Ipod nano 4 digit code?

My 6 year old got ahold of my 11 year old's nano. Somehow, she set a lock on it and now it is requiring a 4 digit code to unlock the nano. I have tried resetting it, connecting it to the computer, nothings working.
Is there a factory setting code that I am unaware of? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Well, I tried the reset directions. The summary doesn't pop up at all and allow me to reset. I'm just not computer savy enough to know what the heck to do... I didn't want to drive all the way up to the mall, but I suppose I'm going to have too.. any other thoughts?

is there a way i can unlock it without reseting or the computer i first had?
There is not.  Your only option is to connect the Nano to your new iTunes library and restore it.
    Restoring iPod to factory settings
You can redownload any iTunes purchases again at no cost via iCloud using the same Apple ID you originally downloaded them with.  See here for more information and instructions.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For all other non-iTunes purchases content, you'll need to redownload/re-rip it to iTunes again from its original source such as another MP3 store or from CD.

  • IPod Nano Lock Code for Volume Limit change

Does anyone know what the 4-digit code on the Nano is as it comes from Apple, or know where in the documentation I can find it ? I want to change the volume limit and don't know what the code is and can't find it in any of the packaging material that came with the Nano...
...I don't want to have to restore it, and lose all of the files I have on it and have to re-load it from scratch.
    Thanx !

It doesn't come locked so there should not be a limit on it. Restore it in iTunes to clear it if you have one. This is a 1st Generation Nano?

  • ********Forgot ipod nano volume code********

I forgot the code to the volume control. I have done everything suggested to unlock, I've even reset my ipod to the factory setting and still can't unlock the code. I'd figure this would be the best for me to get help at this pont. Any suggestions??

this is what i would do:
enable the disk mode, backup all musics on your ipod, close the iTune, then use either disk utility or the format command on windows to fast format the ipod, whatever format will do, itune will later restore it to te right format.

  • IPod Nano 2nd Generation is requesting 4 digit code. I have never set a lock code. What is this and how can I get my Nano running again?

There is no other way to bypass the combintation lock other than to connect the nano to iTunes and restore it to factory settings, erasing all content and settings from the iPod.

  • Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37) for Ipod Nano

I have a Ipod Nano for 5 years and Saturday I was updating the latest Itunes and when I connect my Ipod to my PC I got a Code 37 error. I uninstalled the new itunes and put back the old itunes but my Ipod is still having the same error.  I did the same thing to unistall the ipod and itunes reboot the PC and installed itunes 10.7 back in and then my Ipod and still have the error. Then last night I tried out my Ipod Shuffle and connect it to my PC and it was installed successfully. Do I have to get a new Ipod if my nano isn't working (but it still plays)?

Try putting it into "Disk Mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
Then with it in this mode connect it to the PC and try to run the latest iPod updater to do a restore and update software if you have the option. the latest iPod updater is 2006-03-23 and can be downloaded here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

  • My iPod Nano 7's Driver is coming up with a code 10 on Win7.

My driver isn't working for my iPod Nano 7, and I know this because I was trying to update the driver for my phone. It won't charge on this laptop, and it won't show up in iTunes. I have the necesary updates, but nothing is working. Do I need to update my driver? Please help me out here.

Ok, so now it's displaying a code 43, and has "Unknown Device" on it. So I did what it told me to on troubleshooting, but it says "
If the hardware ID displayed starts with this:
    USB\VID_0000&PID_0000
This means that Windows cannot read the hardware IDs of the device, and so has replaced them with all zeros. This is typically caused by a faulty USB connection, or an incompatibility with your USB chipset drivers."
So then, what do I do if it displays "USB\UNKNOWN"?

  • My iPod touch tells me to connect it to iTunes, but iTunes tells me to write the 4 digit code on the iPod, which is locked.

My iPod touch tells me to connect it to iTunes, but iTunes tells me to write the 4 digit code on the iPod. Problem is that the iPod only shows an image of the iTunes logo, and I can't write the code anywhere.

The link is not really broken.  I get:
"Due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support systems, some features of the website are currently unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience."
What happens when you try to restore the iPod via iTunes?  Error messages?

    Hello only1ant,
I found an article with some steps you can take if you remember the passcode on your iPod touch:

  • TS1372 Cannot restore IPod Nano 6th Generation without error code 1413.

I'm trying to restore and Ipod Nano that I bought off of eBay.  Itunes says that it was initially formatted on a Mac and I need to restore it.  When I go to restore it, I get the error code, 1413.  I have restarted the computer, shut it down and restarted, used another usb port and nothing has worked.  Any suggestions?

You're welcome! Happy to help. Glad it worked.

    Does it work OK otherwise?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable and USB port and/or charging source
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipod just adds apps but won't delete any. I can't restore it to its factory settings as I don't know the 4 digit code. Can anyone help please?

My ipod will add apps happily but it won't delete any so they've built up so now I can't add anymore. . I can't take it back to the factory settings because I don't know the 4 digit code. Please can someone help?! xxx

Sorry. You can't get help here. Ask whoever wrote the jailbreak.
You can try putting it in DFU mode (google is your friend), but that's all we can suggest.
Jailbreaking voids your warranty and AppleCare agreement and forfeits all rights to support.

There isn't one.  You'll need to connect the Nano to your iTunes library and restore to factory settings.  There is no other way.
