IPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync

iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported" when trying to charge / sync with official apple lightening cable.
It worked for almost a year then suddenly began to say that. My computer [windows], lightening cable and my power brick [all apple official] are all the same as they were when it was working. The iPod is almost a year old now, and has worked perfectly up until about a week ago.
I have tried resetting the iPod, plugging it into different charging sources but it keeps saying "Unsupported. Accessory is not supported"
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks.

Your iPod Nano firmware and iTunes updated to the current versions?
It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

Have you checker the connectors on both the transmitter and Nano for any signs of damaged, corroded pins?  It might help to take a can of compressed air to each.  The error message may be simply a result of the iPod Nano not getting a full connection with the transmitter at first.

  • IPod Nano 7th Gen gets "unsupported" error message hen connecting to Bose player

Hi, i have an iPod Nano touch 7th gen and use a 30 pin adapter when connecting to my Bose docking station.  I also have an aftermarket adapter that plays through my car radio that I use too.  It has worked fine until recently.  I get the "Unsupported" accessory is not supported message that really makes no sense at all.  Having the typical disappointing experience with Apple support...Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

  • Am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen. i get this message: not enough access privileges."

i am trying to sync my ipod nano 7th gen with my music on the cloud, via a desktop PC.
I have successfully done this in the past.
now I am getting a series of messages: "not enough access privileges"
have reset the nano and also downloaded latest iTunes software.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem, so I was excited to see the link above. But when I click on it, it redirects me to the nike.com main website (I'm assuming Nike redid their website since the above link was posted). Could you please point me to that article somewhere else or tell me how you fixed your problem?
My exact problem is this: I was running until recently with my iPod Nano 6th gen and the Nike+ sensor kit (sensor that goes in the Nike+ shoe plus receiver that goes in the iPod Nano). When I would sync my Nano with iTunes (I would have the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option checked), all was well with this set-up as far as syncing my stuff to the Nike+ website goes.
I recently realized that for the iPod Nano 6th generation, the sensor/receiver combo is not required anymore. So I ran two runs without the receiver. I kept the sensor in the shoe though as nowadays I mostly run with my recently purchased Nike+ Sport GPS watch and I like to have the sensor in the shoe in case the GPS signal gets lost at some point during a run. Anyway, those two runs that I ran without the receiver won't sync to my nikeplus account. I can see them in my iPod Nano's history and I can see one of them (the latest one) on the Nike + iPod tab of iTunes when I sync my Nano. The difference though is that on iTunes this latest run appears under a "Sensor 1" selection, whereas all my previous runs with both the sensor and receiver would be under "Nike + Sensor" selection. Within the "Nike + Sensor" selection, under nikeplus.com, there's the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option and below it a Login ID that shows my Nike+ website log-in info. Within the "Sensor 1" selection, the Login ID is missing. I've tried renaming "Sensor 1" to something else but it didn't make the Login ID appear.
Thank you for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best,
    Dimitris.

  • My iPod Nano 7th Gen says "Example was not copied to 'iPod' because it cannot be played on this iPod"

I have been trying to sync some TV shows from iTunes into my iPod Nano 7th Generation. Could it be becuase it's HD? I've tried 720p and 1080p. Apple says it supports 720p so why isn't it working?

Yes. These HD movies SHOULD be generating an error message when you try and sync them to your Nano.  You'll want to remove these and redownload the Standard Definition (SD) versions.
To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available.  You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

  • My iphone4 says the accessory is not supported and won't charge

  • Ipod nano 7th GEN no audio out from head phones jack

I am trying to use my Ipod nano 7th Gen with a monster wireless remote that connects to the charging and sync connection. The remote works fine and I can control the Ipod just fine with it, but when I connect the headphones to the headphone jack there is no audio. If I remove the wireless remote receiver from the charging sync connection the headphones jack works just fine. I am using a lighting speed to a 30 pin adaptor because the monster remote receiver is of the 30 pin format if that matters.
Please let me know if this is normal or if there is a work around. My intention is to use the Ipod connected to a motorcycle sound system using the headphones connection to connect it to the motorcycle system amp and control the Ipod wirelessly.
    Thank you!

Can you provide a link to the monster product, or the model name/number?  If it's a Bluetooth product, it seems superfluous to connect the receiver to the dock connector, because the 7th gen nano has built in Bluetooth.
So, IF the remote control device is Bluetooth, you may be able to pair to it from the nano without connecting the receiver device to the dock connector.
If it's not Bluetooth, you may be able to find an equivalent remote control device that IS Bluetooth, and not need to connect anything to the dock connector, which seems to be the source of the problem.

  • Music keeps cutting out on my ipod nano 7th gen when using bluetooth

I just recently got an Ipod Nano 7th Gen and the music keeps cutting out when I use bluetooth headphones. It seems like it needs to have a line of sight or else the music will cut out. If I hold the ipod in my hands while running or keep it in my pocket, I am listening to more pauses than actual music. I practically have to hold the Ipod up to my head while running to not have it cut out on me (and that is obviously not comfortable). Is this how it should be or do I have a faulty Ipod? Is there some way that I can fix it or do I need to take it to the Apple store?

thankfully I was just able to find the answer in another member's post. You can double click the side button to advance the songs. I credit member little goomba for sharing the answer on another post. Now I am back to loving my new Nano!

  • Does the ipod nano 7th gen work with Belkin Blue tooth In car hands free? Customer support said it did when I bought it, but the box doesn't say it does and I dont want to open it in case I have to return it.

If the Belkin supports the A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) profile then it will work.

When I connect my iPod nano 7th gen. to my computer and open itunes, there is a message that says the iPod could not be detected. Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen not turning on or connecting to laptop??

My son's ipod nano 7th gen won't turn on and when I connect it to the lap top a message comes up saying device driver not recognised - he was listening to it just last night, can anyone help? He's only had it since his birthday in November.

I reset the ipod by holding down the power button and the menu button and the apple screen came up after a few moments - this seems to have done the trick!

  • IPod nano 7th gen (brand new) doesn't recognize Headphones

I have a brand new iPod nano (7th gen), and it doesn't detect when headphones are plugged in. I have read that the problem can ocurr because the headphones are not correctly inserted or that the headphone jack has dust inside. As i always do on a regular basis with mp3 devices, i cleaned out the jack to be sure
    This is what happens:
When music is not playing i hear a crackle pop sound every 2 seconds or so. My headphones are perfectly fine and work with my Samsung galaxy s4 and my old iPod touch, and my brothers iPhone. Just don't work with iPod nano. I have 3 pairs of headphones all which do not work but I do not have the original headphones. they are so uncomfortable and seems unfair to me that apple would have a one size fits al headphone that only works with the device. I do not intend on switching.
When I play a song, and then press the sleep/wake button to turn off the display, the music stops. Or if I let the music play, it stops when the screen times out and turns off. These two things occur because the iPod "thinks" that there are no headphones inserted.
When I try to activate the FM radio, the radio won't start because it says that there is no radio signal (which occurs when no headphones are connected).
Needless to say, the microphone and volume controls of the iPhone headset, don´t work at all (they even work on the iPod shuffle!).. and because of this, no voice recording for me!
I have also restored the device in iTunes, and updated with no luck.....
Thanks in advance for any useful answer!
    iPod nano

First, make sure the headphones plug is completely inserted into the nano's headphones jack.  It should "click" into place.  The fit may be tighter than expected, especially when new.  There is a sensor in there, and if the plug is not completely inserted, you may get some sound, but the nano will not "sense" the headphones.
If that is not the problem, you should have the nano looked at under warranty.  It should work with any standard headphones. If there is an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there.

I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
    - Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.   This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Nano 7th gen wont turn on after a restore

I tried holding down the top and middle buttons and it wont work, this is a replacement one for an iPod Nano 7th gen with corrupted software, could it be the same problem?
During the restore it says it's restored and not to disconnect my iPod but then can't seem to find it so it repeats the restore again and again
Starting to get really annoyed with it now
