IPod nano don't appear only at my ibook

So, the problem is my iPod nano is now set for Windows and it works perfectly with my PC. But I want to use it with my ibook. So I tried to reformat it. At first I connected the iPod with ibook and nothing, absolutly nothing and after several minutst iPod started only charging. I tried everything - reset, restart, disk mode, but nothing. I think that the reason is the ibook or mac os. I use USB cable and USB ports work. I have the latest iTunes version and i did everything what I find in forums. I want to use my iPod with my Apple notebook. It's rediculos to use windows pc. Please help!

MORE INFORMATION:
I tried various ways to transfer songs into the itunes ipod icon: from library, from playlist, even tried transferring playlist. In all situations, the transferred songs appear within the ipod icon as they should, but ipod doesn't show these songs when ejected. It's as if there is a missing "burn ipod" step or something.
I tried installing older itunes software, but it wouldn't let me because I had a new version. I didn't want to uninstall my current version for fear of wiping out my entire library.
I am not ready to take this step yet. I am hoping apple has a fairly simple solution.

  • Songs Transferred from ITUNES to IPOD NANO don't appear in IPOD NANO

Help. I tried to do something simple: add songs to my ipod nano. Though the songs "appear" in the itunes gui when the ipod symbol is selected, I don't see these songs in my ipod when I eject it.
I have updated itunes (6.0.4.2) and ipod software (1.1.1), and have restored my ipod nano. So with a clean slate, problem still persists. Except now, since I restored my ipod, I have NO songs on it, so it is worthless until I resolve this problem.
I got this ipod nano at Christmas and was able to load it with songs (eventually) back in January. So I have a feeling that a software update is screwing me up.
It is as if the itunes doesn't properly transfer the songs into the ipod, even though it appears to do so in the itunes gui.
    Thank you for your help.

  • IPod nano does NOT appear on Desktop or iTunes

My mac gave me a message saying Itunes, and quicktime need to updated. I did so and my mac restarted. Afterwards my iPod Nano no longer appears on my desktop or in iTunes. (Actually my nano only appears when iTunes is closed.
When I remove my iPod Nano then there is a message saying a device was removed improperly.
I also have a 30 GB iPod. It will appear on the desktop and in iTunes. My iPod 8 GB Nano will not appear on my G5 ( I have two. One is running 10.5.2 and the other is running 10.4.11. Both with iTunes 7.6. The problem appears to be centered around 8 GB iPod Nano.
I also plugged my ipod nano into firewire that plugs into an adapter that plugs into electric socket. AND still no response from my iPod Nano.
    Please advise........................

    Hi TheGuru146,
It sounds like the iPod isn't restoring correctly. Try putting the it into Disk Mode manually and then restoring the iPod again as described in the article linked below.

    iPod nano (7th generation)
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it has a charge.
Reset the device by pressing the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until the display shows the Apple logo. This should take about eight seconds.
When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk Mode.

  • IPod nano 5th Gen appears in Finder but not iTunes

I am trying to restore my 5th Generation iPod Nano, but it will not show up in iTunes 12.0.1.26. It does however appear in Finder as a disk image allowing me to access certain directories, like Calendars, Contacts, DCIM, Notes, and Recordings. I've tried resetting the iPod, putting it in Disk Mode, etc. I've gone through all the support. I've tried using iExplorer. Does anyone know anything else I can try?

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

My ipod nano 3rd generation appears to be in disk mode and it will not reset. can anyone help

Try to reset it more than once if necessary.  By a reset, I assume you mean, toggling the hold switch on and then off, then pressing and holding both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear right?
If nothing else, you'll need to let the iPod's battery fully drain.

My ipod nano 6th gen ONLY turns on when it is plugged into a power source. As soon as I unplug it, it turns off. I also tried to reset it and it did not help. Any suggestions?

    Howdy mela1223,
If I understand correctly your iPod will not stay on unless you have the charger plugged in even after resetting it. Normally this would indicate a hardware issue that would need a repair but to cover all the bases before that, the last troubleshooting that can be done for it would be to restore it with iTunes on a computer.
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • IPod Nano does not appear in iTunes anymore

    Helle Guys,
I have a problem with my iPod Nano (second generation). When I connect it to my iMac, it appears on the desktop, iTunes (9.0.2) starts up but the device doesn't appear in the left column of iTunes! I tried to reboot iTunes, the computer and the iPod Nano, but nothing fixed the problem.
    All updates have been done!
    Someone had the same problem?
    Thanks,

If you can figure out a way to downgrade, I would love to hear it! I had the same thought, but the only other iTunes dmg I could find is on my iLife 6 disk. This is iTunes 6, and plugging the iPod into this version prompts the message that the iPod needs iTunes 7 or later to run.
I ran across a link from Apple for a version of iTunes 8. It isn't readily posted in an intuitive place, but I have it bookmarked. I'm not sure if it will work, but it's downloading at the moment. I found a supposed iTunes 8 dmg on Rapidshare last night... I know... that's bad, but whatever... its supposed to be free software upgrades on iTunes. It's not supposed to ruin your hardware's functionality. Ethical dilemma aside, after downloading this iTunes downgrade and trying to install, I was given the prompt, "This version of iTunes is old," and it would not proceed past that point. It was the most condescending prompt my computer has ever given me, which gave me a chuckle, but didn't solve my current issue.
I will post the link if this downgrade does indeed happen to work.

If you run out of space (and 1 GB is not too much, I have a 2GB iPod Nano and can barely fit all on it), there's no other option than cycling the song on a regular basis. Make a couple of playlists that fit in 1GB, set the iPod to manual management, and replace one playlist with another one every couple of days.
