IPod nano 6th gen will not charge or sync

iPod nano with neither charge or sync.  I have reset and run through all the troubleshooting suggestions.  I have used different cables, power blocks, tried plugging into both USB ports on computer.  All software is up to date.
Nano will play and everything operates but power is diminishing.
Any suggestions I have not thought of?

Just tried again after an hour and the situation seems to have resolved.

My ipod nano 6th gen will not sync. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes; I have reset the nano; I have used a different USB port and connector; I have rebooted my computer. Any suggestions?

I just did the same. Spent at least two hours trying different actions. Then uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. Also used a different USB port, etc. Also rebooted computer.   No option for syncing is showing up on Itunes and when I run diagnostics it says there is no device detected- yet it is plugged into a USB port and the screen on the Nano says connected. If the solutions found in the article iPod not recognized in 'My Computer and in iTunes for Windows, take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • IPod Nano (6th gen) will not sync.

Okay, I have an iPod Nano (6th generation) that won't sync. I've reset the iPod many times, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, done all the suggestions given by the troubleshooting assistant, and still nothing. When I plug it in, it turns on and begins charging, but the computer doesn't do anything. It doesn't make a little sound, it doesn't say it recognized a device. It just does nothing. I'm not in a serious rush to fix this, but I recently got some new podcasts that I REALLY want to sync on there. Does anybody have suggestions? I seriously need help.

  • IPod Touch 4th gen will not charge, or sync to iTunes

Hello, I have a 2 year old iPod 4th gen 32 gb.  About a week ago a realized that when a charged it the charging screen did not appear.  I made no big deal about it since it still charged, but then I tried to connect it to my cpu to see if anything changed, nothing did (it also cannot connect to iTunes to my cpu but can connect to the app just fine).  So I went on with it but recently it stopped charging all together.  I'd power it down at night and turn it on in the morning and didn't charge at all past 20% So I powered it down and this image came up.Yes, I have seen this image before but when I plugged it in and got the  charging screen after it died.  But now it cannot get past this screen I left it plugged in all day and it doesn't do anything else.  I can reset it after 10 minutes to wake it up but it dies again almost right away now normally i would just toss this away, since how old it is but I'm getting an iPhone soon and I want to be able to transfer everything over, to the iPhone but it keeps dying before i can do anything.  And I would like to fix it so I could sell it for some cash.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen will not charge

ive had my ipod for a while now, but now it wont charge. Iveleft it plugged into the wall overnight, but it still wont turn on. I tried the computerbefore it died, but allit said was plug into power. A few weeks ago the computer stopped recognizing it, but I already fixed it.

Bring it to a local Apple store. If it is a battery issue, they should replace it under the one year warranty.

    Hi meganisawsome,
If your iPod will not turn on and you are getting indicators that there is no battery left, the first step would be to make sure that the iPod has been charged correctly. You may find the following article useful:

  • My ipod nano 6th generation will not turn on.

My iPod nano (6th generation) will not turn on. I have charged it (attached to my computer) for 30 minutes. I have tried to reset it (held down Wake and Volume Down for 8 seconds)- no response. I have factory restored it (through iTunes)- no response. It shows up as connected to my computer and will sync in iTunes, but the display on the iPod will not turn on. Any ideas?

    Hey s.mccarter2010,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you have tried a lot of things and the iPod still will not turn on. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPod won't turn on
If you have tried the solutions above and iPod still won't turn on, check the following:
Make sure iPod is the only device in your FireWire or USB chain. Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard, and your iPod, then see if it will turn on.
Make sure you are using the FireWire or USB cable that came with your iPod, and that the cable is in good condition.
Try connecting iPod to the built-in port of a different computer to see if that works. Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged in to a power source and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge properly.
If you still can't turn iPod on after performing these steps, it may need to be repaired. You can arrange for repair at the iPod Service Website.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

My ipod nano 7th gen. will not advance to the next song, it will keep playing the current song until manually changed. All updates are current.

I had this issue with my 6th generation nano.  It was driving me nuts, until I realized that somehow locked the repeat button on. Selecting one song rather than a selection will cause whatever song you have selected to play over and over and over and over..

Then it's time to call Apple tech support while you are still under warranty.  Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • Any ideas why my ipod nano 6th gen is not working with Sony SRSGU10IP docking station pls

any ideas why my ipod nano 6th gen is not working with Sony SRSGU10IP docking station please ? classic working fine, so not the fault of the station itself ? it's been bought as a present for my father & he's confused !

Check the headphone jack with a flashlight and clean it if necessary. The jack on a new Nano is very tight, be sure you push the headset jack all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the Nano.

  • My ipod nano (5 generation) will not charge.

My ipod nano (5 generation) will not charge. Sometimes, if I connect it to the computer, turns on and appears on the screen a battery. Other times I connect it, and will not turn on anything. If you load it, I can use it, but if I turn off the ipod, after does not turn on. I tried to reload it with an outlet to the current, but does not turn on. Can I fix it? How much does it cost?

    You need a new battery.

  • My ipod nano 6th gen will only turn on when plugged into a power source.

My ipod nano 6th gen ONLY turns on when it is plugged into a power source. As soon as I unplug it, it turns off. I also tried to reset it and it did not help. Any suggestions?

    Howdy mela1223,
If I understand correctly your iPod will not stay on unless you have the charger plugged in even after resetting it. Normally this would indicate a hardware issue that would need a repair but to cover all the bases before that, the last troubleshooting that can be done for it would be to restore it with iTunes on a computer.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling
