  • Ipod shuffle 2nd generation not showing up in itunes

ipod shuffle 2nd generation not showing up in itunes and when in its dock blinking orange.

I believe blinking orange means the iPod shuffle is in use by the computer (in some way).  That's actually good, because it means it is at least recognized as being connected to USB.
If you have not already, be sure to try shutting down the computer completely (power off), with the iPod NOT connected.  Also, follow this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Turn on your computer.  Run iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle.

Device manager recognizes the Ipod and says it is working correctly. I have done all suggested troubleshooting and nothing has yet worked. Additional suggestions or info I should provide?

  • IPod Nano 7th Generation Not Being Recognized?

I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes 11 which is titled, "iTunes 11.0.1," last night and it hasn't been recognizing my iPod Nano 7th Generation. Anybody having this problem?

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation - Not Charging / Error Msg From Comp 'Attached Device Malfunctioned'

My IPod Nano 7th gen arrived last night.  I was able to turn it on and select language 'english'  When I connected it to my computer it did not recognize my iPod, so it also did not show up in iTunes,  Error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.  and Windows does not recognize it."
My Nano turned off and went blank.   I have tried to reset it.  Nothing works, just blank.
No charge icon, I have tried all USB ports on my comp, but nothing works- (but my USB ports work fine)  I have read that if my iPod has not been charged fully, the computer my not recognize it.
I am now using an adapter and trying to charge it thru the wall power socket.  It has been connected for half an hour.  Still cannot turn iPod on.
I have Windows 7 running on comp.  Itunes is current version 10.7.  I have rebooted my comp several times and re-installed iTunes.
I have an iPhone and an iPod shuffle that are both synced with iTunes on this comp, they work fine.
Is my iPod broken?  Do I send it back?  Anyone else having the same problems?  Please Help !!

I had this problem as well.  I have a PC running Windows 7. I have installed the latest iTunes 10.7 software (64 bit). I reset the nano by holding down the start and home button for 10 seconds.  Then - I plugged it into a PC running Windows XP and was able to format the iPod. Ejected it and plugged it into my Windows 7 computer and then the computer recognized it and I was able to load it. There is some problem with iTunes 7 on Windows 7.

  • Ipod nano 7th Generation not connecting to itunes

I bought my Ipod nano in January of this year, and have been using the same computer and operating system to access Itunes since I brought it home.
As of this month, whenever I try to connect my Ipod to Itunes to sync my music, it states a message consisting of "An Ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly." I had updated the version of Itunes, so with the research I did in the forums, I uninstalled Itunes, reinstalled, and restarted my computer. I then connected my Ipod and it connected. Hooray. While syncing music, it then popped up a message saying that the music files I was trying to sync were not compatible with my Ipod. I checked the file type; AAC. I disconnected my Ipod, reconnected, and it displayed the first message yet again.
I have used this computer and many of the music files on my previous Ipod nano 5th gen before I purchased my new one, and everything worked perfectly.
I haven't found any other forums that really address this issue, so any help is appreciated.

    Hi ..

  • Ipod nano 7th - Generation "not accessible"

I use the ipod in three ways, 1. listening through apple ear pieces, 2. through USB x Lightning cord to music players in both our vehicles, and 3. through a 30 pin x lightning adapter to an Eton music player.  Today #1 works, #2 works, #3 reads not accessible.  Last use of #3 four days ago.  Checked manual did not find "not accessible" phrase in trouble shooting chaper.  The reset, restart suggestions don't seem applicable when the unit obviously works.  What's your suggestion?

  • Why isn't my iPod Nano (7th Generation) not coming up on my itunes, but on my desktop?

  • My ipod nano 5g will not show up in itunes or my computer

I plug it into my computer and reset the device. the apple logo comes up, then it says connect to itunes and switches over to a screen that says "disk mode" with a check. nothing will happen after that.
does anyone know what i have to do...?

the ipod will not appear in my computer or itunes. a drive came up in my computer "drive H:" but i clicked on it and it said please insert a drive... i don't think the computer knows its there?
i also looked through the diagnostics screen. i did all the little test it has to run, and they all passed. although one thing was missing... when you go to about under this screen, it shows the software version as "EFI Version: 0. 0e0" it should have: "EFI Version: 1. 4e1"
i was thinking the computer doesn't see it because the ipod has no software installed to it?
do you know if any of that would be a problem...?
i did try the two links you sent me, but none of witch worked.

  • Ipod nano 7th generation usb problem

New iPod nano 7th generation not being recognized when USB plugged in. Not showing a new device or anything.  Have uninstalled/installed iTunes7.  USBs working with other devices including iPhone4S.  Using Windows 7 Home version with all updates.  Have rebooted several times.  No other USB devices plugged in while connecting new nano.  Tried on another machine with Windows 7 Professional with same results - not working.  Any suggestions?  What am I missing?  Any new drivers for 7th generation?  Did see OS 1.01 already available for nano, but cannot download until PC and iTunes recognize the device.  Thanks.

I figured out the problem.  Very simple, but overlooked at first.  It was the cable that came with the iPod nano.  I plugged it into an outlet using my iPhone cube charger, then connected my nano.  It would not recharge the nano.  Went to the Apple store and exchanged it for one that charged the nano while there.  When i plugged the new one into the PC it recognized the nano, opened iTunes and walked me thru the usual setup.  Synced with no problems.
    So check your cord.

  • I just recently updated my iPod Nano 7th Generation, and, after the upgrade finished, my iTunes library, playlists and all, vanished. How can I restore the playlists and songs to iTunes?

I updated my iPod Nano 7th Generation, and it wiped my iTunes library. I no longer have my playlists or movies. I was able to recover my music, but the many, many playlists I had, I could not recover. Is there any way I could recover them?

    Hello apbvieira,
It sounds like your iPod Nano is not recognized in iTunes anymore after a recent update. I recommend the following article to help you get that in order named:
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
    1. Start with the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant
If you haven't already done so, use the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant that applies to your iPod. This will often solve your issue.
If you're still experiencing the issue after going through each of the steps in the assistant, continue with the steps below in this article. The most likely solutions are listed below (for both USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) iPod connections). Check each section starting from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping your iPod from appearing.
Note: To determine if your iPod syncs via USB or FireWire, check the table in the Additional Information section below.
This step will get you started, but there are additional steps in the article if you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
