Ipod nano at home/in car?

I know they have accessories to hook up the old school ipod to play in your car/at home, but I haven't seen anything like this for the nano. Anyone know of what you'd buy for this?

this is wat i am getting when i get my car and license.

  • CONNECTING nano to HOME STEREO & CAR STEREO

I hooked the Nano up to my home and car receivers via: mini-cable > AV cable.
    AUDIO SOUNDS VERY MUFFLED:
    • Its definitely not the quality of the mp3's.
    • EQ(if you can call it that) is on "off".
    • High volume, my home receiver turns off (power overload or something)
    • Low volume, low output
    • Wires are good (monster cables)
    Am I doing something wrong?
Do I need to buy a dock adapter to regulate power & output?
You'll know this by whether you have to use the ipod or the speakers to turn up the volume.
If you can use either volume controls, then it DOESN"T regulate output.
If you can ONLY use the speaker/receiver volume control, then it DOES regulate.
Please try your docks and reply, haha.
    Thanks for your responses.

Every time you buy Monster cables, an electrical engineer cries. Seriously, don't waste your money on their snake oil.
That said, they ought to work for this application. You shouldn't need a dock; that just gives you the same signal at a more convenient physical location.
The volume level of the ipod should be as high as possible without distorting the signal you hear out of the stereo.
I don't know what to tell you; my nano sounds fine when I play it through my stereo exactly like you're doing it. (Not as good as a CD, but as good as what I hear in my ipod headphones.)

  • IPod Nano Not Working In Car

I have an ipod nano and if i am sitting at home the ipod works great thru the ear-buds, however if i walk out to my car and try to listen to it in my car thru the same ear buds it does not work at all. it shows it is playing, but no sound. as soon as i get out of the car it works again. Any help would be great.

thatis really weird...you should be able to even though that is very unsafe because you need to be able to hear fire truck and police sirons...you can by an itrip from http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripnano/index.php or as a cheaper obtion get this... http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72802/wo/vl30tOP xBJ553x2N5WHxF40TTzS/2.SLID?mco=AFDE31D0&nplm=TA381LL%2FA

  • Low volume on Ipod Nano when playing through car stereo

I used to own a 4 gig ipod mini, and I'd connect it to my car stereo via a stereo cassette adapter. Well, that little guy crashed after a few years of good hard use, and I bought an Ipod Nano. Only, when I play the Nano through my car stereo, the volume is really low. Is there any way to fix this? I'm thinking maybe the Nano doesn't have the same amplification as the mini, and that's why the volume is low, in which case there's going to be no way to play it through the car stereo. I've tried two different stereo cassette adapters so I know that's not the problem. Anyone have any clarifying thought on this? Please help. David

I use a cassette adapter in the car as well, and also have to adjust the voume on the stereo and the ipod to a higher setting than what I would when listening to a cassette or CD. I've used this adapter with another brand of MP3 player before I got my nano and it was the same as the nano in regards to having to turn up the volume.
In using the adapter in different cars, I've noticed that on some cassette players, I have to swith the auto reverse from say, tape A to tape B in order to get sound out of the adapter. You may want to check the auto reverse settings on your cassette deck, if you haven't already.

  • Ipod nano settings for in-car use

    Hi,
I bought an ipod nano 6 which will permanently plugged into a car.
The connection to the car's radio is by analog aux-in. so interaction with the ipod is minimal
The ipod wakes/powers on together with the car's ignition.
Is there a setting to make the ipod automatically start playing a playlist at power-on?
Conversely, can the ipod be made to shutdown once the power source shuts down = car's ignition turned off.
    best regards
    glenn

    Thank you for your reply.
Hope it counts as a suggestion for a next iteration

  • Using Ipod Nano 3rd generation with car kit

Just a simple question... I recently got an 8GB Ipod Nano... want to play it in my car with the Belkin car kit. Even with the volume turned up at max on my ipod I still have to turn up my cd player volume in the car high - is this normal? Also, is FM the best frequency? Confused... just want good quality listening. Thanks

Others have asked this, and the answer I've always seen is no.

  • Connecting ipod nano 7th generation through car stereo usb cord.

When I connect my ipod nano 7th generation to my car stereo through a usb cable, (using a lightning adapter),  I am not able to control my music through the ipod, but only through the car stereo system. The car stereo system won't allow me to play my playlist on shuffle mode nor can I control the ipod itself through the device when it's plugged in. I have to unplug it and make new playlist selections. Any solutions?

I am having the same problem with mine.  I have a Hyundai Sonota and can pair with my Ipod Nano but cannot connect.  I also would appreciate any help.  Thanks!!

  • New iPod nano shut off by car adaptor

Husband bought me a new iPod nano. We just got a scorchue iPod adapter to use in the car a few months ago. We use it and my. New nano will go to sleep and turn off. However if we use our iPhone 3GS if it goes into sleep mode it still plays. So I have to keep waking up the  nano and it's basically useless. Any suggestions?

I had this problem when I started.  But there is a support item that says your headphones are not completely plugged in.  Once they are plugged in all the way this problem goes away.

Just to expand on what Chris said.
The phono inputs of a stereo amp are designed to accept the inputs of a moving magnet (or sometimes a moving coil) phono cartridge on a turntable. These are low output devices and so the phono input is engineered to amplify the signal.
A line level output such as the iPod doesn't need such amplification and so, if you connect the iPod to the phono input of your stereo you will overload that input. The sound will be distorted and in many instances may cause damage to the speakers. The phono input is for turntables only. Connect the iPod to a line level input as previously mentioned.
The reason you will get a better sound from the iPod when connected to a stereo and using the line out port from the dock (and not the headphone jack on the iPod itself), is that the headhpone socket is powered by a low quality amp. It's meant to drive an easy load like headphones and not the input of a stereo.

  • Ipod nano 5th gen & stock car radio playback

I bought my wife an ipod nano 5th gen and now that she takes it everywhere she wants to be able to play it thru our autos radio/cass/cd player. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this without buying another radio or having to take this one out?

See if you can still find an 1/8" inch to cassette adapter, I haven't seen any at Best Buy, or anywhere, in a while now though..
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • Problem synching calendar to 5gen iPod nano (Vista Home Premium SP2)

My iPod 5gen nano will not sync my Outlook 2010 calendar, and thus my To Do Lists, which I use for college. I am using iTunes 10.1.0.54 on Vista SP2, I get error messages on some occasions, (one stating something about logging in or out of Windows?) and crashes on others. I really need my calendar to sync.

You posted to the wrong area of discussions. This is the 5th Generation iPod group (the video full sized iPods that were released previous to the "Classic" models). If you are asking a Nano question, you want to post to this area...

  • Ipod nano hook up to car stereo

Does anyone know if there is a direct connect hook up to a car stereo with a nano. I have an iplug connection but cannot find anything that will hookup to it.
    Dell   Windows XP

Not all car stereos have RCA input jacks. Some have 1/8" stereo miniplug inputs. If none exists on your unit, you can search for "auxiliary input adapters" for your car stereo.

  • Ipod nano 4th Gen. doesn't charge on AUDI A3 2009 standar car interface

    Hi,
I'm quite dissappointed with both, my ipod and Audi's interface... i don't know whom to blame, but more likely i think that this might be a firmware issue of my ipod.
The ipod connects just fine to the car but it won't charge while playing... Can some one guide me on the reasons of this, is Audi's fault? (the manual of audi says that ipod will begin to charge inmediatly after connected)... without charging the whole purpose why i bought the ipod is meaneng less?
I'm also interested in a workaround in order to charge ipod in the car, but maybe the charging adapters won't work either..
    thanks for the help

    Hi,
I have the same issue but with 2009 Mercedes AND my new iPod Nano does not charge either when I put it in the Bose speaker system at my house. Had no issues with my older iPod Nano (worked in the car and with the Bose). This is very frustrating because like the first writer commented; the whole reason for having an IPod in your car is lost if it does not charge. So is my only option really to buy separate additional chargers for my car and the home Bose system? Nice... would have kept my old iPod if I would have known this
Thank you so much if someone can help!!

  • Ipod nano in your car??

Anyone no about equipment to get the ipod nano connected to the car? What it is needed nd if it is possible to do it?

    It's definately possible.
If your car stereo has an input connection the best way to do it is to get an adapter that will allow you to connect the iPod directly to the stereo. You can find information about them for different stereos in the apple store.
The other option is to get an FM transmitter or a cassette adapter.
FM transmitters basically create a short range transmission that your car stereo will pick up, you just set the transmitter and the radio to the same frequency, you may have to fiddle with it to find a good frequency that doesn't have any interference and some people complain about the sound quality but it works.
Cassette adapters work just like the old cassette adapters they had out when portable cd players were brand new, you just plug one end into your iPod, the other goes into the cassette hole and the stereo treats it just like a tape.

How to connect iPod nano to a stereo amplifier?

    Hello Secullinanjr
Try using an auxiliary cable to connect it to your stereo. Check out the article below for more information and another alternative.
