  • Ipod nano 6th gen not recognized by itunes

I recently updated my version of itunes and now whenever I plug in my ipod nano 6th gen an error message pops up saying it doesn't recognize my ipod. Why odes this even happen?

For anyone else having this problem, I found this solution to work. Try this first:
    a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
        - disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
        - connect your USB device
        - if ITunes loads, close it.
    b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
    Select Install.  It's very quick.
    remove the USB device
    c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.
d)If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    f) If still not works, try re-install iTunes. Go into the Unstall Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstall everything that says Apple, and uninstall Bonjour. With the fresh install of iTunes, everything came back and is should work. Hope it helps.

  • Ipod nano 6th gen not recognized in itunes

I recently purchased a used "AS IS" ipod nano 6th gen. The only problem with it is that it's not recognized by iTunes. I was fairly sure on purchasing it that solving this would be as simple as resetting it, or, at worst, figure it out by googling the problem. The method involving holding down the sleep/wake button and volume down for 8 seconds until the apple logo appears didn't help. Putting it in disk mode didn't help. I have a mac and I suspect the original owner of the ipod may have used windows, so I tried both of these things again with my dad's PC. I at least got some response--an error message saying the usb device couldn't be read or something of that sort (I can look up the exact message again tomorrow if it's relevant).
I don't think it's the USB plug or cord, because both of these work with my iphone and another ipod nano in the household. I don't think it's itunes either, for the same reason. I'm running Lion, fully up-to-date, on a Macbook Pro. ITunes is also fully up-to-date.
I wouldn't be devastated if I can't fix it, since it still charges and plays music (the previous owner's hip-hop/club type music works pretty well for workouts), and it's probably not worth it to me to pay Apple to repair it. But…if anyone has any suggestions for things I can try to get it totally working, I'd love to hear them!

    solved it :-)
Apparently it's not enough to reinstall iTunes itself, but all mobile device software should be uninstalled, then your pc has to be rebooted and then iTunes has to be installed again.

  • Ipod nano 6th gen. not syncing with itunes match

After the new itunes 11 release I cannot sync my Ipod nano 6th generation with Itunes match without downloading all the songs I want to copy to my ipod to the computer first.
It is a little compersome to download 8Gb to my mac just for syncing and after sync delete them from my computer so that I just stream it again (airbook simply does not have enough space)

iTunes 11 won't even recognize my 1st and 3rd gen nanos. They've just rendered all the devices I love useless.
You can send feedback on the upgrade here:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html. I'm hoping enough legacy iPod users will speak up that they'll rethink and/or fix it.

  • Ipod nano 6th gen, not synching with itunes

My ipod is not showing up in itunes - it shows up in 'my comp' but not in itunes.  On my ipod screen it synchs for approx 5secs then stops and i get a box with 'an ipod has been detected but was not recognised'  i have tried all the suggestions on the site but no joy.  I live really far away from a store so travelling to a genius bar isn't really possible.  Anyone have any suggstions?  Also is it possible to restore the 6th gen - as i cannot synch to itunes?

    anyone?

  • Why won't my ipod nano 6th gen not show up on my iTunes or on my computer?

I have gone through all of the steps to make it work, but still no luck. What should I do? It has never done this before.

    Hi riciatay42,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below should help you with this:
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the USB Drivers are installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to remove iTunes and all of its components as outlined in this article:

I hope this information helps ....

  • My ipod nano 6th gen. is showing a blank screen

Same issue. Have tried connecting it iTunes to see if it's recognising it for restore?

  • Ipod Nano 6th gen not syncing mp3s after itunes 11.1.4.62 update

As the title says, after updating itunes to the 11.1.4.62 update, and everything that doing that successfully involved such as completely uninstalling all Apple software and then reinstalling itunes, my ipod nano 6th gen will not allow itunes to sync any mp3 files to it. The only way to get any new files onto it is to let the ipod convert them into AAC files when you transfer, even though all other music files on the ipod are, and have always been, mp3 files. Everything worked fine before the latest itunes update, I could sync mp3 files to the ipod nano with no problems.
Anyone know of a solution to this issue, or whether Apple are working on a solution for this obviously botched itunes update?
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPod Nano 6th Gen not syncing and prompted to re-install iTunes

my iPod Nano 6th Gen connects on my computer but not recognized by iTunes. I have already tried reinstalling the software as prompted by it but nothing happens

iTunes 11 won't even recognize my 1st and 3rd gen nanos. They've just rendered all the devices I love useless.

Have you gone into Tones tab to check the box SYNC TONES?  Is your ringtone less than 40secs?

  • Ipod nano 3rd Gen not recognized by itunes or windows 7

    USB device not recognized.
    things I have done
put Ipod in disk mode still didn't recognized
My Ipod Classic 6th Gen works fine
It shows 3 Mass Storage Device
when I plug in Ipod nano 3rd gen it shows unknow device
have deleted Mass storage devices and Apple Moble Devices
    unpluged computer from wall
    nothing solving problem
I also tried it on my laptop its not being recognized
my wife Ipod nano is doing the same thing as mine
its got to be the software download from itunes because it has worked on all previous versions.

I have the same problem. My Iphone 4s works fine when docked to PC. PC won't recognize my 3rd Gen Nano. Same goes for my Work PC. They don't recognize it nor will plugging it in to a PC charge it. I have to plug it into wall socket to charge.
I have tried resetting, I have tried downloading newest Itunes.
Must be the Nano itself if it doesn't get recognized by mutliple PCs?
I haven't used the Nano for probably 2 months. Previously it worked fine...
One thing, when docked to my laptop during a reboot/startup, it intially starts to charge the Nano, but once setup is finished it doesn't recognize it any longer...

  • IPod nano (4th gen) not recognized by iTunes 11.1.3

I have an iPod nano (4th gen). After upgarding iTunes to v 11.1.3 (MacBook Pro) I get the follwoing message:
iTunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod.
Unfortunately, I restored to factory settings, which erased everything, but each time I connect the iPod I get the same message.
It must be an issue with compatibility because I get the same message with my wife's iPod (same gen), but hers syncs just fine on her iTunes (v 10), and I get the same message using two different USB cables.
So now my iPod is essentially empty (factory settings) and as good as a paperweight unless there is a way to get iTunes to recognize and sync. If I could get past the error message, I suspect it would be easy to sync automatically or manually.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi JMfromMN,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If your iPod isn't recognized by your computer, this article may help:

Since your wife's iPod displays the same behavior omn your computer, it sounds like the troubleshooting for the iPod itself (which you've largely already done anyway) can be skipped.

  • Moving music from ipod nano 6th gen to a new itunes llibrary

I have an ipod nano 6th gen that was originally synced to a laptop which has broken. all the music is gone but is still on my ipod. how can i transfer this music to my new laptop? is there any free/trustworthy programs available or are there settings that i must set my itunes library to? Please help, this will benefit many of my family members.

Open the ipod_control folder then open the music folder. Copy each one of those folders onto your computer. You can do this by creating a new folder on your desktop and dragging the files into the folder.Open itunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: library ---> Music
You can now sync your ipod to this new computer with out losing all of your music.

  • IPod Nano 6th gen not syncing despite reset

My Dad's iPod Nano 6th generation is not syncing with iTunes. He used it first with iTunes on a MacMini G4 and – with later versions of iTunes – ran into trouble while syncing. Now he owns a Mac Mini mid 2010 with a brand new installation of Mavericks on an erased and reformatted harddrive.
Software's all up-to-date but the iPod still does not sync. It's being recognized and being found spotless by the harddrive tool. iTunes will just show it in the sidebar with no further info on the content of the iPod being displayed except the colored bar at the bottom indicating 430+ songs on the thing. No copying manually is working.
Switching syncing options to manual and back do not help either, nor does a restart (of either iTunes or the Mac).
I have reset the iPod but the result in iTunes is now that there is a welcome screen with button «more». As soon as I click that the iPod disappears from the sidebar – with no further action or option.
I'd be glad to get any help here!

Figured out the solution: I quit iTunes, dragged the "com.apple.iTunes.plist" file (located in Library –> Preferences) to the desktop and reopened iTunes. After confirming the t&c pop-up I plugged in the iPod and it's window appeared again in full, letting me sync contents once again.
