Ipod nano 7th gen cannot be detected by Itunes after restore

Following the recent death of my Macbook Pro (due graphic card problem) I've switched to my backup laptop and moved all my files to the windows 8.1 laptop. I knew that connecting my Ipod Nano (7th Generation) to the new laptop would result in losing all my playlist and music currently stored.
I needed to update my ipod's list with new things so I took the chance (innocently thinking that all I needed to do was just remake my playlists and re-sync it). Initially it started off well, but towards the later parts of restoring, iTunes gave an error saying that the restore could not be completed and led me to a thread on Apple Support. Following the steps, I disconnected my ipod and reconnected it. Nothing happened. Itunes did not recognize the ipod, and the ipod goes into a grey looking screen with a simple message that says okay to disconnect.
My question is, how am I suppose to restore my ipod, when itunes can't detect my ipod.
I've been struggling really badly with the loss of my Macbook Pro and now this. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance
Currently running on Windows 8.1 and iTunes version 11.4.0.18

Hello there, lycusfenriz.
It can definitely be frustrating when your having trouble with multiple devices at the same time, but the steps in the article below may help with getting your iPod recognized in iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great, in-depth recommendations for troubleshooting an iPod not being recognized in iTunes:
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4433
Connectivity/syncing
Follow these steps if your computer doesn't recognize your iPod or you have issues with syncing your iPod.
iPod not recognized by iTunes or computer
Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes software from www.itunes.com/downloads. Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Your computer needs a USB 2.0 port or a USB 3.0 port to connect iPod nano. If you have a Windows PC that doesn't have a USB 2.0 port, in some cases you can purchase and install a USB 2.0 card.
If iPod nano is connected to a USB hub, try connecting iPod nano directly to your computer's USB port.
iPod nano might need to be reset. Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear.
If you're connecting iPod nano to a portable computer using the Lightning Cable, connect the computer to a power outlet before connecting iPod nano.
Check the cable connections. Disconnect the cable at both ends and make sure no foreign objects are in the USB ports. Then reconnect the cable.
Try reinserting the Lightning connector into the iPod. The Lightning connector can be inserted either way.
Try restarting your computer.
If none of these steps resolves the issue, you might need to restore the iPod nano software.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.

  • IPod nano 7th generation screen frozen on "language" choice after "restore"

iPod nano 7th gen. was acting up so I went to iTunes to do a restore. Now the iPod"s start screen is frozen on the "language" choice screen, "done" button/icon does nothing. Holding the power and home button will bring up the same frozen screen.

    Hi Jeff,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below will walk you through the troubleshooting steps for your unresponsive iPod nano.  I understand you have already tried to restore, but follow the steps in the order presented and see if that makes a difference.  If not, I've included a link for getting it serviced.
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203681
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting it while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least six seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
The Five Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore
Try these steps one at a time until the issue is resolved. If one of the following doesn't help, read on for solutions to specific issues.
Reset iPod nano. First, make sure iPod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.
Restart your computer and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
    Download and reinstall iTunes.

    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.

I hope this information helps ....

  • My iPod Nano 7th generation is not detected in Itunes

    Hey there,
    I have a iPod Nano 7th generation and I'm working with a Windows 7 64-bit version.
So when I got my iPod, I installed iTunes and everything went very well..
but today I tried to sync my iPod and it is not even detected from my iTunes or my computer.
I had the error -42110, but I found the solution on here, but it didn't work either.
I went through a lot of questions on here, but I couldn't find any solution for my problem
    Has anyone got any idea?

well actually I did connect my iPod 3 days later or so to my charger, because a friend of mine asked me if I'm sure that the cable is not broken. So I connected it and it charged, when I thought "Well let's try on the computer again". I plugged it in and it was detected again.. so uhm I don't really know why it did not worked the last times.
So maybe try to restart your computer and turn off an on again the device and try it later on again.. maybe it will work then:)
    I'm sorry I can't help more!

  • Ipod-nano-7th-gen-won't-synch-from-itunes-or icloud?

I have a Nano 7th generation. I am beside my self trying to get the music I buy in i tunes onto the Nano 7th gen--my iphone 4S automatically downloads all the music I buy via Wi Fi ( I also have an icloud account that has all my music in it)
But, No matter what I can not get the the music into the Nano.  I launch itunes, plug the Nano in, it shows up on the left side of the itunes store screen (sometimes)-- I have never been asked to register it-- and it never shows up with my authorized devices in the My account info section of itunes-- the Laptop I use  & the iphone show up-- but I can't figure out how to get the Nano to show up as a recognized, authorized device.
Why does Apple make it impossible to learn how to use the devices they make?
I have all my  music  on the i phone ( which is really NOT the quaity music player that the Nano is, I would like to listen to it on the Nano).
Is there any way I can move the music from my icloud into the Nano 7th generation?  I am completely at a loss, and don't know what to do or who to ask
Please, can someone help me?   Music is one of the only things I have in my life, and this is frustrating beyond belief to pay for music I can't listen to.
Thanks for any one s help

    Hey liznofears,
Connecting the iPod to iTunes and having it show up on the left is the first step. It sounds to me like you want your music to sync automatically whenever you connect your iPod - if so, follow these directions:
Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Click the button with your device's name, below the Spotlight window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select Sync Music. You can select "Include music videos" if you want to sync Music videos to your device.
Your device needs to have enough free space to sync the content that you selected from your library.
Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the device settings window to see how much free space is available. The window will update with an estimate as you select content.
Click Apply. iTunes will sync the content you selected to your device. The iTunes LCD will show the sync progress and notify you when the sync is complete.
To disconnect your device, find your device in iTunes and click the eject icon.

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo even after restore

okay, i have an ipod nano 4th gen. it gets stuck on the boot logo, (apple logo) every time it tries to restart. i have rebooted, gone into the diagnostics, put it into disk mode, and even restored from there. the computer doesnt recognize the ipod unless in disk mode and no matter how many times i restore or reboot, it does the same thing every time. stuck. please help

Since you have the "exact" same problem, why don't you do any of the following:
If you have AppleCare and/or still under warranty, give them a call.  If not, take your iPod to your local Apple Store or AASP.  Let them properly diagnose the problem and provide you w/a repair estimate.

Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • TS1369 My iPod nano 7th gen is not recognised by iTunes in windows 8.1

When I plug, it reads a message (I translate from spanish): an iPod has been detected but it can't be read correctly. Unplug and plug and try again. If it perstists reinstal iTunes and try again. I've done all of that. I plugged the iPod when iTunes wasn't installed and it worked fine as an external disk. The iPod's screen shows that it is plugged until iTunes fails to recognise and then it shows the messsage when you explulse the iPod.
    Any help may be useful.

Hi there  - I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
    1) iTunes
    2) Apple Software Update
    3) Apple Mobile Device Support
    4) Bonjour
    5) Apple Application Support
    Then you restart your computer.
Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled).
Then you restart your computer again.
Mine is working perfectly again now.
I hope it works for you,
    Carmen.

  • Ipod nano 4th gen stuck on apple logo (still) after restore

HELP! I tried to turn on my ipod the other day but it wouldn't work - it was stuck on the apple logo screen.
    I have tried:
    - resetting it
    - letting it run out of battery completely then turning it back on again
    - restoring it
but none of these methods worked. It is still stuck on the apple logo screen! So therefore I can't listen to music, and my laptops don't recognise my ipod... because it isn't on properly. The only way I can get laptops to recognise that my ipod is plugged in is by putting my ipod in disk mode.
and so it is still stuck on the apple logo screen. Anybody have any ideas? I have no idea what else to try.
    thanks so much in advance!

i have tried all of that as well and im still stuck on the apple logo. i hit it against a table and everything. Does anyone know what to do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!
