i bought an ipod nano (4/5th gen.)and i want to delete his music and videos and put on mine. How do i do that? a message says he needs to type in some password because the ipod is under his account. how do i get it transferred to mine??

I used to be able to create/play video playlists on my iPod Nano 5th Gen without any issues.
How do I accomplish this on my iPod Touch 32GB 5th Gen?
I've tried experimenting with categorizing videos into types, but that does not help nor does it play the videos.

I just don't get it. I got the iPod from a friend which didn't use it at all. If I connect my iPad or iPad mini to my mac, they all get connected well and iTunes sees them too. iPod touch not for some reason
The iPod touch is completely new, no missing contacts etc. It works on other macs as well. Only my iMac doesn't see the iPod Touch. Maybe I can repost this problem in The IMAC section in stead of the iPod Touch, since I think its a iMac problem from now on...

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

i just bought new docking station for my ipod nano 4th/5th generation but when i take my ipod off the docking station it goes black. the docking station plays my music from the ipod, gets radio and does everything very well but when i take the ipod off, its like the ipod has no charge, even though when its on the docking station it says it has full battery ? please help!

Thanks for the question. That definitely sounds frustrating, we'll need to isolate the issue further to determine if there is indeed a hardware issue with the device. Does the same behavior occur after charging the iPod with the included wall/usb charger?

IPod Nano 4Gb (2nd Gen) not detected by Windows or iTunes

I am hoping someone can help me with this as I am at my wits end.
When I plug my iPod into the usb port, it begins the charging process, but neither windows, nor iTunes will detect any new devices. I have tried the 4 R's (the fifth needs a connection with iTunes), putting it into disc mode, and even on 3 different windows computers, but no dice. To save the no doubt normal questions, The usb ports are 2.0, and brand spanking new, which i have tested sucessfully with other usb devices, so I know it's not the usb port. I have the latest drivers & updates installed, and the latest version of iTunes also installed.
Other potentially useful info:
The model is iPod nano 4bg alu 2nd gen
It's not new, i was given it as a gift by a friend who upgraded to the video model.
Though I can't be sure, I suspect that the dock cable isn't an apple product. Given that *very few* places where I live sell official iPod accessories, it is difficult for me to check.
Like I said, i really hope someone can help me, I really don't know how long i can go listening to my friends rather dubious music tastes...

Using my iPod Nano 4GB (2nd gen) with the Fatman iTube's remote control.

I am using the iPod Nano 4GB with my new 'Fatman iTube' valve amp and dock.

All works fine (beautiful sound) but only some of the remote control functions work.
Volume and power off/on and treble/bass work fine but the iPod functions like skip and FF and playlists and menu dont work from the remote control.
The company that make the amp (TLA) and the dealer (Audio T) both inform me that this is a common problem with remote controls on 3rd party iPod dock hi-fi systems and that Apple are not revealing when they will issue a software fix.
It only happens with 2nd gen Nanos. All other iPod types talk with these remotes with no problem.
I have been given a temporary 'workaround' by the manufacturer which is OK for now.
Have any of you had similar problems between the 2nd generation Nano and remote controls on 3rd party (non Apple) hifi systems?

I have a iPod nano 4 GB (2nd gen.) I have had it for years and up till recently the battery was great on it.
For a few weeks now my battery will die very quickly. I will have it fully charged and within 2 hours it will be dead. I have no applications running, just music. Nothing has changed at how I use it, but the battery just does not hold.
I charged it again last night and listened to music for about 30 min when I checked it, the battery was about dead. I gave it a few min. then it said it was half way charged?
I do not have wi-fi or anything on this...just music.
I also checked to make sure its software was up to date which it is. Can it just be the batterys worn out?

Yes. Your iPod's Lithium ion battery will slowly start to lose its ability to retain full capacity over time. Nothing lasts forever. Sorry.

ich habe gesehen das der Ipod Nano 7 Gen Nike+ vorinstalliert hat. In dieser App besteht die Möglichkeit den Ipod Nano und Nike+ mit einem Brustgurt zu verbinden.
Ich konnte jedoch bisher keinen Hinweis darauf finden welcher Brustgurt dafür vorgesehen ist.

Ipod Nano 4 syncs to versions earlier then 10.4.. I use the CD/Backup/Restore feature with 10.3.1...When you go to a higher version you lose this CD/DVD/Restore feature...I found out about this the hard way..I started with iTunes ver.11.1.1.5 and no sync as the backup and restore was grayed out..So I went to 10.3.1 and restored all my music from the discs..So if I DL the latest ITunes Version I lose the backup/restore feature again..The one thing I criticize Apple for is they keep customers in the dark about which device syncs to what version..Last time I talked to Apple tech he did not have a clue to guide me..Is there a way to restore the Nano 4 using 10.3.1 as I want to keep as is?....To further complicate things my LCD is out and and since its vintage repair isn't available as I am finding out..However,do you know if Ipod Nano 5 is still available to buy as it will also sync to 10.3.1..Sorru to compound the issue..Thx,Nicolino

Nike+ for iPod Nano 6th/7th gen?

On the Nike+ website it says that I need a nike+ iPod reciever for 6th gen (or earlier) Nanos but that I don't need one for a 7th gen Nano (http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/home_no_devices).
How can I tell if what I have is a 6th or 7th gen Nano? I can't find any mention of 7th gen on the Apple website.
