hi. i have an Apple iPod nano 4 GB Green (2nd Generation) and i need a mic for it, i don't know if it support the Mic or not, can anyone give me some light about that please..thanx

To my knowledge, Apple were originally going to release the new Nano 4G in both 4GB & 8GB models. However, to coincide with the release of a memory upgrade on Microsoft's new Zune products, Apple made a 16GB model just before the release date.
Therefore, this explains why it took them so long to get their 16GB models shipped and these 4GB models are what they made up until they decided to scrap that idea and only release the 8GB & 16GB models.

IPod nano RED Special Edition (2nd generation) Won't Charge

I recently found my red ipod nano that I haven't seen in years while cleaning my room. I don't remeber when I got it but know it was a very long time ago when I originally purchased it. I plugged in one of my chargers into the ipod and plugged it into my computer. I pulled up itunes and reset my ipod completley erasing everything. I was than able to select the songs that I wanted to put on it completley fine. I noticed that the battery wasn't charged at all so I let it set there over night while I slept. When I woke up this morning the battery was completely charged, at least it claimed to be, so I unplugged it from my computer only to find that my ipod had shut off by itself. The screen slowly faded away like all electronic devices do when the unit runs out of a charge. I found it very odd and decided to plug back in my ipod to my computer. The ipod turns on like nothing is wrong and the batttery status shows that it's charging again. I can plug in my heaadphones and even listen to my music that I put on it, but only when my ipod is connected to my computer. I unpluged it again from my copmtuer after letting it charge for some time and the same thing occured, the unit shuts off completely as if it ran out of charge and the screen slowly fades away. I also tried plugging it into my speaker dock system that I have that charges my ipod and allows me to play music at the same time. Oddly enough the unit turns on and I'm able to listen to the music that I recently turned on. The battery symbol also indicates that it's charging, even after charging it completley twice. After some time I unplug it again from the docking station and to no surprise the unit shuts off by itself as if it ran out of charge while in use.
It seems that my ipod is functioning completely fine with reagards to being able to connect it to itunes, sync music to it, and all the stuff it's suppose to do, it just can't seem to hold a charge. The battery status shows up as empty after repluging it into my computer. After the battery indicator symbol turns to fully charged I disconnect it and unplug the unit from my computer only for the unit to shut off completely like it ran out of charge. I cannot turn it on unless it's hooked up to my computer or docking station.
I'm lost as to what is the problem. Thanks for any input.

So your suggesting to fully let it charge completely and then unplug it and repeat in the hopes that eventually it will be able to hold the charge?

So is the 7th generation iPod Nano in fact a 6th generation iPod Nano with a software upgrade only ?

I went to buy a 7th Generation Nano from a local Apple store and when I gto home to set it up, I found out that it had the old software (i.e. small icons and only two clock faces). I took it back to the Apple store and they informed me that it was the latest model (i.e. 6th gen) and that I had to update the Software to make it a 7th gen model..... this all seems contrary to the following article on the 7th gen tear down....

Same thing with us. We were told that no "new" stock was brought in to the store, just they lowered the price on the current xtg inventory, so buy it now as you don't need the nike kit. Here's apple's own link showing gen 6 as current:

Seems like a good way to inject a few more sales as the "new version" at the keynote got our attention. The gen is moot for us as it seems to be working for us so far as it held a charge overnight powered off. We still are testing that it doesn't drain down too fast for our uses running. If it works for what you want, does it really matter what you or someone else wants to call it?

Why does apple take off apple ipod nano chromatic for the 5th generation?

What can I do if mi iPod nano chromatic of 5th generation ir really does not works so well the only buttons that work are the Middle one, The circle for changing volumen, and the one to go back... Isee Nano case work on 2nd Generation

I have just purchased a Black 8GB IPod Nano today and ordered the Contour Isee case with it.
Will that case fit this new ipod ?
As i noticed that the design of the new ipod is different and also is 0.1" thinner than the old one.

I've got the same problem with my new nano 8Gb. The ipod don't fit with the isee case. Do you send back the isee et get your money back ? I think it's a little bit expensive (30euros) for a small bit of plastic (lol).

There are certain compatible mics for the 2nd Generation iPod. When shopping for one, just make sure to look for the compatibility for the 2nd generation iPod. I provided one option below.

Ipod nano 1st & 2nd not recognised on PowerBook

i'm sure something like this post is here somewhere. but there are just too many to read through.
here is my dilemma.
i have just bought an ipod nano 1st gen & a 2nd gen. both work fine on my work computer (brand new MacBook). but when i plug them into my personal PowerBook G4, they are not recognised. my PB is running osx 10.4 and my itunes is up-to-date (exactly the same version as my MB.
i have tried both USB ports and nothing. it looks like its charging, but thats it. the screen with "do not disconnect" does not appear.
any ideas anyone?
i even tried them both on an old ibook - they work just fine.

i have tried restarting - no luck. i have tried different cable - no luck.
i plugged in a high-speed thumb drive, this worked. i opened system profiler and my usb saw that it was a high speed device.
my computer seems to be refusing to see ipods as an attached device, whilst other computers have no problems.
why is it refusing too see ipods????? i'm at a loss.

Ipod Nano won't charge or show in itunes

I bought a used nano, either 1st or 2nd generation, not sure. The usb charger that I use for iphone and ipod classic seems to work; it provides power to the nano. But the nano will not charge (batter dead?) and it does not show in itunes. I've gone through all the trouble-shooting steps, including putting it into disk mode, but it still will not show in itunes. Is it just dead or is there something I can do? I paid 50 cents at a garage sale so can't go too far wrong but it would be nice if I could get it to work. Thanks!

4Gen iPod Nano and Mercedes

Hi all,
Just got a new Mercedes with the new Media Interface in it. Also bought the cables for it allowing iPod, USB stick or AUX. Also just got a new 16GB 4Gen iPod Nano to replace my 2nd Gen 8GB Nano.
Imagine my disspointment when connecting the 4G to find that it plays but does not charge. The 2G is fine of course.
Now, I dug around and found the problem - Apple chaning their 12V Firewire and 5V USB conenctions for charging. Problem is that Merc (depsite is being a simple cable change) are not gonna rectify it and I am **** sure Apple can't either.
So, anyone know of an in-line adapter that'll keep all the audio etc conections in-line but make provision for the missing 5V? Figure it has to be failry simple to hijack the 12V line...

Old Library New Ipod Nano

Hi Im about to purchase the new nano because my old (2nd generation) nano's battery died. I was told that i needed to download the software from the apple website and upload on my laptop. Just a little bit concerned that my old library wont recognise the new ipod. By the way i dont have internet connection so i will have to download and save the software to disc and then transfer to my computer. Will this work ok? The existing itunes i have hasnt been updated for about 2 years because i dont have internet at home.

You will need to update iTunes likely, especially if it is not even in the 7.x range of versions. Normally when you update your iTunes version, you entire library should remain intact and ready to use after the update.
You didn't mention if you use Windows or Mac but on Macs, you would also need to be running at least Tiger (10.4.x).

hello, i have the new nano. and i was wondering if it is possible to put games on it. are there games on itunes i can download and put onto my new ipod nano (i dont know what generation it is, it is the one that has the motion sensitivity and genius feature) i saw in the comercial that a car game was being used with the motion sensor. thanks.

do you know what that game was? (the one that uses the motion sensor feature) because though that post was very helpful, i was wondering if there are games that use the motion sensor feature.
