Ipod Nano 'About" Settings

When I save text documents to my iPod Nano, there is always funky jibberish text before the important info and requires me to scroll to the bottom in order to read my note. I noticed under the Settings: About menu that the 'Format:" lists Windows. This seems lame. Is this the problem? Is there a way to change this format?

That's usually a sign that your headphones are not plugged in all the way. The white but of the headphones should be flush with the Nano, meaning no silver can still be seen from the headphone's plug.

I took it back to best buy and they said it had a defulted battery, and that I needed to call the company. So I did and they had me send it in. Will they send me a new ipod, or a refurbished one. I havn't even had the ipod long enough, and I paid good money for it. I'm hoping to get a new one, because it wasn't my fault.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I can certainly understand that waiting for a refund can be very disappointing, especially if it takes more than the time expected. Normally, credit card refunds can take a few days and up to a billing cycle depending on your financial institution.
Per the information you’ve provided in your profile (email address), I took some time to check the order. It seems as though what you saw was not an actual charge but an authorization. Essentially, authorizations can also take a few days to be posted on your account. With that said, I am hoping that during the next few days you’re able to make use of your funds.

Please help me with my new IPod Nano!!!

I just got my new Ipod Nano about a month ago, and I need alittle bit of help with it. I would like to know how to add videos and pictures. I mainly just need to know how to add pictures. When you say pictures do you mean photographs or album artwork? Here's a simple "How To" on downloading photos from a folder on your hard disk to an iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
On a smaller device like the Nano I would tend to leave the "Include Full Resolution photos" box unchecked as these will take up a lot of space on the iPod and are only useful if you want to copy photos from one computer to another. iTunes will add "optimised", small TV quality versions of the photos to the iPod for you to view.
To add album artwork, first of all make sure your iPod is enabled to show the artwork:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer
2. Click on the iPod icon when it appears the iTunes Source pane to bring up the preference tabs.
3. Select the Music tab of the iPod settings. The iPod settings are displayed to the right in the main iTunes window.
4. Select the "Display album artwork on your iPod" check box.
5. Click Apply to save the changes. The iPod begins to update as soon as Apply is clicked.

I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 is this why I cannot sync my ipod nano 7th GEN

Yes you do need to upgrade, and especially Upgrade to the latest version of iTunes on your Mac. And then, as expert User kenichi Watanabe informed another user with that issue,:
"The latest version of iTunes may hide the sidebar. If it is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. With the sidebar visible. when you connect the iPod (to the same USB port used by your other iPod), does it appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES?
If it does not, I would shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub. Start up with only standard keyboard/mouse connected (if normally used). Do this to Reset the iPod

Run iTunes. Connect iPod to a direct USB port on computer."

IPod Nano Not Recognized by any Computer

Hi. I found an iPod Nano about a month ago. And I plugged it in to my computer and nothing, the only thing it does is it Starts to charge for about 5 seconds...then immediately stops...What I don't understand is that my iPod Shuffle works perfectly, I plug it in, then iTunes pops up. But I have tried this iPod Nano on about 5 different computers, with iTunes and nothing. I have a Windows Vista, with iTunes ver. 8.0.1 the newest. Can anyone help please?

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer.

Ipod Nano pauses frequently mid-song for no apparent reason

Can any help me figure out why this is happening? My Ipod nano pauses on its own very often while I run. Anyone have any ideas what is making this occur?

I lost my iPod nano about 1 or 2 months ago, I found it today and it didn't turn on so I though it could be the battery, so I put it to charge but It doesn't turn on and I dont' even know if it's charging... Help!

How long have you left it to charge? It can take up to at least 30 minutes (sometimes longer) for the iPod to show any signs of life. After leaving it to charge for a few hours, try resetting it. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

New Ipod Nano that I can't turn on

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me. I have a few questions. Excuse the rambling, but I'm really frustrated. My mom bought an IPOD Nano about 6 months ago. I just received it as it was a present for my graduation. I was so excited about it, but when I went to charge it up it said it was fully charged and I tried to download songs to it through ITUNES. I couldn't get it to work. Now I can't even get it to turn on!! What could the problem be? The IPOD was unopened when I got it. My mom purchase it from Sam's Club in December because it was a good price. We haven't been able to locate the receipt, Can I get help from Apple if I don't have a receipt. Please help!!!

I had the same thing happen...it worked for like 2-3 days, then that was it.
I ended up sending it in for service. Got the new one faster than they said was the average (for engraved, usually 2-3 weeks, I got mine in 1 week).
I feel bad for you, cause I know how hard it is to live without the nano (although yours is new, so you may not have become emotionally attached yet). This problem seems to not be that rare, although considering how many people in the world have nanos, well, it is pretty uncommon.
I don't have a link to the page to request ofr service, but search these forums for something like "request service" and you'll find it.

IPod Nano does not fit iHome or JBL accessories??

I received an iPod nano about two months ago as a gift. It does not fit the iHome alarm clock (with modifier for nano), nor does it fit the JBL player with the modifier. For both, I've had to take out the modifier and then it plays.. did that for testing. Don't want to do because am afraid will damage iPod without the modifier in to support the iPod.
Is it possible that a my iPod nano has a manufacturing defect, and the connection slot is minutely off from what the standard should be?
Any advice??

The dock connector on the 2nd gen nano is not exactly in the same place as the one on the first gen.
Looking at the iPod from the front, it's slightly more to the left.
So, are these accessories compatible with the 2nd gen nano?
It just says "nano" on their website, so I suspect not.

My iPod nano skips some songs for no apparent reason

When i try to play songs on my iPod nano 7th gen, it skips some of them without playing.
The album art and track name shows up for a split-second and then it goes to the next track. Sometimes it skips several tracks by the same artist at a stretch. The songs the ipod keeps skipping play perfectly on iTunes. I tried erasing all the songs and sopying them again, but it didn't solve the problem. (I haven't tried restoring the ipod yet)

IPod Nano Warrenty Question.

I bought a 4 gb iPod nano about a month ago and the screen does not work anymore. There is a very minor dent on the side of the nano, but it was working fine for the 2 weeks until today. Does the warrenty cover for it to be replaced for a new one? The dent was caused by dropping it. Thanks for all comments in advance!

No, the warranty would most likely not cover this.
You are not covered for damage due to dropping. Apple will most likelt see the dent, assume it was dropped, and conclude that is the reason the screen is broken. (Which it probably is.)
Couldn't hurt to take it to an Apple store and ask them about it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

PLEASE! BATTERY HELP IPOD NANO

Please help me, i have just recieved my ipod nano about 2-3 weeks ago and i love it, but the battery last alot less than 14 hours. It is about half empty after only a hour or so of playing music only. I always put the hold on and use a short backlight and dont play games but i still cant figure out why the battery will not last 14 hours.

The battery indicator can get out of sync and be visually inaccurate. There is a specific battery test to follow to determine if your battery is faulty and worthy of replacement by Apple.

I went in and reset my iPod Touch back to factory settings and now it will not let me get in unless I sync to iTunes on my computer. Well, it still will not connect thru the USB cord. Does anyone know what I should do to get this corrected? I want my iPod back.

IPod Nano 5G (16 Gig) has frozen on the Reset Settings Screen

My iPod Nano 5G (16 Gig) has frozen on the Reset Settings Screen after I tried holding the middle button to re-set. I was doing this as a result of the backlight timer not responding. I'm really worried now, even if I plug into an official Apple external USB outlet or my PC nothing is happening - it's just stuck on that screen. Has been like this for about 4 hours now. And iTunes is saying it doesn't recognise the Nano and its not showing as an external drive on my PC.
Though this was bought for my from HMV at Xmas would I still be able to take the Nano to the Apple store as a last resort? Any help would be great, thanks.
