IPod nano doesn't work at all

Just rec'd an iPod nano 2 gb about 2 weeks ago. Showed that it needed to be charged so attached to my Windows XP system (not a usb 2.0 port) and it still showed charging after two days. Tried the reset 8 billion times - no go. Now, nothing works on the iPod. Bought the power adapter and plugged it in and now it just makes a buzzing sound. I read somewhere to unplug it from all power sources for 24 hours - didn't work either. I have no idea why it doesn't work. Any other ideas?

"Any other ideas?"
Yes. As it's only 2 weeks ago since you got it, take it to an Apple store and get it exchanged for one that works. You shouldn't be jumping through hoops to get a brand new iPod working.

My ipod nano 4th gen. scroll doesn't work at all. how do i fix it? do i have to send it in? and how much would it cost?

So it connected wirelessly at the Apple store where you took it for service? What kind of wireless router are you using and have you updated the firmware for it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My iPod Nano doesn't work as it should...

I have just got my new iPod Nano. It's the 2gb model from the second generation. I was extremely happy, because it looks awesome and I thought that it would work same way.
The player is working perfect. Plays songs, really awesome.
But I have really BIG problems with iTunes. As I said I have got iPod today and everything is new and up-to-date - iTunes and I even somehow managed to update my iPod. Why somehow? I have extremely big problems with updating it. I think that it works okay now, but not at all. Everything is okay when I use an automatic system. I copy music I want to library, conect iPod then and everything copies perfect. The problems are starting when I try to manage iPod on my own - copy music etc. This simply doesn't work! When I try to change the system on non-automatic the error (-50) occurres and iPod cannot be updated. I even can't do this simple thing so there are no talks about deleting or copying music to iPod.
What can I do? That's simply driving me crazy :/
PS. Sorry for my English, but I'm from Poland. I don't know if the apple service exists here at all...

And I have one more question, when I connect my iPod,
iTunes turns on automatically and the iPod is seen,
but it's not seen in "My Computer". Is that ok?
Since you have the iPod set at auto sync the ipod would not show in "My Computer" (someone correct me if I am wrong). If you were able to successfully switch it to manual it would show as it would be in disk mode. So I would say that this is ok.
I have done a search for the error -50 you keep getting and can't find anything. At this point I would suggest contacting Apple support to see if they can give you some insight on this error. One thing though...have you tried uninstalling iTunes from your computer completely and then re-installing it to make sure it's not an issue with your current copy of iTunes? Also, have you tried to go through the 5 R's?
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If you have not gone through the 5 R's, please try that first and see if it helps. If not, then try un-installing and then re-installing iTunes. If that does not work, then it would probably be beneficial to call Apple Support.

  • The old "ipod nano" doesn't work on Vista query

I've had my new PC with Vista installed for all of 6 hours now and in that time I've discovered that, yup you guessed it, my little ipod nano that worked perfectly on the XP system I had before isn't detected by the new Vista operating system.
A couple of hours of browsing the web and these forums has shown me I am not alone, but in all that searching the best solution offered from interested parties seems to be to reinstall Itunes (done that) or roll back to XP and forget all about Vista.
Now if Microsoft and Apple have screwed up somehow with the drivers required to make Vista, Itunes and the Ipod nano talk to each other I can understand that. But what is this conspiracy of silence all about? I can find nothing official on either of the companies websites even acknowledging there is a problem. Instead I only find 'lonely' threads (about half a dozen in this forum alone) awaiting an easy answer to a pretty serious issue, an answer that doesn't look very forthcoming anytime soon.
It's a pity since I was just getting into the whole Itunes/Ipod thing, guess I will have to await Itunes 9 or some Vista patch in the future, but then again so far as Apple and Microsoft are concerned... there's no issue to worry about.
    Cheers

If a restore of the nano in iTunes fails to correct the issue, it's hardware related meaning you'll want or need to have the iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party service center.

  • Video iPod Nano doesn't work when plugged in anymore

As of recently, whenever I plug my Video iPod Nano into my Hi-Fi the screen locks up. The music still plays through the Hi-Fi, and I can control the volume via the unit however the screen completely is frozen, and unresponsive to any movement on the clicker. It worked fine before, and this now a recent happening, and I have a feeling the latest update to the iPod Nano knocked it out.

I'm not not sure why this question is flagged as "answered".
I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior. If my nano (3G) is put into my HiFi while in play mode, it will continue playing through the HiFi, but the nano screen will freeze and its controls will become unresponsive. Only the HiFi volume can be controlled via the HiFi top buttons. Ditto for the remote - only the volume controls function (although the HiFi green LED responds to all remote commands as normal).
If the nano is inserted into the HiFi in menu mode, it just remains unresponsive. When taken out of the HiFi dock, it will invariably remain unresponsive for 30-40 seconds, then suddenly light up and return to normal.
In fact, my nano (3G) has always acted this annoying way with our HiFi - which continues to work flawlessly (extra menues and all) with the sundry older iPod models that we own.
Yes, I have tried resetting and restoring the nano (now at firmware version 1.1) and the HiFi no avail.
I'm curious to learn whether anyone has actually gotten a nano (3G) to work properly with a HiFi.
P.S. Great product the HiFi - can't for the good of me figure out why Apple discontinued it... It's truly adding insult to injury if this thing of beauty no longer works properly with the newer iPods.

  • Swapped Ipod Nano doesn't work

Hi!  I received a new Ipod Nano in exchange for my Ipod Classic, but my computer is asking for the CD that came with it - no such thing - where can I download the program to  make this work?  Thank you!

You need to download the latest version of iTunes, there are no more CDs.

  • TS1369 My 6th Generation IPod Shuffle doesn't work at all

I've had this IPod for 3 years now. I noticed it wasn't charging when I tried to charge it on my IHome and on my computer. Before this happened, a bug somehow was crawling amongst my IHome and I accidently put my IPod on it. I doubt this caused the problem, but i think it's worth mentioning. I tried connecting it to the computer using the 3 IPod USB connectors my family has, in all the ports. the screen doesn't light up at all. My IPod Touch works with this computer, but not my Shuffle. Is there anything I could do? My warranty is out, obviously.

Obviously you found my user tip/posts on corrupt AppleWorks preferences although you said "preference file." There are four preference files in two different places. Take another look at my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for the file names & locations.
However, the spinning beach ball you see in AppleWorks has nothing to do with your Intel Mac or corrupt preferences but is the most complained about bug in AppleWorks 6 - known as the "Recent Items bug." The same problem will affect any Mac no matter what processor or OS. There are three user tips in the User Tips Library dealing with Recent Items.

If your iPod nano does not appear in iTunes when connected to your computer, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps on this page -

If the Belkin supports the A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) profile then it will work.

  • I made a mistake of trying to put 5.0.1 beta 1 firmware on my ipod touch 3rd gen. Now the ipod doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

I made a mistake of trying to put 5.0.1 beta 1 firmware on my ipod touch 3rd gen ( non-registered) unsuccessfully. Now the ipod doesn't work at all with any public firmware. Any suggestions?

You can try putting the iPod into Recovery Mode and restoring it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that doesn't work, you'll need to take this up in the forums to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer program.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. I say not worth it for a 2G
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more. Again, likely not worth it for a 2G

Replace the screen yourself if you are up to it
