Ipod nano 6th generation wont connect to computer or itunes, but still charges

I have an Ipod nano 6 that will not connect to my computer. It still charges however. I tried a new cord. I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. I reset my computer and the ipod. I looked to see if it was a problem with my usb drivers and the ipod did not show up. I have basically tried everything but restoring it. Any help is greatly appreciated

  • TA44551 Apple ipod nano 6th generation wont charge on pC, mains or car.

My ipod nano 6th generation wont charge, either through mains, car or computer USB charger.  Had it one month, bought it from Amazon.  Just dead, wont wake up.  When it had charge tried master reset etc. still not able to charge or recognised/charge on PC

It'll need to charge for a while before it will turn on. Leave it to charge for a couple of hours, then try again.

  • I have an iPod nano 6th generation and I downloaded 3 music videos but they won't play on my iPod. They only play on my laptop/iTunes. How can I get it to work?

I have an iPod nano 6th generation and I downloaded 3 music videos but they won't play on my iPod. They only play on my laptop/iTunes. How can I get it to work? I know that my iPod should take music videos because there is a pre-made playlist called "Music videos". Can anyone help me please????

You can sync the music videos, but they won't play on your 6G Nano, because it does not support video playback. Sorry.

  • Ipod Nano 7th generation not recognized by computer or iTunes

Neither my computer nor ITunes recognizes my Ipod nano 7th generation. It was working fine until I ran an intensive AVG PC tuneup on the laptop. Device manager recognizes the Ipod and says it is working correctly. I have done all suggested troubleshooting and nothing has yet worked. Additional suggestions or info I should provide?

  • Doesn't appear in My Computer or iTunes but still charges?

About six months ago I purchased a 4GB iPod Nano (3rd Generation). It has worked for me perfectly until the past week.
I hook my USB cable up, plug in my iPod, and it dings multiple times instead of just once like it used too. It is no longer showing up in iTunes or My Computer, although it does charge.
I first thought it to be a faulty cable, so I borrowed my friends, same thing happened.
I then thought a faulty port, so I tried my three other ports and still nothing.
I think there may be something wrong with my iPod because I hooked up my cousin's iPod up with my cable and it worked perfectly fine, it showed up in My Computer and iTunes, unlike my iPod.
Any suggestions, tutorials, just anything would be greatly appreciated!

    Ok.
Try connecting the iPod to the computer, and then when the iPod shows "Do Not Disconnect", reset the iPod while it is connected to the computer...
    Reset iPod
Leave it connected while it boots up and then see if Windows recognizes it. See if that does the trick.
Also, make sure you've gone through these steps...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493
Finally, try reinstalling iTunes (and restarting your computer after)...

When it installs, make sure there aren't any funny error messages or anything like that.

  • My iPod nano 6th gen is not recognised by my computer or itunes, but still charges?

My laptop recently came back from repairs and  wiped everything off of it, so I have had to reinstall everything again. The only way I have got my music is on my ipod, so I cant lose any of the music stored on the ipod.
I have tried everything to connect it to my laptop, but it just wont connect.
I have followed all instructions from other people who have had the same problem, but nothing works. I have tried uninstalling itunes, where I delete everything and reinstall it. I have tried uninstalling all my usb ports and reinstalling them. I have tried to download apple usb driver, but it didn't work. I have reset my ipod many times - but nothing works! My computer just wont show my ipod, but it still charges it.

And you have a tried a different USB cable to verify that the current cable is not faulty or damaged? If so, that points to a hardware issue with the Nano, likely its dock connector port. Look for signs of damaged/bent/corroded pins or debris that could be blocking a proper connection.

  • New ipod nano 4gen doesn't connect to computer, or itunes!!!

i just got a new ipod and when i connected it my computer said new software connected, and had "install" or "install later". i clicked install and it said software for download could not be found.
i thought because it wasn't fully charged yet, so i let it charge.
i disconnected it and tried again, the same thing happened.
i then went to "my computer" and it didn't show up there either. then i went to itunes and there it didn't say anything.
my sister has the older ipod nano and i used the same cord and it connected. so its not the cord, or itunes because hers shows up.
i then went to my aunts house and tried to install it there. it actually did show up on her computer, but it didn't fully register because her itunes won't connect to her internet access.
I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO NOW! PLEASE HELP ME!

Same problem. Mine just flashes the Apple logo when connected. I've tried all the suggested methods that you have aswell. NO warranty, what now? Any luck with you?

  • Why isn't my iPod Nano (7th Generation) not coming up on my itunes, but on my desktop?

My iPod usually is recognised on my iTunes, but for some reason isn't. My iPhone is being recognised, so i think it's my iPod thats the problem.

  • Ipod nano 3rd gen, when connected to computer works fine, but when disconnected it just dies.

today, i first thought that i had left my ipod on all night and my battery had just gone in the ipod, so plugged it in to my laptop to charge, but after a few hours, i ejected the ipod, no problems, but as soon as i unpluged it, it died. tryed plugging it in again but the same thing, plugged in it works fine but once its disconected it dies! im really worried about the music on it that i dont have in my itunes.
is there anyway to fix this, and also how do i back up my ipod, NOT my itunes?!

whoa, ok i tryed just there to restore it (menu, middle button) while it was plugged in, but now the little apple logo keeps comming up for about 5 seconds, turns off, and repeats... WHATS GOING ON?!?! have i wiped my ipod?!?!?!

Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.
