Ipod nano audiobook download from CD

I have a book on CD that I want to listen to on my ipod nano. I downloaded the cd (7 in all) in my library. Then transfered to my nano. The chapters downloaded into "songs" rather than audiobooks and the chapters where all out of order.
Am I missing a setting - my nano is porgramed with "shuffle" off.
Thanks for any help.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Right click the files in itunes and go to get info. hit the options tab. Change it at the bottom to an audiobook.
That should put them in audiobooks.
If not, see this...
hudgie: Converting CDs to iPod or iTunes audiobooks
As for the order, you may need to put them in a playlist. Also, try going to music-->albums and see if they show up in there in order.

just bought a brand new ipod nano and downloaded an audiobook borrowed from the local library.  The book is there and playing but, I cannot hear anything.  What am I doing wrong?

Does the same file play normally in iTunes?  Do other audiobooks play normally on the iPod?
How does "borrowing" work?  Does it require use of another app, other than iTunes, to get it on the iPod?

After I've heard an audiobook downloaded from the public library, how do I delete it from the Shuffle to make room for other audiobooks?  When I plug it into my computer, I get a screen showing how much space is left on the Shuffle but no list of files that I can delete.  These books, incidentally do not appear in the ITunes screen.  WRA

Select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  If this is a current 4th (or 3rd) gen iPod shuffle, you should be able to see the contents of the shuffle by type, intented under the shuffle's name (still in the sidebar).  Select Music or Audiobooks (not sure where those items from the library will be listed).  The items will be listed to the right, for each category.  Find the items, select, and delete.
It's on page 20 of the manual
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_4thgen_User_Guide.pdf
NOTE:  If this is an 1st or 2nd gen iPod shuffle, select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  Over to the right, go to the Contents tab, where the items are listed.  Select and delete them from this list.
I find it more convenient to make a playlist in iTunes with things I want to put on the shuffle.  I then set up automatic syncing (or use autofill) to have iTunes load the shuffle from that playlist, automatically.

  • Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?

I have an Apple, IPOD, NANO, purchased in 2009:
Problem: I would like to have a Podcast Playlist sort podcast episodes from oldest to newest broadcast date; I have done so on my P.C. based ITunes player and have synced same to my IPOD NANO; however, when I do so the podcasts on my IPOD NANO are not sorted from oldest to newest; rather, from newest to oldest.
Question Summary: Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?
    Thanks / Ed

You can try changing the the password for your iCloud account that may work.
Otherwise you will have to get him to sign out of Messages by go to Settings>Messages>Send and receive and tap your Apple ID and then tap signout.

  • Audiobook Download from Disc

Audiobook downloads from my personal CDs show up in the Music Category instead of Audiobooks. How do I get them in the right spot?

Select all the files in iTunes.
    Right click - get info.
Click the Options tab and set *Media Kind:* to Audiobook.

Hi there. My iPod Nano was stolen from my car today. I do know the serial number of this stolen device. Is there any way that Apple can block another user from connecting this stolen device to iTunes? Also, if another user was to attempt to connect this stolen device to iTunes, would Apple be able to inform of the username of this person in order that I could then pass this information to the police?

No. Apple can do nothing to help. Sorry.

Hi!  I just bought a new laptop and have downloaded itunes and signed in.  When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs.  How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in?  I have a Dell with Windows 7 and an ipod nano, I think.  Why can't I just plug my ipod in and "sync" it?  Will that move my CD music into my library on itunes?  Thanks for any help!  Soooo confusing!!!

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • TS1493 files not visible on ipod nano after disconnect from itunes

I have an iPod Nano (6th generation - 16 Gb) which was purchased in early 2011. All of a sudden all files in all categories (music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc) are no longer visible once it is disconnected from iTunes on my laptop. When reconnected to the laptop the files are visible again in iTunes - so they are still on the device.  I have searched the Apple online support info and that only seems to provide complicated and unhelpful information about redesigating hard drive network maps etc., which is an action I am not prepared to risk for fear of making a bad problem worse, or contacting my "administrator" - which is me!  Can anyone offer any solutions that don't require a PhD in computer science?

Here are a couple of additional pieces of information that might provide a clue:
    1) At home, my iPod shows up as having the name I used when I registered it. On the second computer, my iPod shows up with the name DATA1.
    2) I have an iPod 4GB mini. At home, that's pretty much the amount of space that shows up in the disk space bar (near the bottom) of iTunes. However, on the second PC, the disk space bar shows 10.35 GB used, 15.66 GB free! Which is just freaky, since it's still a 4GB iPod mini.
    3) According to the iTunes display, everything is transferring absolutely smoothly. Since the iPod is configured to transfer music manually, the Do Not Disconnect sign is flashing throughout, but when I'm done and click on the eject iPod button in the lower right hand corner, it turns off, just the way it's supposed to and I can disconnect my iPod. It's just that my songs aren't visible anywhere on my iPod when I try then to play them.

  • Cannot sync my ipod shuffle to download from itunes

Why doesn't itunes recognize my ipos shuffle - I can't download from my pc to my ipod. It doesn't show under devices - what am I doing wrong??

Just to make sure you are looking at the right place in iTunes, in the iTunes window, there is a sidebar along the left side of window.  When the iPod shuffle is connected to USB, does it say "DEVICES" in the sidebar?  If so, the iPod shuffle's name should appear below DEVICES (you may need to click Show next to DEVICES).
When you connected it for the first time, iTunes should have asked you about setting up the shuffle.  If that did not happen, there is some problem.
Basic troubleshooting would be to shut down (power off) the computer.  At the same time, use this reset procedure on the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Then, start up computer, with shuffle NOT connected.  Run iTunes.  Connect the shuffle.
If this is a recent purchase, you can contact Apple's official tech support by phone

    (where it says "Phone")
or, if you have an Apple Store nearby, make a reservation at the Genuis Bar

  • Ipod nano - lost photos from ipod classic

I had an ipod classic on my pc and then installed an ipod nano for my daughter. It automatically synched with my library. She now has my songs but cannot import any music(it takes over 1 hour to imort 16 songs -then show durations of over 400 minutes and will not play. In addition I have lost all my photographs. Can anybody over a solution or should I put the lot in the bin? I am desperate - already spent 4 hours at this! Thanks

Pic sync is one way - computer to ipod.
Ipod will sync pics with one computer at a time. If you sync to another, then it will first erase the current content from the ipod, then replace with content from the new computer.

  • Updating my ipod nano with photos from itune

I have been facing an error ("The ipod cannot be update. the disk could not be read from or written to")when I try to update photos from itunes to the ipod nano.
Although I have been updating music successfully and using the last version of itunes (6) and ipod software it persists with this error.
Do you have any hint to give me ?

Restore the iPod and then see this article for different ways to sync content to your iPod when your iTunes library is larger than what your iPod can hold.

  • Change account iPod Nano is updating from?

I purchased an iPod Nano for my wife for Christmas and loaded it with songs from my iTunes library on my account on my Mac (OSX 1.4.4). Now I am trying to get the Nano to be updated from my wife's acocunt on the same Mac. I have set up the music, so it is shared. My wife's login opens with iTunes seeing the music and her Nano connects and displays it's contents. When we try to make a change we get a message telling us "Not sufficient permission to update".
    What do we do now?

The thing is, that iTunes keeps on library of music with your loging account, and a different library of music with her login account. So even if you share the music, and can play it in iTunes with both accounts, the iPod is linked to her account and can only load music that's in her library. It won't load shared music from your library.
One way to solve this is to make a second copy of the songs she wants, in her library file. That way they can all transfer to her iPod.
You could also keep both iPod linked to your library, and your account, but make different playlists for her iPod and let it sync to those. That would avoid duplication of music between the two accounts. It really depends on how many songs the two of you have in common: few songs in common the different accounts is fine, lots of songs in common then you may want to use playlists from the same account.

  • Can ipod nano sync calendars from windows office 2002

I have a brand new ipod nano 3rd Generation and I can sync contacts from my windows address book. But I cant sync any calendar info or any to-do lists. It shows that "windows outlook must be installed to sync calendars". I have MS Outlook installed and its Version 2002. Still It Shows The Same Thing!!
P.S. I have ipod nano version 1.1.2 and iTunes version 7.6.2
    Please Help??
    Thanks in Advance

Put the songs in itunes, then sync them to your ipod.
You cannot sync directly from windows media player. You must use itunes.

  • Any one had problems with IPOD Nano getting wet from sweating while exercising. It will kill your Ipod so beware.

Ipod nano will stop operating if it gets wet from sweating while exercising. Beware, sweat will kill your nano and apple will not cover it under warranty. So don't let it get wet.

    Sweat bands works!
