Ipod nano 5th is unrecognized and rejected after downloading new itunes on Windows 8. Everything works on both- can use ipod and charge, but no recognition, no sync. Whassup? Did something get lost in the itunes update?

I'm having the same problem. I wish someone could respond with a solution for this! I've paid money for new songs and can't listen to them because of this! WTH APPLE?!?!?!?!

Download new itunes update and now it wont let me sync. Keeps saying I need 26gb of free space which it didn't say before I downloaded the update. It doesn't make sense. It keeps saying:
The iPod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library. (additional 26gb required)
This makes no sense because before the new itunes update there was no problem with me not having enough space. I have 5gb of free space now and I had 5gb of free space before I downloaded the itunes update. Nothing should've changed. And I should not need an extra 26gb of space. How do i fix this problem so I can my ipod normally again.

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Anyone having problems downloading new iTunes update?

After trying to download the new iTunes update received an error notice that said iTunes was not installed properly and I needed to re-install.
I cannot even access the iTunes program.

Hopefully you will be able to avoid upgrading, this freeze issue you're having might be a good thing if it means that os6 has failed to be installed. os6 is not looking good. I didn't read the reviews before I accepted the "up" grade. Now it seems it's too late. Hope you can get your answer and can use this stalled "up" grade to revert to os5!

IPod wont sync to laptop after installing newer itunes update

I installed an itunes update and after restarting my computer it would not sync at all. Also when plugged into my computer it no longer showed up as "Jims iPod" but just "Apple iPod" under devices where i cannot edit it in anyway. I uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it then getting the message " iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because of a newer version of iTunes" i did some tinkering (renamed itunes library as library.itl" and iTunes was able to open again however still couldnt sync. WHAT DO I DO? I have tried everything and its not appearing in iTunes at all.

I haven't been able to access the iTunes store for almost a year, having been knocked out after downloading an iTunes update. With the most recent update, I can no longer access radio broadcasts as well.

To solve the iTunes store problem, I have tried the suggestions suggested by Apple on the website to no avail. Since downloading the last iTunes update, I can no longer access radio broadcasts. It tries to connect to tuning service, but the refreshing catagory list notice never stops and connection is never made. No store connection and no classical radio connection--What will I loose with the next update? I'm not a computer person and don'y know what to do! Help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

CONNECTION CUT OFF MINUTES AFTER DOWNLOADING NEW ITUNES

After downloading the "new and improved" download for Itunes, my connection was lost. I tried to reopen my connection many many times. Verizon Broadband didn't have any issues. My mother's computer worked fine--she still had access. I think something about the Itunes doesn't like my wireless router, or vice-versa. I had to delete the new Itunes program, and now I can get online again! I DON'T LIKE THIS NEW ITUNES! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED HERE????????

Ok delete ichat and re-install.
Put in your install disk 1(the disk that came with your mac) then after the disk has opened double click on "Optional installs" then double click on the "Optional installs.mpkg".
Then when you get to "Custom install......." click on the triangle by appications and then tick iChat and then continue with the install.
When done download and install the 10.5.5 combo to bring iChat back up to date.

After downloading new Itunes warning from I Tunes assistan about drivers

After updating to the new itunes all of a sudden my itunes assistant says; "Warning! The registry used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cd's and dvd's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software please reinstall itunes."
I do this reinstall and the same thing pops up. I have NOT isnatlled any other music burning software. Why does this keep happening, any solutions?

I finally got everything reloaded. It was a trial and error process without a logical sequence or specific way of retracing the logic of how I did it. Some pointers from my experience (which could be unique to me).
1. use only the previous updater.
2. when updating the i-pod, make sure that you stop the process before all of the songs on i-tunes download. (I created some dummy songs at the end so as to get all the songs I wanted on the i-pod.) For some reason, if I let the updater run through all the songs, NOTHING showed up on the i-pod... it erased all of them.
3. be prepared to do this over and over again until you get the i-pod back up to speed. I can't tell you how many times I thought I "had it fixed" only to discover that the update left no songs on the i-pod.
Good luck with this. It really is absurd.

If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I found a 16 GB Touch streamside in AK. The device survived the elements and charged but is password protected. If I could I would contact the owner but there is no related resource through Apple to do so. Suggestions? or trash?

Apple's solution is to contact the local police..lame at best. They want $30 dollars for me to talk to them. I would have liked to give them the SN and have them contact the person via email with my email address so we could make contact. I am not paying $30 to perform this good deed.

Hello crawford1968, your efforts are appreciated! Was there any physical or water damage on the phone? The factory reset is the last resort option. Have you tried letting the phone's battery drain and then charge the device to see if the power on will respond? We can definitely look into replacement options since the device is not responding.
