IPod Nano 7th Gen gets "unsupported" error message hen connecting to Bose player

Hi, i have an iPod Nano touch 7th gen and use a 30 pin adapter when connecting to my Bose docking station.  I also have an aftermarket adapter that plays through my car radio that I use too.  It has worked fine until recently.  I get the "Unsupported" accessory is not supported message that really makes no sense at all.  Having the typical disappointing experience with Apple support...Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync

iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync with official apple lightening cable.
It worked for almost a year then suddenly began to say that. My computer [windows], lightening cable and my power brick [all apple official] are all the same as they were when it was working. The iPod is almost a year old now, and has worked perfectly up until about a week ago.
I have tried resetting the iPod, plugging it into different charging sources but it keeps saying "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

Your iPod Nano firmware and iTunes updated to the current versions?
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

  • IPod Nano 7th gen - software update error and now not functioning

    Hello,
I recently plugged an older 7th gen iPod Nano that I hadn't used in a while into my computer (Windows 7 operating system) and iTunes wanted me to let it update its software. I said 'yes,' not really thining anything of it, and as the software update was taking place, an 'unexpected error' occurred. Now my iPod will not turn on or respond or anything. It shut off while plugged into the computer and has stayed off and I am unable to get it to turn back on. It is totally dead, like the failed update somehow ruined my iPod.
The iPod itself was a little damaged - the LCD touchscreen was nonfunctioning due to water damage, and only displayed a white screen when on, but I could still 'shake to shuffle' and it would play all of my music just fine. Now the iPod will not work at all.
Is there anything that can be done or am I just out of luck here? Did the fact that the iPod was damaged have something to do with the failed update?
I'm kind of bummed 'cause the iPod still played my music perfectly....
Thanks for any help or insights anybody can give.

I should add 2 important points: 1) I have no trouble syncing with my PC, just in updating the nano software, and (2) Buried in some Apple reference I found mention of problems if the nano isn't formatted for a PC vs. Mac. It gives info on how to tell what the format is, but it's outdated (the menu choices are different). I believe it is already formatted for a PC because of an entry under Settings/About which says the Version is "1.0 PC". Tell me if I'm wrong. Also, it would help me if I knew the destination of the software download. Does it download directly to the Nano or to a temporary folder on my PC?

  • Am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen. i get this message: not enough access privileges."

i am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen with my music on the cloud, via a desktop PC.
I have successfully done this in the past.
now I am getting a series of messages: "not enough access privileges"
have reset the nano and also downloaded latest iTunes software.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem, so I was excited to see the link above. But when I click on it, it redirects me to the nike.com main website (I'm assuming Nike redid their website since the above link was posted). Could you please point me to that article somewhere else or tell me how you fixed your problem?
My exact problem is this: I was running until recently with my iPod Nano 6th gen and the Nike+ sensor kit (sensor that goes in the Nike+ shoe plus receiver that goes in the iPod Nano). When I would sync my Nano with iTunes (I would have the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option checked), all was well with this set-up as far as syncing my stuff to the Nike+ website goes.
I recently realized that for the iPod Nano 6th generation, the sensor/receiver combo is not required anymore. So I ran two runs without the receiver. I kept the sensor in the shoe though as nowadays I mostly run with my recently purchased Nike+ Sport GPS watch and I like to have the sensor in the shoe in case the GPS signal gets lost at some point during a run. Anyway, those two runs that I ran without the receiver won't sync to my nikeplus account. I can see them in my iPod Nano's history and I can see one of them (the latest one) on the Nike + iPod tab of iTunes when I sync my Nano. The difference though is that on iTunes this latest run appears under a "Sensor 1" selection, whereas all my previous runs with both the sensor and receiver would be under "Nike + Sensor" selection. Within the "Nike + Sensor" selection, under nikeplus.com, there's the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option and below it a Login ID that shows my Nike+ website log-in info. Within the "Sensor 1" selection, the Login ID is missing. I've tried renaming "Sensor 1" to something else but it didn't make the Login ID appear.
Thank you for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best,
    Dimitris.

  • I got a new iPod nano 7th gen., but when I tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Some of the videos in your iTunes library cannot be copied to your iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod.

I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?

I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!

When I connect my iPod nano 7th gen. to my computer and open itunes, there is a message that says the iPod could not be detected. Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Gen

Hi Can anyone help, Just got the Ipod Nano 7th Gen for christmas and when connecting to itunes it states that there is an update to 1.0.3, when I follow the instructions to update, it starts downloading and near the end I get an error and it does not finish any ideas?

    What is the error message?
I'm going to guess you are updating on a Windows computer. The error is probably due to your antivirus/antispyware software. Temporarily disable ALL of it and try again.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation - Not Charging / Error Msg From Comp 'Attached Device Malfunctioned'

My IPod Nano 7th gen arrived last night.  I was able to turn it on and select language 'english'  When I connected it to my computer it did not recognize my iPod, so it also did not show up in iTunes,  Error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.  and Windows does not recognize it."
My Nano turned off and went blank.   I have tried to reset it.  Nothing works, just blank.
No charge icon, I have tried all USB ports on my comp, but nothing works- (but my USB ports work fine)  I have read that if my iPod has not been charged fully, the computer my not recognize it.
I am now using an adapter and trying to charge it thru the wall power socket.  It has been connected for half an hour.  Still cannot turn iPod on.
I have Windows 7 running on comp.  Itunes is current version 10.7.  I have rebooted my comp several times and re-installed iTunes.
I have an iPhone and an iPod shuffle that are both synced with iTunes on this comp, they work fine.
Is my iPod broken?  Do I send it back?  Anyone else having the same problems?  Please Help !!

I had this problem as well.  I have a PC running Windows 7. I have installed the latest iTunes 10.7 software (64 bit). I reset the nano by holding down the start and home button for 10 seconds.  Then - I plugged it into a PC running Windows XP and was able to format the iPod. Ejected it and plugged it into my Windows 7 computer and then the computer recognized it and I was able to load it. There is some problem with iTunes 7 on Windows 7.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen stuck on apple logo screen

New iPod nano 7th gen.  At first attempt to upload songs, was prompted to update software.  So, software was updated and as I was installing software update to the iPod, I got a message stating that the iPod was in the process of a restore (I think this is what it said.  I didn't pay a whole lot of attention as i was not expecting any problems).  I continued with the restore because nothing had been uploaded to the iPod yet so nothing would be lost.  At this point, the device has been stuck on the apple logo screen for a couple of hours now.  The only response I can get from it is when I do a reset.  The screen will black as it should and then go right back to the logo and stay.  Please help.....Son not happy as this was one of his Christmas presents this morning.  Really not looking forward to a trip to the apple store on the day after Christmas.

I am afraid yo need to visit the store and possibly ask for a replacement. In some cases, doing the reset will correct any issues, but by the way you describe it, it freezes with apple logo. Better to get a replacement.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen not turning on or connecting to laptop??

My son's ipod nano 7th gen won't turn on and when I connect it to the lap top a message comes up saying device driver not recognised - he was listening to it just last night, can anyone help? He's only had it since his birthday in November.

I reset the ipod by holding down the power button and the menu button and the apple screen came up after a few moments - this seems to have done the trick!

  • IPod nano 7th gen (brand new) doesn't recognize Headphones

I have a brand new iPod nano (7th gen), and it doesn't detect when headphones are plugged in. I have read that the problem can ocurr because the headphones are not correctly inserted or that the headphone jack has dust inside. As i always do on a regular basis with mp3 devices, i cleaned out the jack to be sure
    This is what happens:
When music is not playing i hear a crackle pop sound every 2 seconds or so. My headphones are perfectly fine and work with my Samsung galaxy s4 and my old iPod touch, and my brothers iPhone. Just don't work with iPod nano. I have 3 pairs of headphones all which do not work but I do not have the original headphones. they are so uncomfortable and seems unfair to me that apple would have a one size fits al headphone that only works with the device. I do not intend on switching.
When I play a song, and then press the sleep/wake button to turn off the display, the music stops. Or if I let the music play, it stops when the screen times out and turns off. These two things occur because the iPod "thinks" that there are no headphones inserted.
When I try to activate the FM radio, the radio won't start because it says that there is no radio signal (which occurs when no headphones are connected).
Needless to say, the microphone and volume controls of the iPhone headset, don´t work at all (they even work on the iPod shuffle!).. and because of this, no voice recording for me!
I have also restored the device in iTunes, and updated with no luck.....
Thanks in advance for any useful answer!
    iPod nano

First, make sure the headphones plug is completely inserted into the nano's headphones jack.  It should "click" into place.  The fit may be tighter than expected, especially when new.  There is a sensor in there, and if the plug is not completely inserted, you may get some sound, but the nano will not "sense" the headphones.
If that is not the problem, you should have the nano looked at under warranty.  It should work with any standard headphones. If there is an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there.

  • IPod nano 7th Gen. occasionally reboots

I've bought myself an iPod nano 7th Gen. about two weeks ago. I updated the firmware to 1.0.2 and synched some playlists on it. During the first two days my iPod nano shut down and rebooted itself about 10 times, no exaggeration. I went to my Apple Premium Reseller, turned it in and got a new one a few days later. I'm using that one for about a week now and I still got the same problems:
It happens when I wake the display up and music is playing. I hit the lock button, the music stops, the screen turns on and shows the Apple logo and then a few moments later the greyed-out homescreen with a spinner. Sometimes it shows the home screen directly and a spinner when I tap on the Music "app".
In some occasions I first hit the home button, the music kept playing and the screen stayed off, then I hit the lock button and my iPod reacted as described above.
Since two days, I observe another error which occurs often when editing a playlist or creating a new one, but also on wake up like above: The music stops, for about half a second a weird sound plays over the earbuds and then the iPod shuts down and I have to manually turn it on again (tap and hold on lock button).
I'm writing this now because I listened to music the whole day today and nearly everytime I took the iPod out of my pocket it rebooted like described above. I suspect that this is a software problem, so please, Apple, do something! These bugs make it really annoying for me to use my nano for what an iPod is for: listening to music.
Some further information: In iTunes, I checked the "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" option and filled the iPod nano with about 12 GB of music. I listen to music only with the Apple earbuds, no bluetooth headsets or car dock stations. For selecting songs, I mainly use playlists.

Okay, I tried unchecking "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128 kbps AAC" and this seems to solve the problem. Of course this is not satisfying because I can't fit all of my music on it anymore; but at least I can listen to it.
I still hope that someone at Apple reads this and tells me how to really fix that. For me, this experience is like buying a car that breaks down every 500 meters. An iPod nano that can't play back music without interruption is embarrassing!

  • IPod Nano 7th gen wont turn on after a restore

I tried holding down the top and middle buttons and it wont work, this is a replacement one for an iPod Nano 7th gen with corrupted software, could it be the same problem?
During the restore it says it's restored and not to disconnect my iPod but then can't seem to find it so it repeats the restore again and again
Starting to get really annoyed with it now
