IPod Nano 3rd Gen won't play AIFF files from Logic Pro 9

Hi, so I've bounced a few tracks I was working on in Logic pro 9 as AIFF files, imported them into iTunes and then synced them down to both an iPod Touch 2nd gen and this iPod Nano 3rd Gen. The tracks play fine on the iPod Touch, but on the Nano, when I try to play a track, it shoes the "player" screen for a second, but it always bounces back to the track listing.
According to the iPod Nano 3rd gen spec sheet, it does support AIFF files:
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP14
Any idea as to why this is happening?
Also, I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.4, iTunes 9.2 and I reset the iPod nano just before starting this whole project.
I'd like to keep the tracks in AIFF if possible...

Greetings WonderfulT1,

  • My Ipod Nano (3rd Gen) won't sync with Itunes. Help!

My Ipod nano 3rd gen stopped syncing with my Itunes for some reason. I switched the cords and it still doesn't sync. It doesn't even show the little lightning bolt on the battery and more.

CORRECTION IT IS A 4TH GEN.

  • IPod nano 6th gen won't play my music.

My iPod nano 6th gen has worked fine for years and when I synced it recently it would play some tunes fine, cut some off mid-way through and skip some completely. The first thing I done was just tried to sync it again but this didn't make a difference so I reset my iPod through iTunes and synced it again but this made it worse, when I pressed play it comes up with the pause button but if I go to the next screen where you can see how far through the song is the bar wasn't moving, so the tunes aren't playing, so following this I formatted my iPod on my pc and then reset it on iTunes (I had to replace the folders I had removed during formatting) and that didn't do anything it still won't play anything. It's not my headphones as they work fine in my pc, and it's not my music as it worked fine before and they all play fine on my pc. What else can I do?

What do you mean by select tracks?  It will only play particular tracks or repeatedly play a particular track? What format are these problem tracks in?

  • Ipod Nano 3rd gen. won't allow videos to be synced

My itunes account allows me to download and play TV shows on my computer, but when I try to sync them to my ipod, they won't. My ipod also won't allow me to reset it to factory settings, even when in disk mode. Any ideas?

  • Ipod nano 3rd gen won't accept music

So, I just bought an ipod nano 3rd generation off of Craigslist.
Now, the guy said that the iPod worked. When I got it home, I was looking through the music already on it when it froze. I don't know if this caused my problem, but I just plugged it in from its frozen state into my computer.
I reset it to factory settings, then started loading music onto it. iTunes showed that it was loading all of this music onto my iPod. But, every time I eject it, the iPod shows that I have none. Does anybody know how to help me? I'm tired of being iPodless. :/

  • My iPod nano 3rd gen won't sync to my iTunes.

I was charging my iPod when it ended up going to a white screen. I reset it like I was suppose to and that didn't help, so I connected it to my laptop and restored it via iTunes like another post on this forum had suggested. I went back through the setup and did everything the way I had the first time and now it won't sync to my iTunes library. When I go to the iPod tab and select sync, it loads for maybe half a second and stops on my computer screen, then the iPod will show that it's syncing for a few more seconds and then it stops and there is no media on the iPod. Can anyone maybe help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to sync my 3rd gen nano as well with itunes 10 but in my case I can see the removable drive in the Finder. I can eve write files to this mounted drive.
When I connect the same nano to my Windows XP which also has itunes 10 it shows up with the starting config screen.

  • Help!!! My ipod nano (3rd gen) won't sync!!

I am very confused and need someone's expert help with my Nano.  I began downloading music like crazy.  All was working well, suddenly one day, my ipod will no longer work on my computer; not recognized.  I try everything I can think of, finally resorting to restoring my ipod to factory beginnings.  Which wipes out all of my music.  I think I am safe because Itunes will save it all.  Not to be!! I lost it all there too.  I began loading all my music again.  Took me forever.  Laptop now recognizes my ipod, and all the music is on it, but I cannot add any of it to Itunes.  Nor can I download any purchased music in the "new" account I have without wiping out what is on the ipod.
Please, please someone tell me what I have done wrong and how to fix it. I will be so grateful for any advice.

  • Ipod Nano (7th gen) won't play in Prius

I have no problems with my ipod classic or with my husband's ipod classic (these use the old USB cords).  But when I try my nano or iphone 5 (both use the newer cord that came with the nano), the connection doesn't work.
When I connect it, I get the black screen that says that the device is connected and I can play music through the stereo as usual.  Music will play for about 10 seconds and then the ipod stops.  At this point the ipod either restarts completely or goes to it's home menu and doesn't reconnect to the car.  I will try unplugging the cord and restarting the process but it doesn't always work.  I've tried resetting the nano but it doesn't seem to make a difference.  The disconnection issue happens whether the car is moving or if I'm parked in my driveway.  I have also tried getting a new cord and using the one that came with the iphone but it didn't make a difference.

does no one have any suggestions?

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.

iPod nano 3rd gen. Apple logo remains on screen and iTunes doesn't recognise it's plugged in, I can't even turn it off. I've tried to get to disc menu but when I hold the 'menu and select button' it reboots and then doesn't recognise the select and play button to show the tick. I'm helpless.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod nano 3rd gen gets error code -9459 when I try to convert a video in Itunes

I'm tring to convert video from Youtube to play on my ipod nano 3rd gen.  When i go to itunes and Advanced and set it to convert for ipod it goes on for quite a while then about 3/4 way done I get error message Erroe occurred converting file "teapot 1". An unknown error (-9459)
What do I do?  I tried Real player converter too - no luck.

I'm not sure about the error message, but it might just be easier to use an application such as Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip to create an iPod compatible version of the video.

  • Ipod nano 3rd Gen not recognized by itunes or windows 7

    USB device not recognized.
    things I have done
put Ipod in disk mode still didn't recognized
My Ipod Classic 6th Gen works fine
It shows 3 Mass Storage Device
when I plug in Ipod nano 3rd gen it shows unknow device
have deleted Mass storage devices and Apple Moble Devices
    unpluged computer from wall
    nothing solving problem
I also tried it on my laptop its not being recognized
my wife Ipod nano is doing the same thing as mine
its got to be the software download from itunes because it has worked on all previous versions.

I have the same problem. My Iphone 4s works fine when docked to PC. PC won't recognize my 3rd Gen Nano. Same goes for my Work PC. They don't recognize it nor will plugging it in to a PC charge it. I have to plug it into wall socket to charge.
I have tried resetting, I have tried downloading newest Itunes.
Must be the Nano itself if it doesn't get recognized by mutliple PCs?
I haven't used the Nano for probably 2 months. Previously it worked fine...
One thing, when docked to my laptop during a reboot/startup, it intially starts to charge the Nano, but once setup is finished it doesn't recognize it any longer...

  • IPod Nano 3rd Gen Issues: would be grateful for any help

    Dear all,
I recently purchased an iPod Nano 3rd Gen for my wife. I have been using a mac for 7 years, still have my first iPod 5GB scroll wheel as well as a 60 GB iPod video 5.5 Gen.
    Here's what's happening.
iPod Nano connected via dock (which is in a USB hub...could that cause problems?)
    Connect, sync, no worries.
Update iPod Nano software to 1.0.2.
iPod then, halfway through syncing, flashes the Apple Logo every 6-7 secs and then does the same again.
It is not recognised in iTunes like that.
    Any help?
    A hopeful Dan

    Hi,
Same thing just happened to me - I have put the Nano 3G into disk mode (hold Menu and Select for 10 seconds then immediately hold Play/Pause and Select).
Just doing a factory restore now, that should bring it back to a brand new state and will try again from there.
