IPod nano compatibility

Is the ighost docking station compatible with the iPod nano 7th generation?  If not, is there an adaptor? [email protected]

You'll need the appropriate lightning to 30 pin adapter to go along with it.

  • Ipod Nano Compatibility with Ipod Universal Dock and Remote

I have an 8GB Black 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I want to connect it to my stereo. I was told that the Apple Ipod Universal Dock would be a good solution.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=6C0 4E07A&nplm=MA045G/C
The website says that it is compatible with my nano, so no big deal right? I just wanted to make sure it would work fine with my iPod nano before I went and bought one. Does it come with the AV cable to connect the dock to my stereo / tv? DOes the dock have a graphical menu interface like some of the third party docks/remotes have?
Also, will the Apple Ipod Remote work with the universal dock?
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=BB5 E48CD&nplm=MA128G/A
The apple store website says that everything will be compatible, but I wanted confirmation from someone who has actually owned this or knows about this.
Can you offer any better docks/remotes ideas?

I was looking at the review CNET had for that Kensington dock.
    http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-player-accessories/kensington-entertainment-dock-500 /4505-6519_7-31631868.html?tag=uolst
I had a question about part of the review though, I am not sure I am understanding it correctly.
"We were impressed by the remote's ability to take control of our iPod; most of the third-party iPod-dock remotes we've seen only pause the music or video, skip tracks, and adjust the volume, not browse the menus. That said, the Entertainment Dock still isn't perfect. When you navigate the menus, your TV screen will be blank, so you must rely on the iPod's screen for your visual cues. Our other gripe is that the remote seems cheaply designed: The buttons on our review model looked misaligned (if usable), while the battery cover was annoyingly difficult to pry open. We got about 30 feet of range from the remote, which is more than adequate for most living rooms."
So this means that even though the remote can navigate the menus on the iPod, you wont be able to see what you are doing unless you go to the screen of your iPod?

  • 5th generation iPod nano compatibility with Linux?

I have Linux on my computer is the 5th generation iPod nano compatible with my operating system? Would i need to install a particular program to make it work.

Why not let the customer choose to use iTunes or not ?
Be able to add individual files just by copying them from any computer (any OS, with or without iTunes installed), and use a filesystem browser on the iPod to select which file to play in which directory.
Only Apple would know the answer to this. However, based on the history of the iPod, it seems unlikely that you're going to see this happen. One of the major differentiating features of the iPod is that one doesn't have to mess with a file system browser, it's all handled automatically by iTunes. Now, that's not to say that everyone is going to like players that work this way. Hence, the continuing market for other brands of players.
Please, release a new iPod firmware supporting this feature.
Again, seems very unlikely as it runs counter to the entire Apple design philosophy. However, if you want to make your feelings known to Apple (as opposed to just the fellow users who are going to be seeing this post), submit your feedback here:

  • 4th Gen Ipod Nano compatibility issues`

I purchased a 4th Gen 16gb ipod nano. When I connected it to my car's Sony car stereo I got the "can't charge" error message that has been discussed previously on these pages. It will also not work on my wife's Chrysler Town & Country. Several solutions to the charging problem have been given, including getting "Passport" from Scosche (sp). However, when I called their help desk they stated their product will solve the charging problems, but if my nano was not recognized by my stereo and then work, that their product would not solve this problem. Neither the Sony or the Chrysler stereo would recognize the nano after giving me the charging error. Is their any software that can be downloaded into the nano that would make it work with these car stereo systems?
Thanks for any advice or help.

If everybody with this problem were to return the 4th generation nano, the problem would be solved by Apple in short order. Instead reponses along the line of "you shouldn't expect old equipment to work with a new generation Apple product" are offered thereby enabling Apple in ignoring its customers.

  • Docking station ipod Nano compatability

I have an old nano which I play on my Panasonic SC-CH30DB and Acoustic solutions Speaker Dock (Model CSPK40Wi). I also have a new Nano (7th Generation) but it wont fit either docking station.  Can I get adapter plates for my existing docking stations or do I need to buy a new docking station for the 7th generation ipod model?

Before spending the money on this check with Panasonic and Acoustic Solutions and be sure their equipment is compatible with this adapter.

  • IPod Nano 2gen and Honda Music Link 2.0 compatibility issue

I have compatibility issue with my iPod Nano 2nd generation and Honda Music Link 2.0 adapter.
My iPod is on 1.1.3 firmware (the latest), and it doesn't work with Honda Music Link:
I have iPod Nano 2nd Generation (Firmware 1.1.3). I created playlists on iPod like it is written in documentation (Honda1, Honda2, etc.).
I connect iPod, press CD/AUX and it flashes CDC 9 for a while then says CDC Error.
Music is playing but I cannot control iPod from Head unit buttons. The only way to change tracks/playlists is to do it directly on iPod.
Note that when iPod is connected there is no "Honda" logo on it as it is supposed to be.
I discovered that iPod Nano 2gen work with Honda Music Link if the iPod is on 1.0.2 firmware.
Moreover Honda Music Link even doesn't work with other iPods which are on latest firmware version. So the only problem to solve the problem I see is to downgrade the iPod. Buying new one won't solve the problem.
Could you provide me this old firmware 1.0.2 for my iPod Nano 2gen (ipsw + signature files)?
If you cannot please provide me a way how to solve my problem.

I suspect that the dealer is correct.
My wife has a 2006 Accord EX Sedan and the MusicLink ceased to work with her 5G iPod after iTunes 7 and Firmware 1.2 (flashing 6 in AUX-CD mode). It does however still work with my first gen. iPod Nano.
I prefer to use the MusicLink without the TTS software, and have therefore not tried MusicLink 1.3.

  • Compatibility of the ipod nano 2nd gen to the dock for ipod classic 3rd gen

Is the ipod nano 2nd generation compatible to work with the old dock for the 3rd generation of ipod classic?

Well it's compatible in the sense that it will work with the iPod as the dock connector is the same.
However, it's way too large and the nano will be nowhere near a snug fit so you risk damage to the delicate connector pins if you are not extremely careful.

  • I have a 6th Gen ipod nano. Is there a compatability problem with Windows 8.1?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • Compatibility Ipod Nano

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could help me with this... I've been on several websites and I'm still not sure if an ipod nano would work on ME? Can anyone help me with this. Can you just copy songs from your pc to the ipod? Any help would be very much appreciated

I'm still not sure if an ipod nano would work on ME?
No, you'll need Windows 2000 or Windows XP (Or Mac OS X). iTunes is not compatible with Windows ME.
Can you just copy songs from your pc to the ipod?
Not exactly. You can put the iPod in Disk Mode and copy tracks to your iPod through Explorer... but they will not play as audio tracks on the iPod. DOing this will simply make the iPod a glorified USB memory stick.

  • Software Compatibility ipod nano vs 60gig ipod

    I have been using an ipod nano for a few months and am very pleased with it. Today I purchased a 60 gig ipod but the current itune software doesn't recognise it when I plug it in. I intend to keep the ipod nano so my questions are;
If I install the software that came with my new ipod will it conflict with the current software for my ipod nano?
Do I need to use the new software to register my new ipod?
How would I transfer my music from my current software to my new software if nessesary?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.

    hi Don!
okay, you need at least an itunes 4.9 to run a nano, but you'll need at least an itunes 6.0.0.18 to run the video. it's possible also that your current ipod software isn't recent enough to run the video.

the best thing to do here would be to upgrade both packages to the most recent versions:

    Ipod Updater Installer

  • Compatibility issues with 1st Ipod Nano and In Car Windows MP3 media player

I use a mac pro running 10.5.6 leopard. My new car has a Windows formatted media MP3 player with USB connector which doesn't read my 1st generation Ipod nano. I can load the music files onto a flash drive and play them in the car but without any of the functionality of an Ipod.
How can I load music files onto my Ipod and use it in my car without
resorting to loading Windows on my mac and reformatting my Ipod to PC? Is
there a crossover bit of software available? Are more recent nano's formatted for both Mac and PC? I have saved the IPod as a external hard disk and converted all music files to MP3 which is the MP3's accepted format. I'm also sure I have the latest software for the IPod. Any ideas? Cheers.

OK I am confused. You say your car stereo has a Windows formatted MP3 player? What does that mean exactly? That the car stereo can play MP3s off of mass storage devices plugged into its USB port?
I think if the above is what you meant, then you have two problems. One is that your car stereo likely reads FAT32 formatted storage devices (and possibly, but doubtfully, Windows NTFS formatted devices). Your iPod is likely formatted in Mac format which your stereo won't be able to read.
That can be overcome. Simply restore your ipod on a Windows machine to put it into Windows format then plug it back into your Mac and use it that way. Macs can read and sync to Windows formatted iPods just fine.
But the other problem is, your stereo may not be able to actually control an iPod directly. Does the instruction say it can? Therefore it would be looking on the storage of the iPod that shows up as Mass Storage for tracks, not on the hidden area where iTunes stashes music into and your iPod plays music from.

  • IPod nano installation problems with Windows Vista

I purchased an iPod nano today and have not been able to install iTunes. There are instructions for Windows XP but not much help for Vista. As of right now I am very unhappy with my purchase and if I can't get help soon I am going to return it. I have heard so many good things about iPods but I haven't had any good experiences yet. Please help!!

I, too, just bought my first ipod and have Windows Vista. I purchased songs through iTunes and tried to drag them to my ipod icon, but it said that I was not authorized on this computer! I called tech support for HP and they said it's a compatibility issue and to contact Apple about it to fix it. Before I do so, I am checking here first, just hoping there would be a really easy fix for this problem. I'm regretting getting Windows Vista now for many reasons, this being the latest. Any advice?
