ipod nano 7th generation Headphones jack dented help? how much does it cost to un-dent it? is it even possible? I can't put my headphones in. :((

This is rediculasly common for this device. Hopefully Apple gets the design right next time around by moving the earphone jack ever so slightly towards the center.
Anyway, are there any suggustions for moving it back properly yourself?

My BRAND NEW iPod Nano 7th Generation (purchased from and Apple Store less than a week ago) will not recognize any headphones. Consequently, I can hear NO sounds. It worked just fine right after I set it up. I turned it off, disconnected headphones that came with the Nano. Several hours later I turned it on again, plugged in the headphones, and then I could hear NOTHING. When I tried the radio, I got the message there was no signal because it said the headphones were not plugged in, which they were. I have tried two other sets of headphones. None work, but they all work in another iPod, so I know it is not the headphones. I restored the software and started over, but this didn't help either. I have pushed the headphone jack in as far as possible. This is very frustating because this Nano was a birthday gift for my husband. I will be grateful for any help. Thanks a lot.

Thanks SO much for the GREAT advice! I did just what you said, and I am back in business. The sound is fine, and the radio works. I cleaned out the jack with a tooth pick, blew some air in, and pushed the jack in a bit harder.I guess I was too tentative about pushing the jack all the way in. Get a flashlight and make sure there is no obstruction/dirt/debris in the Nano headphone jack. Be sure you plug the headphones all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the Nano.

I bought an Ipod Nano 7th generation and out of the box, there was a really loud distorted sound as soon as i pressed play. When i press pause, it stops. If i use a different pair of headphones is does it. So, i exchanged it, and all was good for about three weeks, now even the new one is doing it. The sound is so loud and fuzzy that i cant even hear what the song is supposed to be.

First, ipod nano 7th gen does not have a built-in speaker. Second, a brand new nano jack is sometimes ifficult to insert, make sure it is fully inserted or flushed to the ipod body. Cheers!

The headphone jack on the nano is very tight when new. Push the jack all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the nano.

I have a 16 gb ipod nano 7th generation. I've followed all the instructions in syncing and all seems fine except I cannot hear the music through the earbuds, even though the ipod shows it is playing. What am I doing wrong?

If you are not getting any sound from your headphones on your iPod nano, I suggest reading over the information in the following article. Along with the information in the Acoustics section of the article, make sure the headphone jack is pushed completely into the headphone jack.

Verify that the headset is plugged in to the iPod .
Check the volume setting.
Try adjusting the volume by pressing the volume buttons.
Try another song or audio file.
Try another headset.
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo appear.
Issue not resolved

Ipod Nano 7th generation suddenly stopped working!

I've had the new ipod nano 7th generation for about a month. It has suddenly stopped playing music through my headphones, the headphones are'nt broken and everything else is working fine, any suggestions to what the problem could be??

Is it still covered by warranty for replacement? If yes, I recommend to make that request. Cheers!

I registered my new ipod nano 7th generation on my macbook pro. While on my macbook, I tried to download wma audiobooks from the library using overdrive media console & its not working.....so, I decided to use my windows laptop. I have the latest version of itunes on both laptops. (I know I can download & transfer wma audiobooks to my shuffle using overdrive media console & windows laptop.) I'm getting an error message that says I have to reformat my nano if I want to download wma audiobooks. Can I use my nano on macbook pro & windows laptop? will I ever be able to download wma audiobooks to my nano using macbook?

Your iPod Nano will need to be restored in iTunes on the Windows laptop before you can start adding/syncing content over to it.
Or if you want to use it with OverDrive on the Mac, you'll need to download the books as MP3s as WMA is not supported.

Now, it will not sync the movie unless it is on the computer I bought the movie from. Because I erased my iPod on the computer I bought the movie, I have to download my iPod to the computer I bought the movie on in order to sync the movie to my iPod. How do you download everything on the Ipod nano 7th generation to iTunes on another computer?

How do I shuffle a playlist during a workout on an ipod nano 7th generation? The only shuffle option I see is for all songs, not a specific playlist. I know that I can begin a workout using the now playing option. This will allow me to shuffle a playlist in the begining of my workout, but if I want to change music I cannot get back into shuffle mode unless I select the shuffle all songs option.
