Ipod nano always dies and wont reset

My ipod nano 5th gen will work fine for a while. Then all of a sudden it will randomly die. I try to reset it but it wont. The screen just stay completely black. I have to wait several minutes then reset it. It will work again for a while then die again and the screen goes black again. Its a big pain and im not sure weither its a problem with the actual compoonents of the ipod (ie the battery or hardware) or a software issue.

Hello,
I would try *restoring* the iPod via iTunes. If the issue still persists after you have *restored* it, then it's likely a hardware issue possibly with the battery of logic board.
Here are instructions on how to restore your iPod.

  • Help! Nano is black and wont reset!!!

I had my ipod nano in an iradio it was playing fine, then just went black.  It will not reset and my computer will not recognize it.  I then put my husbands nano on same iradio and after about 10 minutes did same thing.  What happenened, HELP?

How did you try and reset the Nano?  Does this particular dock listed your Nanos as being compatible with your particular iPods?
Did you connect each of these iPods back to your PC and iTunes and left sit for at least 30 minutes to see if they show any signs of life after that?

  • New Ipod nano always locked and cannot press or do anything?

my new ipod i got for my birthday and well its always locked i've tried the to change the hold but it wont work and i can't click anything its really annyoing i cant listen to my music and videos can someone please help me
    Thanks for all help =)
    Thanks if you reply!

How exactly is your iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library?  In other words, what options do you have selected/enabled from under the iPod's Summary and Music tabs for the iPod in iTunes.  To access the Summary tab, plug the iPod in and select it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes.  To move onto the Music tab, select the Music tab along the top part of the window.
As for the grayed out tracks, there may have been an issue during the sync process.  The best thing to do is remove all the music from your iPod and resync it.

  • My ipod touch is froze and wont turn off. any ideas?

My ipod touch is frozen and wont turn off. I need help everything ive tried isnt working!

Just had this similiar issue with my iPod.  Simple steps found through the Apple Support Website. Follow this link:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320, or follow instructions listed below to reset a frozen iPod nano/classic/color display/click-wheel, etc.:
    1) Toggle the Hold switch on and then off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again)
    2) Press and hold the Menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds.  This step may need to be repeated. (*sidenote...I also found that the iPod would not respond/reset when it was connected to my computer. It just continued to state that it was connected and needed to be ejected before disconnecting.  I pulled the link cable out of the frozen iPod and followed the above steps and it reset normally.)
    Hope this helps...

    Howdy Lumagofe,
I was thinking that you may need to reset the iPod Nano, outlined here How to reset iPod http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
If that doesn't quite get the iPod going again, then it will need to be restored. Use this article to help with that Restoring iPod to factory settings http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1339.
    All the very best,

Good afternoon, I would like some information I have an ipod nano 6th generation and has the same one-year warranty is only 2 months of use, and it fell down and broke the glass of the display, I called technical assistance in Brazil and informed me that Brazil has no repair services for Apple, which was the basis of its price change in the exchange is not worth half the value of the product.
I wonder how I do to change this device without the expense of 50% for the same product is in warranty?
    Thanks in advance.

yes agree, plus a multinational seeing a product and has no technical assistance to do the maintenance then it's no use I buy a new product if it is damaged I will always be because it has no prejudice in this maintenance.
sorry but even more products coming from China to Brazil in technical assistance.

  • Got a refurbished iPod Nano 6th gen, and went to connect it to my PC,

Got a refurbished iPod Nano 6th gen, and went to connect it to my PC, it said it was configured to Mac and went to restore it and install software. Now shows white screen with little computer icon and warning sign. won't reset

By a reset, I assume you mean pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear?
Can you try and force the Nano into Disk Mode and then connect it iTunes and restore it again?

    Hi, Jennifer.
First, try resetting the device.  The first article will walk you through this process.  I am unsure which iPod nano you have so I will include the basic article.  From there, select your version for troubleshooting steps.

Hi, I just got my new iPod Nano 4th Gen. and the screen is blank... It's not on and its plugged into my Mac OS X Mountain Lion. I don't know what to do. Help!?

If it is plugged into a USB hub (or the spare keyboard port), try connecting it to a direct USB port.
Also, try doing this Reset procedure, while it is connect to power.

  • My ipod screen blacked out and wont let me see anything but it will play music

my ipod screen blacked out and wont let me see anything but it will play music. how can i fix it or cani get a new one?

    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
If not under warranty, Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
A third-party place might be less expensive. Here is one. Google for more.
