  • HT1363 My ipod touch 32GB keeps clicking and won't turn on or charge even though power is getting to it.  The screen shows a sad face ipod.

We have an ipod classic with wheel.  It keeps saying low battery even though I have had it charging for ages.  It also makes this clicking sound but refuses to do anything else.  I can't get any screen to show except a sad face ipod and the "low battery" screen.  I have tried to do the restart option but it makes no difference.  Help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If defective, within warranty and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost

  • Ipod nano 7th: Screen flashes white (turns off) and stops the music.

I just got a brand new Ipod nano 7th: Less than 10 seconds after the song starts playing the screen flashes white, the apple logo shows up and it returns to 'home' screen. Battery is full. Tried to restart but that didnt help!
    What could be the problem?

    Hi joannefromhkg,
If your iPod nano (7th generation) will not turn on at all I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    Specifically -
Follow these steps if your iPod a power-related issue.
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting it while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least six seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    And -
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.

  • IPod nano 4Go keeps conecting and disconnecting

Hi, my iPod nano 4Go kept connecting and disconnecting from the main unit(threw USB2 cable), then it started booting other and other again. What kind of a problem is this? Now the batteries are empty... (the iPod is 4 months old).
    Ercorr.

My 80 GB iPod Classic is having the same problem -- when I connect it to the computer, it syncs as it should and then when I attempt to disconnect it, it starts syncing again. It does this no matter whether I disconnect through iTunes or through the desktop (i.e., dragging the iPod icon to the dock to eject it). This never happened before a software update last week. I forget the update but it was something to do with the Intel processor, I think. My date and time was also screwed up but when I woke up this morning that was finally ok.

  • IPod Nano Screen is blank and dosen't turn on or off.

I leave my ipod nano on for 2 seconds. Screen turns blank and dosen't turn on or off. iTunes dosen't recognize it. Nothing I do works. Charging dosen't work. iPod, however seems to be on sleep mode.

After leaving the iPod to charge for a minimum of at least 30 minutes, have you tried a hard reset of the device? To do this, make sure the hold switch along the top is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • 6th gen ipod nano has white screen and won't go into disc mode

My ipod nano has a white screen - it will play music, and it is recognized by itunes. It won't enter disc mode. I can't seem to find any other helpful steps to follow online other than put it into disc mode and restore it via itunes. When I attempt to put it into disc mode holding power/Vol down together the screen will turn back, but when I then hold down Vol down/Vol up together while the screen is dark it just goes back to white screen. I did plug it into the computer and restore it via itunes, and the screen is still white.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Hi LizS5,
It sounds as if you have already done much of the troubleshooting suggested in this article, but I would suggest you work through it in order to get your iPod nano back up and running -
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
    Specifically -
Try putting the iPod into disk mode:
Reset the device (press the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black—about eight seconds).
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.
While the device is in disk mode, sync it to iTunes and try to restore.
And if the issue is not resolved -
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • IPod Shuffle seen as iPod Nano in iTunes 6 and won't load music

I had iPod shuffle linked to one computer, then changed computers. Tried loading iPod software from installation disc and iTunes 6 then looking at iPod. Initially got message indicating that iPod was linked to another computer - did I want to change link to this computer? I clicked 'YES' and all was well...until I tried the iPod updater. Following that my iPod Shuffle was recognized as an iPod Nano and would not accept any music through iTunes. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling software multiple times with no success. I am still able to use iPod with old computer, but those days are numbered... Need some suggestions to remedy this. Thank you.

those symptoms can sometimes be caused by a Windows drive letter confusion. are the techniques from this document of any help with that?
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • When I try to turn on my old ipod nano it will flash and then go black again. only when its hooked up to the computer. whats wrong with it and how do I make it work?

Ok. My brother has an old Ipod nano. It's the tall one with the tiny screen. Anyway, he tried to turn it on one day and it just flashed white and then went black again. We tried everything we could and it still wont work. Now it wont flash unless it is plugged up to the computer. How do I fix it so it will work again?

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Ipod Nano Error 1417 Tried and won;t work

I've tried looking through the restart method, the disconnect and reconnect method, and nothing works. My Ipod Nano is Ver. 1.0, and the update process does not pop up with a dialogue box, all it does is 'updating' but it's really doing nothing, help?

are you still at an itunes version 7.0.0.70, Chang?
to check, go "help > about itunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
if you've still got a 7.0.0.70, first try an upgrade to 7.0.1.8:
    iTunes 7.0.1.8 Installer
if you still get the 1417 when using 7.0.1.8, let's get your iPod Updater logs to the Apple engineers for a look.
    Open this folder:
    C:\Documents and Setings\yourusername\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Updater Logs
(You may need to show hidden files in order to see the Application Data folder. Open up My Computer, and in the Tools menu, choose "Folder Options..." Then go to the View tab, and then in the "Advanced settings", select "Show hidden files and folders.")
Send the files inside the iPod Updater logs folder as attachments to this email address.
In the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Help -- iPod Nano loses charge quickly and won't start up

When I don't use the iPod for a few days and then try to start it up, it won't turn on at all. The only way I can get it to work is to connect it to the computer. It also seems to lose its charge quickly. I sent it back to have it checked out and I was told it worked fine, but I continue to have the same problems. I'm stuck. Any suggestions? Would Restore help?

  • IPod Nano 4th gen - screen flickers, won't turn on, isn't recognised by computer or iTunes.

My 4th gen iPod Nano has been playing up.
When I connect it to my computer or a dock, the screen flickers with the Apple logo. Once unplugged, it won't turn back on and the screen goes completely black. I tried to reset it numerous times (both connected and unplugged) but that didn't help at all.
I tried to see if I could fix it by restoring it and putting it in disk mode, but the iPod isn't recognise by any of the computers in my house and doesn't appear in either iTunes or 'My Computer' so that really doesn't help. I'm positive it's not an issue with my computer or USB cable because the other iPods in my house connect just fine.
Any idea on how to fix this?

If you have synced your iPod touch to a computer, it should be relatively easy to fix.  Plug the iPod into the computer to which it is synced.  Once plugged in, hold the home (square button on front) and the power button on the top for approximately 10-15 seconds.  After the apple disappears from your screen a couple times, a new screen will popup indicating to start iTunes on your computer.  Once you start iTunes, you will be given the option to begin the restore mode and then choose to restore your particular iPod.  Once again, you have to had synced your iPod to a computer to utilize this option.  Not sure how I figured it out, but I finally did!  Good luck and let me know if it does/doesn't work for you.

  • My iPod Touch randomly shut down and won't turn back on.

This has happened before so i know what to do, BUT, my main menu button has been broken for a month so I just shut down my iPod to get out of apps. But, now since it won't turn on and I can't reset it, how do I fix it?

    Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Where it says place the iPod in recovery mode, use this program:

If not successful, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Screen flashes and won't turn on, what could be broken?

    Hi guys,
All of a sudden my macbook pro won't turn on anymore. I press the power button and the screen flashes for a second, the front light stays on, white, but nothing happens, no noises at all, not even the harddrive or the cpu cooler startup. I really don't know what could have happened and what I can do, could you guys help me?

    Turning it on video:
    http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=6ekz84&s=5
Between 1 and 2 seconds I press the power button and the screen flashes. After that I press and hold the power button to turn the light off.

My guess is that you have a hardware problem that needs repair.
You might try removing the battery and the AC power and then holding the power button down for at least 5 seconds, then replace battery and AC power and see if it will work.
