Ipod Nano 7th generation touch interface is now screwed with due to apple update.

Hi, I recently purchased a new laptop switching over from a macbook pro 2010 of which the logicboard died. In this newly configured windows 7 64 bit laptop I downloaded the latest itunes. I then connected my ipod nano 7th generation to it and it requested to format it since it was formatted for a mac. I did so and restored my ipod nano 7th generation. After this however my previously perfectly working nano touch interface (swiping, touch to select) is now completely messed up. This has to be due to the formatting and/or the new nano update or itunes update from apple. I can't even swipe to the right or left to move between screen interfaces on my nano anymore. As well the touch icons require double taps and have rectangular white selection boxes over each icon (NOT NORMAL)
Overall I am very displeased and want apple to fix this with either a new firmware nano 7th generation update or apple itunes update for windows 7 64bit. I'm thinking of buying a replacement iphone 4 but now that this issue is prevalent how can I TRUST Apple that nothing wrong will occur with connecting a new iphone 4 to my itunes on a windows 7 64 bit PC.

REASON FOR POSTING THIS HERE: I want more exposure to this issue. I couldn't get access to customer support since my ipod nano 7th generation is over a year old. This is cruel but whatever, Apple does what it wants and I will post this here to do what I want. Gain exposure to this defect that clearly Apple is not addressing since the above link displays a user with the same issue and posted the problem 3 months ago.

Very good question. I should have explained that part. VoiceOver changes how the navigation functions so it's a little tricky.
From the home screen I got to settings by swiping up and down instead of the normal left and right.
To open settings I first tapped once on the settings icon so that the box appeared around the icon. Then I double tapped the icon to open it.
I repeated the "tap once to get the box then double tap to open" process to navigate through the settings menu. Navigate to: Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver -> set to off. Once it's off the navigation will return to normal.

Not all iTunes video can be transferred to iPod, If the video resolution or video bit rate beyond iPod limitation, you can't upload them to iPod. For example, some iTunes purchased movie are High definition movie, the resolution is too high to play on iPod. If the videos are in your iTunes, you can right-click the video to highlight it, and then select "Create iPod or iPhone Version". iTunes will automatically convert the video to iPod compatible format. My new Ipod Nano 7th generation is stuck in a restore loop. Here is what happened: I added music to it using the latest version of iTunes, the colored bar at the bottom of the summary tab in iTunes showed my that I added it and I disconnected it to listen to the music. As I turned it on, it told me that there is neither music nor pictures on it. So I connected it again to my computer and iTunes told me that I had to restore. Which I did following all the steps but it keep telling me that I need to restore it. After three times of restore it, I disconnected it from my PC and turned it off. Now it won't turn on anymore - even though the battery is fully charged - and when I connect it to iTunes, iTunes tell me "The iPod software updater could not be contacted. The server does not support this version of iTunes." Well, I just downloaded the newest version a couple of minutes ago from the apple website. My iPod stays black. What shall I do?

Computer doesn't recoginize iPod nano 7th Generation and it will not power on

My iPod Nano 7th Generation was working I plug it inot the computer and computer would not recoginize it and now it will not power up.

Try:
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Ipod Nano 7th Generation Car Radio Controls via USB Cable.

When I use my USB connection in my Hyundai for my ipod nano 7th generation, instead of playing what it was playing when I plugged it in, as it did with my previous nano, it plays random songs and I cannot navigate to podcasts I want to listen to as the navigation is clumsy and displays file names which are meaningless to me. How do I get it to play what I want to in my car?

It does not matter, as i stated this happened to me doing both. Currently I am using it now with the car, I got a newer car last week. But I think when I get out of the car it pauses anyways. I have noticed that if pauses I don't touch it, it stays on the same song for maybe 1 day.
If I don't use car for 3-4 days, it starts over again. That shouldn't matter though, if I did turn it off? I need help.......

I have iTunes on two computers. I bought a movie on one computer, but through a series of events had to erase my iPod on that computer and sync it to a different computer. Now, it will not sync the movie unless it is on the computer I bought the movie from. Because I erased my iPod on the computer I bought the movie, I have to download my iPod to the computer I bought the movie on in order to sync the movie to my iPod. How do you download everything on the Ipod nano 7th generation to iTunes on another computer?

How do I shuffle a playlist during a workout on an ipod nano 7th generation? The only shuffle option I see is for all songs, not a specific playlist. I know that I can begin a workout using the now playing option. This will allow me to shuffle a playlist in the begining of my workout, but if I want to change music I cannot get back into shuffle mode unless I select the shuffle all songs option.

Why won't my BRAND NEW iPod Nano 7th Generation recognize headphones?

My BRAND NEW iPod Nano 7th Generation (purchased from and Apple Store less than a week ago) will not recognize any headphones. Consequently, I can hear NO sounds. It worked just fine right after I set it up. I turned it off, disconnected headphones that came with the Nano. Several hours later I turned it on again, plugged in the headphones, and then I could hear NOTHING. When I tried the radio, I got the message there was no signal because it said the headphones were not plugged in, which they were. I have tried two other sets of headphones. None work, but they all work in another iPod, so I know it is not the headphones. I restored the software and started over, but this didn't help either. I have pushed the headphone jack in as far as possible. This is very frustating because this Nano was a birthday gift for my husband. I will be grateful for any help. Thanks a lot.

Thanks SO much for the GREAT advice! I did just what you said, and I am back in business. The sound is fine, and the radio works. I cleaned out the jack with a tooth pick, blew some air in, and pushed the jack in a bit harder.I guess I was too tentative about pushing the jack all the way in. IPod Nano 7th Generation - Bad out of the box?

I just purchased the iPod Nano 7th generation today and came home to sync it with iTunes. iTunes recognizes the device for a second then I receive a "Disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off." message. I can see the iPod in iTunes for a second then it disappears. As I keep it plugged in it will recognize, disappear, reapear then disappear again.
I purchased an iPod Touch 5th generation today and that is working just fine (as well as synching my other iDevices). Is this nano bad out of the box?

Same thing happened to me. It did download the playlists I wanted, but the next time I plugged it in it acted as though it was being plugged in for the very first time, (regsitration and set up etc.)
But the really bad news is the BATTERY LIFE. maybe get one hour of play time before it drains to zero.
Anyone else have this issue?

I had this problem as well. This is what I found by searching online. I tried the fix on my nano 7th gen and it worked. I hope this helps you. Make sure to use two fingers for sliding and double-click the icons to get into settings. Good luck.

Itunes has stopped detecting my ipod nano 7th generation

Hi I have recently bought an ipod nano (7th generation). Initially I connected it to my computer and everything was working fine but it has now stopped appearing when I connect it to iTunes. It connects - the ipod screen shows it is connected - but I cannot sync it or transfer music.
I have tried it on my wife's computer and it works as normal but all my music is on my laptop. I don't know if I need to download a mobile support or something but it's very frustrating. I have the latest version of iTunes on both laptops/
I've followed the steps on the online help but the ipod isn't even appearing in my laptop's device manager. Gratedful for any help

It's working now, apple must have updated itunes that fixed the issue, not sure.

Press and hold home and on/off button until the apple logo appears. Then you can charge your ipod. After fully charging it off it and on it again.

My girlfriend gifted me a brand new ipod nano 7th generation two weeks back. To upload songs in the ipod I connected to pc and it asked me to format the ipod and mistakenly I have formatted ipod nano (7th). Now it won't shut down nor do any activities. If you formatted the iPod's storage using Windows, it is erased along with the iPod's software. You will need to do a Restore using iTunes. If iTunes currently does not recognize the iPod when you connec it, try putting the iPod into Disk Mode first

Run iTunes on the computer and connect the iPod. If iTunes sees the iPod, it may say something about "recovery" and should prompt you to do a Restore. The Restore re-installs the software, so it should be back to the way it was when you took it out of the box.
