  • Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore

    Hi All
My Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore and download the software update. Specifcally, when I connect my ipod, I get a message saying itunes cannot access the ipod and that I should restore it. I go the the ipod tab, hit the restore button and the download begins (approx 16mb). The download completes, and then I get this message :
There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod "ipod". An unknown error occurred (-48).
    Please help !!!!!

  • IPod Nano Sync with Mac, but iPod formatted for Windows

I finally changed to the Mac platform and all my iPods and iPhones were synced with a Windows based computer. While my iPhones were not a problem, my iPod Nano (4GB 2nd generation) seemed not be recognized by my iMac.
I can't seem to get my iMac to show the iPod under Devices to reformat it. Anyone have any advice to give?
I have plugged it in to a my Windows based work laptop and it seems to work fine. However I don't sync with that machine and I have already sold my old Windows based computer it was synced to.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have three iPods: 40GB iPod photo, 2GB black iPod nano and 1GB iPod shuffle. Each one has it's own playlist to auto sync songs from (technically, the 40GB iPod is synchronized manually, but the other two have playlists to sync automatically from). They each have different names so iTunes knows they're each different. So, you shouldn't have any trouble keeping just two iPods separate with your Mac mini or iMac.

  • Ipod nano will not sync movies, ipod nano will not sync movies

trying to sync my daughter's nano and movies are now not recognized (nor are tv shows)...our music/movies have been added to the cloud- does that matter?

Windows XP   8gb 2nd gen Ipod Nano (Black), 4gb 1st gen Nano (Black)
Ok take a loof at this article. It goes through a series of possible things that may be going on as to why your iPod is not showing in windows and/or iTunes. Some won't apply at all and some may. Note that at the begining of the article it suggests you check and go through all things in the article to make sure. The final suggestion is that your iPod may need servicing or replacement. After going through everything in the suggestion and it does not work I would go with that idea and suggest that you contact Apple (unless you purchased at a retailer and are still within their return period...then I would suggest taking it back to that retailer for an exchange.).
    Good luck!

  • Can I charge a new iPod Nano 8 GB with a iPod Mini charger?

I gave my wife an iPod Nano (black, 8 GB) for christmas. After christmas we discovered, that there is no charger, it only charges when you connect it to a computer.
Unfortunately that is not how she uses her iPod. She doesn't use a computer. I pour her favorite music into the iPod, and that's it. 8 GB is more than adequate - she doesn't update the iPod frequently. Her last iPod (a Mini) had the same music for more than a year and a half - untill she lost it.
So ... I guess I could buy a charger for her. Og bring my Powerbbok home every night just to charge her iPod.
But we have the charger from her lost iPod Mini. Does any of you know, if we can use that? The charger has a firewire plug and the cable is firewire in one end and the other end fits perfectly in the Nano. However, I am afraid to fry the Nano.
    The charger says 12V .67A
The print on the iPod Nano reads 5-30V 1A Max.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

Yes, you can use the charger (and cable) that came with the mini to charge the nano.
    Cheers!

  • My daughter has an iPod Nano but just received an iPod Touch 5G but iTunes won't recognise the new device. What can we do?

My daughter has an iPod Nano but just received an iPod Touch 5G but iTunes won't recognise the new device. What can we do?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need iTunes 11.1 or later on the computer.
    Does the iPod charge?

  • My new ipod nano does not sync the ipod name cannot be synced the required disk cannot be found

my new ipod nano does not sync the ipod name cannot be synced the required disk cannot be found

Wow .... so you are syncing via WiFi when you sync .... would that be correct?
I would still quit iTunes and then restart and see what happens. The iPad and iTunes must be playing some weird games.
If you do sync via WiFi (I do), I think you are better off closing iTunes when you are done - unless of course you are using iTunes for Home Sharing or something like that. My experience is that if you leave iTunes running, the iPad and iTunes just start sending weird signals back and forth.
Since I started Wifi syncing, I have seen messages in iTunes that made absolutely no sense at all. Anyway, that's my take on it. If you do not WiFi sync, then I have no clue why you are getting these messages.

  • IPod nano had unexpected error syncing

    Hi
Yesterday whilst syncing my iPod Nano 5G with iTunes 10.3, I recieved an unexpected error message from iTunes telling me that nine files had corrupted and that my device needed to be restored. I have not restored the device yet but now whenever I connect my iPod to my PC windows asks me to scan the device for corrupted files and iTunes asks me to restore.
If I Restore the iPod will I lose the built in games that were on the device when I purchased it or any other important data which can't be retrieved afterwards?
    Thanks

Update: After again repeating the 5Rs (instead of re-install, downloaded latest version of iTunes which prompted for "repair" rather than "install"), a message asking me if I wanted to update my iPod software came up. I accepted, and following the install was able to sync without the "corrupted" message. Of course when the sync was finished, I tried to play my iPod and noticed that there was no music on it (so in fact the sync hadn't really worked). Since then, all I get when connecting the iPod is the "corrupted" message, even after another reset.
    Suggestions?

Hi I have just got the new iPod nano and every time I plug it in to my iMac i get errors:
"An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconect and reconnect the iPod and try again.
If the problem persists, reinstall the iPod Support software form the Optional Installs on the Mac OS X install disc."
    and
"iTunes cannor read the contence of the iPod "iPod Nano". Go to the summary tab in iPod prefrerences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factoy settings"
then at the same time gives the device removal error.
but when I plugged in the nano to my Macbook pro to see if it was that, it works fine. I have tried to restore it and still no luck and I have reinstalled iPod support from my Leopard disk How can i get my iMac to work with it?

    Hi,
Make sure your iPod Nano is directly connected to a high speed USB port and not plugged into a USB hub. This article has some general USB connection tips. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286

In case the battery is low on power, you can try this while the iPod is connected to power.

  • Pleae help ipod Nano wont update, error message driving me insane!!!!

  • IPod Nano 16Gb sync error

For a while now I have been getting the following when I try and sync my iPod Nano 16Gb on my Mac.
The iPod syncs when it first is recignized by iTunes, but it will not synce again. I select different playlists, or make any changes. I tries resetting the iPod and now I have almost no music on it. It is three months old and useless now.
iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-25172).
    Any help would be appreiciated.

It does happen on both USB ports. I have used the original cable and one out of another iPod Nano box.
Both my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8) and iTunes (10.6.1) have the latest updates.
I have tried both of my iPods, (16GB Nano and Classic 160GB), they will sync when first plugged in, but when I make music and playlist changes, then click the sync button they fail.
The 160GB will synce the changes to the playlists after I restart my system and iTunes, but the Nano had to be reinstalled completely and I cannot change the selected playlists, so it is almost useless now.
I will try and get to the Apple store next week. I read a couple of comments about this being a possible corrupt file. I have 160GB of music in iTunes, so not sure how to go about figuring this out.

  • IPod Nano 3rd generation error -50

When attempting to sync photos into iPod Nano , unexpected error -50 occurs, and is unable. We have latest version of iTunes 8.2 (23).
    What do we do??

    Hey there,
I would try trashing the iPhoto Photo cache to the trash because it may be corrupt and see if that helps. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the Apple support document below. Hope it helps.
