everything advised and it still does not show up. PLEASE HELP!

  • After runnin iPod Updater 2006-06-28 for my 2GB iPod Nano my computer froze

I installed iTunes 6.0.5 and my 2GB iPod Nano was recognized... everything seemed OK. I then tried running iPod Updater 2006-06-28 and this is when my problems began. After running the Updater program my iPod froze during the update process. I had to shutdown my computer in order to stop the updater program. Upon restarting my computer, iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod and if I run the updater program again it continues to freeze or does not recognize my iPod. When I plug in my iPod, Windows recognizes my iPod but my computer becomes very slow. Please note that when my iPod is not connected to my computer it appears to be OK but all my data has been removed. The updater program also appears to have been successful in updating my iPod to v1.2.
To try and resolve this issue I performed Apple's Five Rs and also followed Apples instructions for "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes." Please see the links below for these procedures.
