IPod Nano 3G 8GB wont start up. :(

Ok well i have the 3G Nano and it wont power up at all.
I've plugged it into my computer and it just goes to the Apple screen and turns off and then just keeps doing that.
If I plug it into a docking station it will turn on but once i remove from the dock it turns off.
I need solutions cause i dont wanna waste the time and send it into Apple.
Any tips will be helpful thanks.

if you live near an apple store, you can simply make an appointment and have them take a look at it right there in the store.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the Nano to sit and charge for at least 30 minutes, try resetting it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. You'll want to make sure the Hold Switch is not in the On position as well.

Clean any debris from the adapter, docking station connector and the connector on the Nano.

  • TA44551 Apple ipod nano 6th generation wont charge on pC, mains or car.

My ipod nano 6th generation wont charge, either through mains, car or computer USB charger.  Had it one month, bought it from Amazon.  Just dead, wont wake up.  When it had charge tried master reset etc. still not able to charge or recognised/charge on PC

It'll need to charge for a while before it will turn on. Leave it to charge for a couple of hours, then try again.

If you mean that iTunes does not see your iPod:
    - Did you try everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - Try another cable
    - Try another computer
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Do Apple stores sell iPod nano (RED 8GB) in stores? or is it only online?

Just like what the question says:
Do Apple stores sell iPod nano (RED 8GB) in stores? or is it only online?

Yes, Apple sells them at their stores as well as online.
The red nanos were there at the Apple store I went to once.

    Try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod nano 4g 8gb detected but wont turn on

I have an 8gb nano 4th gen and ive owned it for about two years. I can connect it to the computer and iTunes will detect it in recovery mode but it will not turn on after i have restored it. It just tells me to restore the iPod. I have restored it plenty of times but keeps coming up as the same message and still won't turn on.

Read the iPod nano (5th generation) - User Guide for a possible solution, search through Apple's Knowledge Base for support Articles and/or iPod Nano Support

  • IPod Nano 7th gen wont turn on after a restore

I tried holding down the top and middle buttons and it wont work, this is a replacement one for an iPod Nano 7th gen with corrupted software, could it be the same problem?
During the restore it says it's restored and not to disconnect my iPod but then can't seem to find it so it repeats the restore again and again
Starting to get really annoyed with it now

  • Ipod nano 5th gen wont restore

My iPod nano decided to not charge or sync, and then when I decided to show up on my macbook pro, I clicked restore and half way through the restore it decided to drop out and wont come back up on the computer. I have tried plugging it into another MacBook Pro, a Dell PC and same thing. Also when I do plug it in it turns into a white screen and shows a tick and ok to disconnect and doesnt even come up on the Mac.
    Any ideas from here?
    Thanks

If you have not already, do a Reset on the iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
In case the battery is drained, do the Reset while it is connected to power (USB port or power adapter).  If that does not help, try putting it into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1363
If Disk Mode works, shut down (power off) the MacBook.  Disconnect all other USB devices and connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the MacBook.  Start up the MacBook, and run iTunes to see if the iPod is recognized.  iTunes may prompt you with an "iPod in recovery" message.  Try to do a Restore again, if possible.
Also, to rule out a bad USB docking cable, try a different cable or use that cable with a different device, if possible.  Since you tried it with different computers, I think you've ruled out something wrong with the USB port on the first MacBook.

I am not able to read those logs (I doubt many users here are). Have you been through these?
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
Only the Apple logo appears when turned on.

  • New Ipod Nano 4G does not start

    Hello,
I bought an Ipod Nano 4G last Monday. I connected it to my computer and it started up. It was also reconized by Itunes. So I let the Ipod load for at least 5 hours. When I disconnect it the ipod switched off. I tried to switch it on again but it was not possible. I made the 5 Steps (reset, repeat, restart, reinstall, recover) but nothing changed. Today I went back to the shop and they changed the ipod. But with the new one I have still the same problem.
    Any tip to help me?
    Thank you in advance
    Thomas

My first Ipod was orange and the second one is blue.
I conntacted the Apple Hotline and they will exchange the Ipod again. The dealer has only pink Ipods left and I do not want to have a pink one. I allready found the above mentioned discussion. This discussion helped a lot. I allready believed that I am too stupid to handle a simple Ipod. But the discussion show me that it is not me and that there is a big problem at apple with the 4G Ipod Nano.
    Regards
    Thomas
