IPod nano 3rd generation showing up in ITunes but will not synch
I created new playlists in iTunes about 2 months ago and they synched to my Nano with no problems. I created a new playlist yesterday, plugged in the Nano via a USB and I can't get iTunes to synch with Nano. So the current playlists on it do not show up in iTunes and vice versa. I do have the latest version of iTunes installed
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

Ipod nano 2nd generation is seen by computer but will not format
The windows computer using Itunes sees the Ipod and restore gets to format, but cannot complete the job. The devices shows 0 space available.
I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with Apple and they were stumped. We tried everything!!! uninstalling itunes, updating "usb mass storage" drivers, etc...
I have an ipod touch 16gb, Gateway computer using Vista, and my computer recognized the ipod but itunes didn't start up when I plugged it in and it was not recognized in itunes.
Long story short, after reading almost every thing I could find on google and Apple help I stumbled onto the info about the 2.0 usb port. In looking to see if my computer had a 2.0 usb port (just to be sure)I found that it would be listed as "enhanced" in the Universal Serial Bus Controller section of Device Manager. Sooooo, I tried updating those drivers and it worked! I think. I did so many things, but this seemed to do the trick. It's worth a try. Mine is working perfectly now.
start
control panel
device manager
universal serial bus controllers
right click on the "enhanced host controller" (mine listed 2, so I did both)
choose automatic update
then plug in the ipod. That seemed to allow my ipod to download the proper driver. Tadaaa - itunes started and my ipod is now recognized in itunes.
Worth mentioning is that my ipod had to do a restore. Not sure why, maybe it was something apple had me try.
GOOD LUCK!! -

A song I purchased shows up in iTunes, but will not show up on my iPhone. When the phone is plugged into the computer, iTunes shows that it is on my iPhone, but it is not. How do I get that song to show up on my iPhone?
I have the same problem and it only affects the one song, everything else syncs

Following the instructions on the Apple website on how to transfer music to a new computer using your iPod, it basically says that you have to hook up your iPod to your old computer. Seeing as my old computer (a PC running Vista) died a horrible death and no longer works - including the hard drive being corrupted, I cannot do this. Is there a way to sync my iPod Nanop 3rd generation to my brand new iMac without losing all my music?

My Ipod touch 4th gen shows up under devices but will not let me sync to it.
I am using windows XP with the newest updates. I have itunes 10.5 currently installed on the computer. My ipod does not have the newest ios software on it. When I plug my Ipod up, it opens itunes and loads it under devices correctly. Since i don't currently have an internet connection the itunes store tries to open and I close the box out, which it gives me an error that "the itnunes store could not be connected, check cable connections and try again". A white screen is visibile with the word "Ipod" in the middle on the right side. My Ipod at this point is still visible under devices, but can not sync to it; under file the sync to ipod command is grayed out, unable to be clicked on. The ipod connect and synced perfect with itunes 9 before upgrade to 10.5. Any suggestions to fix this problem would be great.
Figured the problem out. I had to be hooked up to the internet the first time that I hooked my Ipod touch up so that I could register it through the Itunes store. Since I got the newest Itunes 10.5, it requires that I register the Apple product first. Now with the internet unplugged I can plug my Ipod touch into the computer and sync it up like I normally do.

ive tried uninstalling itunes and re installing many times and my ipod th generation still says cannot be reconised ? someone please help
ive tried uninstalling itunes and re installing many times
Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components (Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support, etc ...) and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 -
Ipod needs a restore and will show up on itunes but will not show up on my computer
is there any way i can still retrieve my songs before i have to do a restore?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reboot the computer
- Try another USB port and cable
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Try on another computer (do not sync) to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem -
I was able to restore my Ipod Nano 3rd Generation back to factory settings, but the ipod is still personalized with my name. How do I remove or change that? And, how can I be sure all music, personal info is completely gone because I am giving it to someone?
There is a rather large database in Apple Support for all iPod Nano models, though
a quick look through did not provide a simple direct answer to the question of how
to prepare an iPod Nano for a new owner, or for a new user; also to de-personalize
the product so it would not be locked or broken.
•iPod Nano - How To - Apple Support: (main)
https://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/how-to/
This kind of question comes up in similar form across most iDevice sections; usually
after someone has bought or was given one, and it won't work. At least you are in
the right track, to try & clear it ahead of a problem, so a new owner can use it.
Be sure to deauthorize the unit in the process of removing your identification from it;
and also check to see how the AppleID affects the next owner experience. It will.
There should be a way to accomplish most of this within iTunes from a Mac.
Rather again, too general:

Sorry to not have the single answer in my reply.
Good luck & happy computing! -
My ipod nano 3rd generation, when connected by usb, does not show up in itunes, does not show up on my computer, does not seem to charge by the wall charger. It just has a black screen. Any ideas for me?
I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :( -

IPod Nano 3rd generation: Only plays songs recently downloaded to my iTunes Library
iPod Nano 3rd generation (Version 1.1.3) for Windows
Any song that I download onto the iPod shows up in its library, but when I try to listen to the songs, they won't play.
The only songs the iPod will play are those that have just recently downloaded onto my iTunes library.
If the new songs aren't on the iPod, then when I try to play a song, the "now playing" screen shows up, not showing any songs, and the playlist says "playing 1 of 0"Hi LeviBC,
It sounds quite frustrating having your iPod only play certain songs, I am quite sure I would be unhappy in similar circumstances. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
If you are having issues with your iPod nano (3rd generation) not playing some of your music, I would suggest troubleshooting using the steps found on this page -
