IPod Nano 7th Generation Not Being Recognized?

I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes 11 which is titled, "iTunes 11.0.1," last night and it hasn't been recognizing my iPod Nano 7th Generation. Anybody having this problem?

Did it work with the previous version of iTunes?

Neither my computer nor ITunes recognizes my Ipod nano 7th generation. It was working fine until I ran an intensive AVG PC tuneup on the laptop. Device manager recognizes the Ipod and says it is working correctly. I have done all suggested troubleshooting and nothing has yet worked. Additional suggestions or info I should provide?

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation - Not Charging / Error Msg From Comp 'Attached Device Malfunctioned'

My IPod Nano 7th gen arrived last night.  I was able to turn it on and select language 'english'  When I connected it to my computer it did not recognize my iPod, so it also did not show up in iTunes,  Error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.  and Windows does not recognize it."
My Nano turned off and went blank.   I have tried to reset it.  Nothing works, just blank.
No charge icon, I have tried all USB ports on my comp, but nothing works- (but my USB ports work fine)  I have read that if my iPod has not been charged fully, the computer my not recognize it.
I am now using an adapter and trying to charge it thru the wall power socket.  It has been connected for half an hour.  Still cannot turn iPod on.
I have Windows 7 running on comp.  Itunes is current version 10.7.  I have rebooted my comp several times and re-installed iTunes.
I have an iPhone and an iPod shuffle that are both synced with iTunes on this comp, they work fine.
Is my iPod broken?  Do I send it back?  Anyone else having the same problems?  Please Help !!

I had this problem as well.  I have a PC running Windows 7. I have installed the latest iTunes 10.7 software (64 bit). I reset the nano by holding down the start and home button for 10 seconds.  Then - I plugged it into a PC running Windows XP and was able to format the iPod. Ejected it and plugged it into my Windows 7 computer and then the computer recognized it and I was able to load it. There is some problem with iTunes 7 on Windows 7.

  • Video Ipod 80G 5th generation not being recognized by computer or  itunes.

My ipod is not being recognized by my computer or itunes at all. I bought a new cable and nothing happens as well. however when i connect it in my car it works fine. did any resolve this issue? I am not sure if its the new software that has the issue but i am almost certain it is.

Many people are reporting problems with connecting there fifth-gen iPods after the update to iTunes 9. I had the same problem, and when I downgraded to iTunes 8, everything worked again.
I tried cables, resetting, and all the other steps. My solution turned out to be iTunes 9 itself.
My problem came from using a replacement hard drive-an adapter that allows me to retrofit my iPod with a Compact Flash card instead of a hard drive.
The problem is NOT the adapter. This system functioned perfectly until iTunes 9, and when I switched back to iTunes 8, it worked again.
Summary: I have a modded iPod, and it consistently works with iTunes 8, but not iTunes 9.
Reason: Apple is sooooooooooo afraid a Palm Pre user will be able to use iTunes that they are breaking the sync code on purpose.
    Downgrading iTunes:
    1. find the download of iTunes 8 for your OS. (not posting links, as they may change)
    2. go into your iTunes 9, and export EVERY playlist to a text file. This is the only way to preserve your playlists.
    3. Uninstall iTunes 9 from you computer, install iTunes 8.
    4. Configure iTunes 8 to use your music folder (especially if you moved your music to a different location other than the default)
    5. Add your music to iTunes-this may take awhile.
    6. Import you text files and your playlists will return.
    7. Backup your iTunes 8 library files.
Happily enjoy your modded iPod. Mac Users: Don't accidentally install iTunes 9 from an Apple Update.

  • My ipod nano 7th generation not recognised by itunes

I have done all steps advised by apple support, but my new ipod nano is still not recognised by itunes (latest version). My laptop is HP windows 7. It can see the apple device only as storage but when i open itunes, my ipod nano does not appear at all. pls help...

Try one or more of the following:

    > Register Your iPod Nano
    > iPod not appearing in iTunes
    > Restoring iPod to factory settings

  • IPod Touch 2nd generation not being recognized / charging through iTunes

I am having issues with my 2nd gen iPod Touch being recognized in iTunes or Windows.  I have tried multiple computers with no luck (Windows XP and 7).
Here is what is going on.
iPod is not recognized through computer or iTunes
iPod doesn't charge through computer or a wall charger, however, will charge through a seperate speaker dock. (this seems odd that it will charge on a dock, but not through the wall charger or computer).
Each time the iPod is plugged into the computer with Windows XP, I get a message that the USB device is not recognized.  I get no message when plugged into Windows 7.
Here are the steps I tried to fix the issue.
used multiple cables, 3 in all.  My iPhone 3gs works fine and is recognzied with all cables / computers.
reset the device numerous times and re-started computers.
Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled with no luck.
I'm reaching out into the community to see if anyone has had similiar issues and looking for advice to solving this problem.
Thanks for your help and responses.

Slightly different contact configuratio in the dock might allow charging nly on the dock.
If you can't straight out the contacts:
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. However, it may not be worth it for the old 2G iPod.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following is less. Google for more.
    http://www.iresq.com/ipod-repair/ipod-touch-2.html
but may not be worth it for a 2G
But may not be worth the $69 plus shipping for the old 2G iPod

  • Ipod nano 7th Generation not connecting to itunes

I bought my Ipod nano in January of this year, and have been using the same computer and operating system to access Itunes since I brought it home.
As of this month, whenever I try to connect my Ipod to Itunes to sync my music, it states a message consisting of "An Ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly." I had updated the version of Itunes, so with the research I did in the forums, I uninstalled Itunes, reinstalled, and restarted my computer. I then connected my Ipod and it connected. Hooray. While syncing music, it then popped up a message saying that the music files I was trying to sync were not compatible with my Ipod. I checked the file type; AAC. I disconnected my Ipod, reconnected, and it displayed the first message yet again.
I have used this computer and many of the music files on my previous Ipod nano 5th gen before I purchased my new one, and everything worked perfectly.
I haven't found any other forums that really address this issue, so any help is appreciated.

  • Ipod nano 7th - Generation "not accessible"

I use the ipod in three ways, 1. listening through apple ear pieces, 2. through USB x Lightning cord to music players in both our vehicles, and 3. through a 30 pin x lightning adapter to an Eton music player.  Today #1 works, #2 works, #3 reads not accessible.  Last use of #3 four days ago.  Checked manual did not find "not accessible" phrase in trouble shooting chaper.  The reset, restart suggestions don't seem applicable when the unit obviously works.  What's your suggestion?

  • Ipod nano 7th generation usb problem

New iPod nano 7th generation not being recognized when USB plugged in. Not showing a new device or anything.  Have uninstalled/installed iTunes7.  USBs working with other devices including iPhone4S.  Using Windows 7 Home version with all updates.  Have rebooted several times.  No other USB devices plugged in while connecting new nano.  Tried on another machine with Windows 7 Professional with same results - not working.  Any suggestions?  What am I missing?  Any new drivers for 7th generation?  Did see OS 1.01 already available for nano, but cannot download until PC and iTunes recognize the device.  Thanks.

I figured out the problem.  Very simple, but overlooked at first.  It was the cable that came with the iPod nano.  I plugged it into an outlet using my iPhone cube charger, then connected my nano.  It would not recharge the nano.  Went to the Apple store and exchanged it for one that charged the nano while there.  When i plugged the new one into the PC it recognized the nano, opened iTunes and walked me thru the usual setup.  Synced with no problems.
    So check your cord.
