Ipod nano 4g stuck at apple boot logo

(copy paste from my apple stack exchange post, but I gotten no responses except a edit which removed "please help" from my post)
i have a iPod Nano 4th Generation (A1285) that I got used. When I first got it, it had low power, and it took a while to turn on, my iPod charger was broken at the time, so I couldn't charge it. Now, I'm trying to restore it for music and movies, etc. It turned on once yesterday when I tried fixing it, it was on briefly before I restored it. It took a while to turn on, I have no idea how I did it. Right now iTunes is going on and off, we've tried Disk mode, recovery mode and diagnostic mode. I've restored it around 7 times in Disk and recovery mode. Currently, I think it's dead. iTunes shows a 2005 error, ipod cannot be identified. Now, I just put it in recovery mode and restored it, again. Stuck at apple logo. Now it's still at the apple logo. just, waiting.... Alright, we put it in DISK MODE and restored it. restore took longer than usual. still apple logo. More info: When i got it used, and it was in itunes before i restored it for the first time, it said format macintosh, and i'm on windows 8 so I restored it .

  • Gen. 2 iPod Touch is stuck on Apple Boot Logo after Resetting Data/Settings

My iPod Touch hadn't been getting recognized by iTunes and my music wouldn't sync onto it so I went into the Settings app and clicked Reset Data & Settings (the 4 hour long reset) and waited while the bar slowly moved until it finally restarted and showed the Apple Boot Logo. I then waited for about 20-30 minutes for my iPod to turn on and it never did, so I reset it by holding the Power+Home button and that didn't do anything as it was still stuck on the Apple Boot Logo. Then I remembered I could have just put my iPod into DFU or Recovery mode to get iTunes to recognize it to reset it, so i tried to put my iPod into both modes and it wouldn't go into them. So I went to bed and just woke up and it's still stuck. I'm afraid I might have bricked my iPod, and I'm out of my warranty I believe. Does anyone know ANYTHING I could try? I don't care about data loss seeing as I already tried resetting the whole thing.

If it is still doing it after a restore, you most likely have a hardware issue.

  • How to make an ipod classic get off the apple boot logo when the menu an center button still don't work

i tryed to connect my ipod classic to my computer an every time i do it will start flikering an when i conected it to a wall plug it just get stuck on the boot logo it had the the red x but i fix that but now its just stuck on the boot logo i need my ipod please tell me what i need to do pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeee

The big Red X is a sign of iPod undertaker coming, so you only have temporary extension and put it in Comatose state.
Some laptops have only one high power USB 2.0 port, so if it flickers, try the others on your laptop.
However try the following, (bear with me if you have done all these.)
Toggle the hold switch, make sure you don't see the red marking.
Press Menu and Center butoons for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then release the buttons.
If the above solve the frozen Apple Logo, then do a Disk Diagnostics, read this earlier post from tt2.

Don't worry if yours is Windows, the process apply to the iPod and not the PC.

  • Please Help stuck on apple boot logo

I am stucked at the apple boot logo and i can't disable filevalut to go in safe mode. When i've pressed cmd p r and went in utility disk it seems that i have free on the macintosh hd only 16.3 MB so i have to go in safe mode to delete some files and reboot the system. Anyone can help me?

I can't help, I'm afraid. My suggestion is that you re-post your message with a different title, including that you cannot get into Safe Mode. It would also be good to include the year and model (e.g., Mid-2010 MacBook Pro) so folks know more about what you are dealing with.
One thought I have is to replace your hard drive with a larger one, install your original OS X on that new HDD and arrange to access your current drive via USB so you can get the files off of it.  But there may be another way -- though you clearly need a larger hard drive in your computer.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.

  • IPod nano 4G stuck on Apple bootscreen

    Hi,
i got a used iPod nano 4th generation as a present. But there's a problem with it: When starting it, it is stuck on the bootscreen with the Apple logo. Menu won't start. If i set it to disk mode it works perfectly. iTunes discovers the ipod, I can sync it, rename it, reset it, do everthing what is meant to work.
But when i restart it, it still stucks on the bootscreen.
I tried on Mac (10.6.2) and PC (Win7). Everywhere the same. I tried to let the battery get empty and reload it - the same problem. I did a proper reset (hold button on/off + 10 sec of pushing menu+enter) - the same problem.
I used diagnostics mode - everything seemed to work properly except the accellerometer (i don't know what the diagnostics normaly shows there).
Is ist a hardware or software problem? When shaking the ipod, something seems to be loose in the interior. But why does everything work fine in disk mode then?
I am looking forward to your help!
    Many thanks and best regards.

Any error messages? Did you try to restore it another PC or Mac?

  • IPod nano 3g stuck at apple logo

I bought an ipod today and it was really cheap and the seller told me that the only thing it do is show apple logo. As the seller was a elderly person i tought that maybe he did not tryed to restore it or even connect it to computer (ipod was only electrical thing he sold, other things was just antiques).
So i connected it to my mac and opened itunes, it did not recognize it and i tryed to hold down the menu and select keys, then it restarted and itunes told me to restore it, so i tryed but as soon as itunes completed the " preparing ipod to restore " it restarts again and same apple logo is visible.
Also sometimes i have to do like 5 restarts before itunes sees it. Also i tryed to enter the diagnostics mode and the disk mode but it did not work for me. I have no idea what software is on the ipod or does it even have working software on, maybe somebody just pulled the plug out when they updated it and now i have it. I hope somebody can help me.
    Thanks!

  • My iPod Nano is stuck on the Apple logo

My iPod Nano is stuck on the Apple logo. I have reset and restored it multiple times to no avail. When I slide my finger of the scroll wheel I can hear the clicking meaning that it's actually navigating the menus behind that logo, it even plays music. It can enter disk mode and diagnostic mode fine as well. I can't turn it of though, it just get a little darker when the Play button is held. It's a 5G Nano.
What can I do to fix this?

If you have an Apple Store, near you, make an appointment to take it to them. If it's not a hardware failure, they may be able to help.
    Regards.

  • My iPod Touch turns on, then gets stuck at the boot logo?

Ok, so i had my iPod Touch 4G since June of 2011. It is currently running iOS 5 and I have never had a problem. I got on the bus this afternoon after school and I tried to turn it on. It would boot, then get stuck at the Apple boot logo. This iPod has never taken damage by anything. If the iPod would be broken (physically), so would my phone, since they are in the exact same spot. I have plugged it into my iHome to charge it, but this morning, the battery was 94%. It was off all day, so the battery wouldn't be dead. Please help, as I had this iPod for the longest time.
P.S. I also tried Lock+Home to reset, and iTunes will not read it.

In my post, it said iTunes will not read it. But I tried to hold the home button.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hi my friend gave me his old Iphone 1 today and its stuck in the apple boot logo. Sometimes it automatically shuts off but about a second later it comes back on. The home button and the power button seem to not be responsive. Im hoping to restore it.. Thx

Hi my friend gave me his iphone 1 today and its stuck at the apple boot logo. Some times it automatically shuts off but about a second later is comes back on. The home button and the power button seem to not be responsive. Thanks for the help.

You bought a used iPhone. Amazon is not an authorized supplier of iPhones, nor are any of the 3rd parties that sell iPhones there.
You can make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.
If you are very very lucky, it is still under warranty and it wasn't opened or otherwise tampered with before you bought it. In which case, Apple will replace it under warranty.
If it's not under warranty, they will replace it for $199.
If it has been opened or tampered with, they won't touch it.

But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.
